General Safety Information

  • Solar photovoltaic systems must be installed exclusively by qualified personnel possessing the requisite professional skills and knowledge. Installers shall assume all risks of injury that may arise during installation, including, but not limited to, the risk of electric shock.
  • When exposed to direct sunlight, a single module may generate DC voltages exceeding 41 V. Exposure to DC voltages of 41 V or higher carries significant hazards. Arcing may occur when disconnecting wires connected to PV components exposed to sunlight, potentially resulting in burns or fires. Exercise extreme caution when operating, as failure to do so may lead to further complications. Therefore, it is crucial to safeguard oneself from electrical hazards.
  • Solar modules convert solar energy into DC electricity and are designed for outdoor use. Modules can be mounted on a fixed outdoor structure, and the system designer and installer are responsible for ensuring compliance with the supporting structure’s design.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the module or remove any attached nameplates or components. Avoid applying paint, adhesives, or substances that obstruct the battery cell’s exposure to light on the module’s light-receiving surface.
  • Avoid exposing the module’s surface to intensified artificial sunlight. During system installation, adhere to all local, regional, and national laws and statutory regulations. When installing on a vehicle or vessel, comply with relevant local and national laws and regulations.

Safety Precautions

  • When light shines on the light-receiving surface of the solar module, the module generates DC electricity with a voltage exceeding 41 V. If modules are connected in series, the total voltage equals the sum of each module’s voltage. If modules are connected in parallel, the total current is the sum of each module’s current.
  • During the transportation and installation of mechanical and electrical components, ensure that children are kept away from the system and the installation site.
  • It is advisable to completely cover the module’s light-receiving surface with opaque material during installation. Additionally, disconnect the positive and negative terminals to prevent issues related to power generation.
  • When installing or troubleshooting a PV system, avoid wearing metal rings, straps, earrings, nose rings, lip rings, or other metal accessories. Only use insulated tools that are approved for electrical installation. Adhere to safety instructions for all other components used in the system, including cables, connectors, controllers, charge regulators, inverters, batteries, and other rechargeable batteries.
  • Utilize equipment, connectors, wiring, and brackets specifically designed for the installation of this solar module system. Always use modules of the same type within a particular PV system. Bypass diodes are integrated into the junction box for all modules.
  • For any single module or combination of multiple modules connected in series or parallel, the cable’s cross-sectional area and the connector’s capacity must match the maximum system short-circuit current. Failure to do so can result in cable and connector overheating at high currents.
  • DC fuses must be appropriately rated for the module’s overcurrent protection.
  • Under normal outdoor conditions, the currents and voltages generated by the module may differ from those listed in the datasheet, depending on the weather and ambient temperature. Data specified on the nameplate are expected values under standard test conditions (STC).

A parallel connection is shown in the diagramZENDURE-210W-Flexible-Solar-
Panel-FIG- \(3\)

  • It is recommended to connect modules with the same electrical output in the same series to prevent mismatching, which can result in an effect less than the sum of individual outputs.
  • Avoid shading, as even a small amount of shade will reduce power output.
  • Ensure that the module receives direct sunlight even on the shortest day of the year.
  • To maximize electricity generation, the module should face due south in the Northern Hemisphere and due north in the Southern Hemisphere. For details on the optimal installation angle, refer to your local PV installation guide or the installation angle requirements provided by a reputable solar installer or system integrator.

Installation Precautions

The installation methods provided below are for reference purposes only. Zendure supplies certain module installation and connection accessories (refer to the packaging list for details). Any system installers must ensure that the installation adheres to all specifications.
The module panel is constructed from flexible material with 12 holes positioned along its edges. It can be secured using optional adapter bolts inserted through the available holes or by applying structural adhesive or double-sided adhesive foam tape to the panel’s rear surface. Regardless of the chosen installation method, it is crucial to maintain gaps between the panels and the roof. This promotes airflow and facilitates efficient heat dissipation, ultimately extending the service life and optimizing power generation output.

Caution:

  • Modules must be securely mounted to withstand all anticipated loads, such as wind and snow loads.
  • Each module is equipped with two labels that furnish the following information:
  • Nameplate Sticker: Contains details regarding the product type, electrical parameters, weight, dimensions, etc., as measured under standard test conditions.
  • SN Code Sticker: Each module is assigned a unique serial number.

Note:
It is imperative not to remove any labels from the solar panel, as doing so will void the product warranty policy provided by Zendure.

Commissioning and Troubleshooting

  • Zendure strongly recommends that all commissioning and maintenance of the solar module system be carried out by qualified PV (Photovoltaic) technicians!
  • Before connecting modules to the system, it’s essential to test them.
  • Always test all electrical and electronic components of the system before commissioning. Follow the provided instructions for each part and piece of equipment.
  • To assess the electrical performance of the module, typically, the module is exposed to sunlight without being connected to a load. Exercise caution and prioritize personal safety when conducting these measurements.

If abnormal power generation occurs, troubleshoot the issue using the following steps:

  1. Inspect all wiring to ensure there are no open circuits or poor connections.
  2. Check the open-circuit voltage of each module.
  3. Measure the open-circuit voltage with the module completely covered with opaque material, then remove the material and measure the open-circuit voltage at its terminals. Compare the values.

If the voltage between the terminals differs by more than 5% from the nominal value at an irradiance of 2700 W/m² (65.0 W/ft²), this indicates a poor electrical connection.

Maintenance

To ensure optimal module performance, we recommend the following maintenance procedures:

  1. Clean the flexible module surface as needed using water and a soft sponge or cloth. For stubborn dirt, mild detergent can be used. Avoid using sharp or hard cleaning tools. It is advisable to clean in the morning or evening when the sun is less intense (irradiance below 200 W/m² or 18.6 W/ft²).
  2. Inspect electrical and mechanical connections every six months to ensure they are clean, securely fastened, and free from damage.
  3. Prevent leaves and other objects from covering the solar panel surface. Partial shading not only reduces power generation efficiency but can also lead to excessive currents in certain areas, potentially damaging components.

In case of any issues, always consult a qualified expert for investigation and follow the maintenance instructions for all components used in the system, including brackets, charge regulators, inverters, batteries, etc.
