Frequently Asked Questions
Can these be used if I have ringing in my ears?****
Yes. I have ringing in my ears & I can’t hear it while wearing my hearing aids. I have the open domes because I don’t like the feeling of plugged ears.
What is the different of a hear aid and a hearing amplifier?****
The difference between a hearing aid and amplifier is that a hearing aid is programmed specifically to your hearing loss after you’ve done a hearing test. A hearing amplifier is not pre-programmed it comes with 4 programs that you can choose which is the best for you. I really enjoy the Otofonix.
How can I get extra tubing for these?****
Yes, you may, you can order directly off the Otofonix.
What is the difference between an Amplifer and a hearing aide?****
I don’t know but I returned my Otofonix and I am waiting on my refund. It didn’t amplify.
I have a problem hearing the dialog over the background music on TV programs. Do these help?****
While our Apex amplifier may help a little by amplifying voices it may not be the best solution for dealing with the background music of programs. I have seen some products that are designed specifically to help with tv viewing and listening that may be a better fit for this particular situation.
Have the apex and still have problems with voices. Using program 3, volume 3 or 4 and closed dome. Anything else I can try?****
You have to be able to say what problem.
Do you have a payment plan for hearing aids?****
No.
What is the gain vs frequency curve?****
Gain, frequency response, and maximum output are the basic specifications for a hearing aid model or family of hearing aids . Gain refers to a measure of the overall degree of amplification. Frequency response refers to the shape of the gain requirements across frequency, an important aspect of which is the required slope in each octave.

What’s the difference between hearing aid and a amplifier?****
Both are wearable sound-amplifying devices that input sound, digitally process it and then deliver it to the ear. They both look alike and many have the same advanced hi-tech circuits. So what makes them different? Hearing Aids are considered to be medical devices and as such require an audiogram (hearing test) and are regulated by the FDA for people with a hearing loss. Hearing Amplifiers; (aka: Personal Sound Amplifier Products or PSAPs), according to a 2009 court ruling do not need a prescription, are not FDA regulated
