lamp so that finding things in poorly lit parking spaces is easier. Carry up to
15 kg and a volume of 22L.
CAUTION
Do not overfill the under-seat storage. A simple check: the seat should close
effortlessly when you drop it down. If you need to press it down, it’s over-
packed and there is a high possibility that it gets damaged.
CAUTION
The storage box is built to be rain-proof. But water can seep through if a
pressure jet wash is used to clean the scooter. Remember to empty the under-
seat storage before washing. Always store the portable charger in its cover to
protect it from water leaks.
SCOOTER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN) / CHASSIS NUMBER
Each scooter has a unique VIN. On the Ather 450X, it is engraved on the
chassis. Remove the rubber grommet in the under-seat storage to access it.
It’s a 17 digit number in this format: MYH XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
STRONG AND SILENT MOTOR
So silent, you won’t even realise it’s running. Keep an eye on the dashboard
for the motor OFF/ON indicator. Use the kill switch whenever at signals to
avoid accidents from any unintended acceleration.
SUPER RESPONSIVE BRAKES
Both the wheels have pretty responsive disc brakes. So press the brakes
gently, until you get used to them.
HYPER QUICK MOTOR
Electric motors have a higher torque, which means the acceleration will be
quick and sudden. Take it easy on the accelerator till you get a hang of it.
GOOD (AND NEW) THINGS TAKE TIME
Park AssistTM is something new. The speed while going forward is 5 km/h and 3
km/h in reverse. It’s just better to be extra careful to make sure that nobody
gets hurt.
SAFETY AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
- As a precaution, wear appropriate safety gear while riding: a helmet that conforms to prescribed standards, eye protection gear, riding boots and gloves.
- Do not consume alcohol or drugs that affect your reflexes, before or while you are riding.
- Do not overload the floorboard. It can handle up to 30 kg of weight. We recommend that you distribute the weight evenly for better ride handling.
- If you have been riding in the rain, wait for 15 minutes before plugging in the scooter. Wipe off the water on the port using a soft, dry cloth.
- Never allow others to ride without proper instructions and licences as per applicable state laws.
- We strongly advise against any alteration or modification, as they may cause safety hazards.
PRECAUTIONS FOR A SAFE ELECTRIC RIDE
- In case of an accident, do not touch wiring connectors or the wired components.
- In the highly unlikely event of a battery fire, extinguish the flame by flooding it with a lot of water. A water hose should be used, and the person doing this must be at least a couple of metres away from the scooter. Make sure the scooter is unplugged from the charging point. If it isn’t, switch OFF the main power supply immediately to cut off the electricity flow.
- Once the fire is extinguished, keep flooding the battery with water every 30 minutes, for up to 2 hours. Check on it at regular intervals for a few hours to be extra sure that the fire doesn’t reignite.
CAUTION
Never lift the scooter by pulling the handlebar.
WARNING
In case of fire, please call customer support to let us know and we will
provide any assistance required.

TURNING THE SCOOTER ON AND RIDING
-
UNLOCK THE HANDLEBAR
Insert the key in the keyhole located under the handlebar, on the right-hand side. Turn the key clockwise, and it’s unlocked. -
OPEN THE UNDER-SEAT STORAGE
Once the handlebar is unlocked, turn the key anti-clockwise to open the underseat storage. Take your helmet out, wear it, simply drop the seat to lock it. Check the seat lock once, just to be doubly sure. Now you are all set for the ride!
WARNING
The scooter makes no significant sound when the motor is ON.
-
SWITCH ON THE DISPLAY
Once the key is turned ON, it will activate the Disclaimer: Range display and riding modes on the dashboard are only available with the Pro.
dashboard, showing the current time, available range and riding modes. -
DISENGAGE KILL SWITCH
If the kill switch is engaged, the motor will not switch ON. -
ACTIVATE THE MOTOR
Press the brake lever (either one) and the motor start switch ON the right- hand side of the handlebar to make the riding screen appear. -
TOGGLE TO CHANGE RIDING MODE
Switch between Ride, Eco, Sport and Warp.
- PARK ASSISTTM
To move in reverse press the Park AssistTM button when stationary. Slowly rev the throttle (RHS handlebar) to start moving backwards. To move forward in Park AssistTM, press the “Activate motor” button before revving the throttle.
WARNING
Kick back the side stand, before you start riding. For your safety, the motor gets activated only when the side stand is disengaged.
MAINTAINING SPEED
Rev the accelerator throttle and use the brakes to maintain speed. Avoid using
both the accelerator and the brake at the same time.
SLOWING DOWN AND BRAKING
Bring the throttle back to zero. Either use the Combined Braking System or
apply both brakes simultaneously to bring the scooter to a halt. Use the kill
switch to turn the motor OFF, in case you plan to stop for some time.
CAUTION
In wet weather, it takes longer to slow down or come to a halt. Start braking
a little earlier than you would normally, especially when going around corners
and turning.
WARNING
Any unintended acceleration could injure you or others on the road. Use the
motor kill switch at any traffic stop.
REGENERATIVE BRAKING
Recover the scooter’s kinetic energy and convert it to be stored in the
battery. To activate Regenerative Braking, the battery should be below 80% and
speeds above 20 km/h.
HOW TO ACTIVATE IT?
Press the brake levers or rev the throttle in the opposite direction (anti-
clockwise). Algorithms dictate the amount of regen, depending on the battery
state and speed of the scooter.
REGEN DISABLED
Regen is disabled when the charge status is high (higher the remaining range,
lesser the regen) or when the battery temperature is high.
CAUTION
The scooter can’t be brought to a halt using regenerative braking as it gets
activated only when you’re going over 20 km/h.
CAUTION
The scooter may be throttled down to Eco Mode when the battery charge is too
low.
WARNING
In case of errors or glitches, performance may be restricted to ensure the
rider’s safety. If this happens, please contact customer support immediately.
TURNING THE SCOOTER OFF AND PARKING
STOPPING YOUR SCOOTER
Bring the accelerator throttle back to zero. Use the kill switch to turn OFF
the motor. Turn the key back to the LOCK position and remove it.
If the Guide-me-home Light is ON, the headlight will switch OFF automatically
in ~15 seconds.
CAUTION
The key should be removed anytime the scooter is left unattended. You don’t
want somebody stealing it.
PARKING
Use your left foot to disengage the side stand. Always engage the side when
you’ve to park. Also, always try to park on level and firm ground.
CAUTION
Park under shade wherever possible. Continuous, long-term exposure to sunlight
could cause discoloration of the screen. Lesser exposure to heat is good for
battery life and display health.
WARNING
- Always use the kill switch if the side stand is engaged.
- Do not sit on the scooter when parked on the side stand.
- Do not move the scooter with the side stand engaged.
- Always ensure the side stand is completely opened up while parking.
CHARGE IT UP
USING THE ATHER DOT
PLUGGING IT IN
Turn the key to the ON position. Gently pull down the connector from the
holder, open the charging port flap on the scooter and plug it in. Key should
be in the OFF position for the scooter to start charging automatically.
UNPLUGGING IT
- Before you pull out the cable, turn the key to the ON position to unlock the connector.
- Keep the key in the ON position, wait for 5 seconds, remove the charging connector, and put it back in the Ather Dot holder. Remember to close the charging port flap on the scooter.
- You can check the charge status on the dashboard while it’s charging. You can also check it on your phone, by using Ather app.
CAUTION
- Do not leave the connector on the ground to avoid damage through dust and water ingress.
- Do not try to forcefully pull the connector out. Try turning the key to OFF, back to ON and try again. It should come out effortlessly.
WHAT DOES THE LED SAY?
The charger tells you what it’s up to, with an LED light that changes colours.
NOTE
If you don’t see any light (when there is power in your premises), press the
Reset button on the PRCD (Portable Residual Current Device). If it still
doesn’t respond, please contact customer support.
Using the Portable Charger plug in the 3-pin connector of the charging cable
into the 5A socket.
Plug in the other end of the cable to the scooter’s charging port. Turn the
key to OFF position and pull it out. To plug out, keep the key in the ON
position, wait for 5 seconds, then remove the charging connector and close the
charging port flap.
CAUTION
Remove the key once your scooter is connected to the charger or disconnected
from the charging cable. Do not turn the key ON and pull out the connector at
the same time. Hold on for 5 seconds to pull the connector out. Do not remove
the connector while your scooter is charging. You run the risk of damaging the
connector and/or the scooter.
SCOOTER SHUTDOWN
VEHICLE SHUTDOWN
HIBERNATION
When the scooter is not in use (unplugged, with the key turned OFF), the
electronics consume negligible power. The battery drains extremely slowly.
But, if you don’t ride for around 25 days, you should charge for a few hours
before you head out.
HOW TO SHUT DOWN
By heading to the settings section on the dashboard.
CAUTION
Charge your scooter every 100 days. It’s a must, even if the scooter is in
Shutdown Mode. This prevents permanent damage to the battery pack.
CARING FOR YOUR SCOOTER
WHEN NOT IN USE
If you are not using your scooter for more than 5 days, leave it in Shutdown
Mode to prevent battery drain.
QUICK CLEAN-UP
Regularly cleaning the vents avoids the risk of damage caused due to
insufficient ventilation, choking and insulation of the heat dissipation
components. Keep the motor and battery vents spic and span.
EXTEND YOUR BATTERY LIFE
PULLING AND PUSHING
Turn the motor OFF using the kill switch when pulling the scooter back or
pushing the scooter on a decline.
CAUTION
Do not try to hold the scooter at a place using partial acceleration, while on
a slope. In all likelihood, it will damage the motor.
