  • Notice: The error of displaying voltage is ± 0.2V, which will not affect the voltage protection function of the Hardwire Kit.

Installation

  • Please read this manual before installation. When installing and wiring, please turn off the car and unplug the key to avoid a short circuit during operation.

Step 1, Find the correct fuse slot for your hardwire kit:

  1. 12V-30V rated power fuse
  2. ACC fuse
    • The location and layout of the car fuse box and the type of fuse used may vary from vehicle to vehicle.
    • Please refer to your vehicle manual and consult the original vehicle manufacturer or professional auto parts installer for details.
    • We recommend that you ask for professional help to install it to avoid installation errors.

The diagram of the simplified fuse box is below:VANTRUE-VP05-Dash-Cam-

  • According to the instructions of the fuse box, test the fuse panel to find the location of the ACC fuse and 12V-30V rated power to fuse with a circuit tester or multimeter.
  • Then remove the original fuse and insert it into the fuse box.VANTRUE-VP05-Dash-Cam-Hardwire-Kit-FIG-9

Step 2, Connect to the car fuse box

  1. Crimp the red wire, and yellow wire onto the Add-A-Fuse.VANTRUE-VP05-Dash-Cam-Hardwire-Kit-FIG-10
  2. Please identify the rated power fuse on the fuse panel, such as the fuses for appliances and reading lights. The power-rated fuse will remain energized when the ignition is off. Once identified, insert the red wire to the 12V-30V rated power fuse.VANTRUE-VP05-Dash-Cam-Hardwire-Kit-FIG-11
  3. Insert the yellow wire into the Add-A-Fuse ACC fuse.
    • Note: The location and layout of the car fuse box and the type of fuse used may vary from vehicle to vehicle. Please refer to your vehicle manual for details.VANTRUE-VP05-Dash-Cam-Hardwire-Kit-FIG-12
  4. Fix the black wire(GND)under a metal bolt or screw in your vehicle.VANTRUE-VP05-Dash-Cam-Hardwire-Kit-FIG-13

Step 3, Test your installation according to the below steps

  1. Insert the TYPE-C end into the dash cam, start the ignition, waiting for the dash cam to start.
    • Note: If the dash cam doesn’t turn on after startup, please check whether the cable is well connected. Then you can contact VANTRUE service staff for help.
  2. After the dash cam starts, turn off the car and unplug the key to check if the dash cam is turned off or goes into parking mode.
    • Note: Some vehicles require turning off the engine and opening the driver’s door to trigger the ACC power-off signal, and a few vehicles only trigger the ACC power-off signal after a while after turning off and locking the vehicle.
    • These two types of vehicles require checking whether the dash cam is turned off or enters parking mode after the AC power is turned off.
  3. After confirming that the dash cam is off or in the parking mode, restart the car to check whether the dash cam can start recording normally.
    • If all the above steps pass the test, it indicates that the normal circuit and ACC signal test passed

Step 4, Route the power cable

  1. Route Hardwire Kit Type C USB cable Carefully route the power cable along the A-pillar and the windscreen and tuck it under the trim.VANTRUE-VP05-Dash-Cam-Hardwire-Kit-FIG-14
  2. Route fuse box wires
    • Tie up the wires and put them in the fuse box. Please note that the Hardwire Kit switch button should be put in which is easily adjustable, not in the fuse box.

Caution

  • Before using the product, please read all precautions and operation instructions to ensure use it correctly and safely.
  • Some cars are unable to obtain ACC signal changes during ignition and shutdown, and these cars cannot transmit ACC signals to the dash cam during parking monitoring, which may result in some functions not being able to work properly.
  • Before installation, please check the product labels to differentiate red wire, black ground wire, and yellow ACC wire.
  • Connecting the wrong wire, reverse wiring, or missing wires can result in abnormal product functionality.VANTRUE-VP05-Dash-Cam-Hardwire-Kit-FIG-15
  • Please stay away from high temperatures and humid environments to avoid product function caused by abnormal environments when using the product.
  • Once product damage and functional failure are found, please do not continue to use the product to avoid causing damage to the vehicle power supply, vehicle battery, and dash camera.
