INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Surface Preparation

The existing floor must be clean, smooth and level. The surface must be free of dirt, moisture, dust, grease and waxes. Fill all cracks and holes with a suitable latex crack filler. Please follow directions below depending on the type of floor surface.
Cement: If the cement is painted make sure the paint is dry. Not to be used on untreated cement.
Wood: All planks must be securely nailed to the surface. Countersink nail heads.
Resilient / Vinyl: Do not install tiles over cushioned vinyl rubber flooring. This type of flooring must be removed or covered with plywood.

Where to Start

Find the center of the room by drawing a chalk line from the center points of opposite walls. The center of the room is where the chalk lines intersect.

Installing the Tiles

IMPORTANT: Store tiles in the room you plan to install for 24 hours at a minimum. Keep room at a minimum of 50* during and for 48 hours after installation. Before installing inspect each tile for defects. Installing constitutes acceptance. Remove protective packaging and place first tile in the junction of the two lines at the center of the room. Lay tiles with ribs 90′ to each other working from the center of the room out. Continue installation to the walls until you are unable to lay a full tile.
Do not slide the tiles once they are placed, it is very difficult to move them without damaging them. To continue see the cutting directions below.

Cutting

Lay a full tile upside down, with rib pattern in proper direction, and overlap the last tile installed near the wall. Mark a straight line on the bottom of the tile where the tiles overlap. Cut the bottom of the tile along the line.

DO NOT CUT ON THE FLOOR AS THE BLADE MAY CUT THROUGH AND DAMAGE THE NEW TILES.

Before peeling the backing paper, check that the cut tile fits correctly. The tile should not be forced into place. After cutting, lay the tile with cut edge to the wall. Slide the tile under molding and trim whenever needed.
Caution: The protective paper on the back of the self-stick tiles is very slippery. Dispose of it immediately after you peel it off.

Maintenance

Spot clean where necessary with mild detergent and water. Rinse thoroughly Do not bleach.
