What Is 70 Volt?

70-volt systems are the no. 1 choice for any application in which you want to install multiple speakers. With 70 volt there are a lot of advantages over 8-ohm systems. One of the main advantages is the simplicity of the wiring as well as how easy it is to match up the speakers with an amplifier. You always want your 70-volt amp to have at least 15% or 20% more power than the combined watts your speakers are tapped at. For example, if you have a 180-watt/70-volt amplifier, you can install ten 70-volt speakers that are tapped at 15 watts each or five 70-volt speakers that are tapped at 30 watts each as long as they total close to 150 watts. When we say the word “tap”, what we are referring to is the selector knob at the rear of the WET-6525 speakers. It allows you to set how many watts the built-in transformer will allow the speaker to get from the amplifier.

These speakers have taps set at 3. 75, 7 .5, 15, and 30 watts. This range of taps allows for full customization of the sound for the space in which the speakers are installed. In a restaurant, for example, you can tap your dining room speakers at 7.5 watts, the speakers in the outside seating area at 30 watts, the ones in the hallway at 15 watts, and the speakers in the bathrooms at 3. 75 watts. Another great feature of 70-volt speakers is that you can mix and match any type whether they are wall- mounted speakers (such as these), ceiling speakers, subwoofers, etc.

An additional benefit of 70-volt speaker setups is the ability to run very long lines of speaker wire without signal loss. And the wiring is very simple. You just connect all the positive terminals of the speakers to the positive 70-volt terminal(s) of the amplifier. The negative terminals on the speaker get connected to the negative (COM) terminal(s) of the amp. You do not have to worry about impedance as the power is constant. Drywall Installation

  1. Using the mounting bracket as a template, mark the mounting screw locations_ we recommend you use a stud finder to locate the wall studs and mark their location.
  2. Drill pilot holes for the screws. If you are installing between studs, we recommend using anchors_ be sure to use the proper drill bit size for the anchors. Use no less than two anchors to secure the mounting bracket.
  3. Now screw the bracket in place_ Be sure that the screws are properly seated and that the bracket is securely mounted

Masonry Installation

  1. Mark the location of the mounting screws using the mounting bracket as a template.
  2. Use a masonry drill bit to make pilot holes for the anchors.
  3. Insert the anchors and attach the mounting bracket using the appropriate screws.

Exterior Installation

  1. Hold the bracket up to the mounting surface. Use a level to ensure that the bracket is square with its surroundings. Now mark the location of the mounting screws.
  2. Drill pilot holes for the screws. If you are installing on an exterior wall with siding, make sure the screws are long enough to penetrate the siding and the surface behind it. For exterior walls, we recommend you apply a ring of caulk or sealant around each hole.
  3. Now screw the bracket in place. Be sure that the screws are properly seated and that the bracket is securely mounted.

Setup 70V-Speaker Configuration

The total number of speakers multiplied by the tap value cannot exceed the output power (in watts) of your 70V amplifier. The example below shows five total speakers. Using the 15-watt taps, you will need an amplifier with at least 75 watts (5 x 15 = 75W). A good rule of thumb is to select an amplifier with 15% to 20% greater power; in this case, an amplifier that delivers about 100 watts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do speakers inside last?****

High-quality speakers typically survive up to 40–50 years before displaying any indications of degradation, depending on the materials they are composed of and the climatic conditions where the equipment is utilized.

Do outdoor speakers require a power source?****

The majority of outdoor speakers are passive devices, which means they will require power because they lack built-in amplification.

How can I improve the sound quality of my outdoor speakers?****

When attempting to achieve the best bass and volume capabilities, placement is a crucial factor. Your speakers should be placed with their backs against a wall, fastened to substantial patio beams, or even up close to the ceiling overhang. These positions naturally increase volume and bass.

How high should outdoor speakers be mounted?****

According to audio experts, it’s preferable to put outside speakers about ten feet high and ten feet apart, slanted slightly downward, for the best audio quality. Make sure to calculate your speaker wire requirements accurately to avoid running more than is necessary. Extra cable degrades the sound’s quality.

What distinguishes indoor speakers from those used outdoors?****

An indoor speaker and an outdoor speaker differ mostly in their designs. Outdoor systems must endure, withstanding weather conditions like rain, hail, snow, and errant kickballs. That implies that the materials employed to build them must be robust.

What power output is recommended for outdoor speakers?****

The power needed by outdoor speakers Outdoor speakers have wattages that range from 60 to 300 watts. For settings under 300 square feet, two 60-watt speakers spaced 20 feet a part offer enough coverage. On the upper end, a pair of outdoor Magnat Symbol X 130 speakers can handle 200 watts of power.

How are outdoor speakers safeguarded?****

Keep them away from water and the sun.
In inclement weather, when it is impractical to bring them inside, cover them.
Inspect mounting hardware frequently.
Regularly inspect the wiring.
Always keep your speakers clean.

How long do outdoor speakers last?****

If they are properly cared for and maintained, outdoor speakers may often last up to ten years. The temperature and humidity of the environment, sunlight exposure, closeness to water (including swimming pools), owner maintenance, and the calibre of the wiring, mounting hardware, and weatherproof sealing all have an impact on how long outdoor speakers last.

What is the best speaker wire for outdoor speakers?****

For distances of up to 80 feet, use 16-gauge wire. Increase to 14-gauge wire for runs between 80 and 200 feet. Choose 12-gauge wire if you intend to extend further than 200 feet.

Where do you put the receiver for outdoor speakers?****

Place the volume control box outside and the receiver inside to connect outdoor speakers. Make sure you store your speakers in a protected spot. Allow sufficient distance from the ground and proper distance between the speakers while mounting them.

How should outdoor speakers be pointed?****

Attempt to direct each speaker toward a hub where the best sound will converge. Two speakers should be sufficient in a room between 200 and 400 square feet. Use four, six, or however many are necessary to cover a larger area.

How can I connect my TV to my outside speakers?****

Connect the audio input of the outdoor speaker receiver to the TV’s audio output using an RCA wire. Simply match the RCA cable’s colour to the port’s colour to use it. An longer RCA cable might be useful if the TV and outdoor speaker receiver are separated by a significant distance. Turn on the TV and choose a show to watch.

How are outdoor speakers powered?****

Since almost all active outdoor speakers feature Bluetooth, they can all seamlessly sync to any compatible source right out of the box and are generally plug-and-play. To power passive speakers and connect them to an amplifier or receiver, you will also require outdoor speaker cable.

Speakers, can you leave outside?****

Generally speaking, as long as they aren’t in contact with moisture, you can leave them in the cold. It would be great if you constructed some sort of shelter for outside speakers that are permanently installed to shield them from the elements. Your speakers won’t suffer permanent harm from the cold alone.
