Product Usage Instructions

Unboxing and Setup

Inside the box, you will find:

Unboxing

The expander must be removed from the box by lifting the top cover followed by the bottom one. The product must meet IP65 requirements, considering the use of appropriate protection glands if necessary. For more information, refer to the complete product manual.

Assembly Phases

  1. Remove the upper and lower removable covers of the lid to access the plastic screws and unscrew them to remove the lid.
  2. To remove the printed circuit board from the enclosure, remove the 2 Philips screws under the display and slide the board up; then rotate it outward.
  3. Using an appropriately sized drill bit (4 mm), drill at the predefined points at the corners of the back part.
  4. Prepare the necessary openings (20 mm holes) for cable access and mount the appropriate size cable glands.
  5. Attach the back part to the desired surface using all the fixing holes and appropriately sized pan head screws (non-countersunk).
  6. Insert the cable, tighten the cable glands, reassemble the board, and secure it with the supplied screws.

Display Setup

  1. Connect to a power supply according to EN54-4 using the provided power terminals. The power supply terminals are marked as negative (-) and positive (+).
  2. Perform the following on the display:
    • Press the ‘Select’ button.
    • Enter level 1 password (default 0001) using the arrow keys and confirm with the ‘Select’ button.
    • Select ‘Expander Config’ using the arrow keys and press the ‘Select’ button.
    • Select ‘Set Discovery Mode’ using the arrow keys and press the ‘Select’ button.
    • Enter level 2 password (default 0002) using the arrow keys and confirm with the ‘Select’ button.
    • Select the discovery channel A (or B or C depending on survey results) using the arrow keys and confirm with the ‘Select’ button.
  3. Ensure the green LED is flashing, alternating between green and yellow when the device is enabled.

Mounting Steps

  1. Remove the removable top and bottom covers of the casing to access the plastic screws and unscrew them to remove the cover.
  2. To remove the circuit board from the casing, unscrew the 2 Philips screws below the display and slide the board upwards, then rotate it outwards.
  3. Drill holes using a suitable drill tip (4 mm) at the predefined points on the rear corners.
  4. Prepare 20 mm holes for cable access and mount suitable cable glands.
  5. Secure the rear part to the desired surface using all mounting holes and appropriate round head screws (not countersunk).
  6. Insert the cable, tighten the cable glands, reassemble the board, and secure it with the provided screws.

Display and Functions

The display features buttons labeled:

  • UP
  • LEFT
  • RIGHT
  • EXIT
  • SELECT
  • DOWN

The LEDs on the display indicate system statuses:

  • Green LED
  • Yellow LED

Important Considerations

When installing the device, it is essential to follow a site survey to ensure optimal positioning and to ensure signal coverage is adequate. Identify the wireless infrastructure necessary and the positions of the product to prevent signal integrity issues.

Avoid installing or mounting the device near:

  • Large power consumption devices (e.g., transformers, motors)
  • Large metal objects and structures
  • Lamps and fluorescent lights
  • Heaters
  • Computer network cabling

Maintain a minimum distance of 2 meters between wireless devices in the area to avoid signal interference.
