Armacost Lighting 213412 Puck Light
Introduction
The PureVue Dimmable LED Puck Lights from Armacost Lighting are the ideal way to upgrade your accent lighting. The puck lights are the perfect option for surface mount fixtures or as a recessed flush mounted, ultra-thin downlight since the all-metal construction is only 5/8-in thick. Incredibly energy- efficient PureVue LEDs only need 4 watts each LED puck light. The lights’ light output is around 375 lumens, or about the same as a 40-watt incandescent bulb. Visible LEDs and spotted countertop reflections are removed by its PureVue diffusion technology. Expect dependable use for years to come thanks to the maintenance-free operation and absence of bulbs.
PRACTICAL CONFIGURATION, EASY TO INSTALL
PureVue LED lights can be a surface-mounted puck or a sleek recessed down light. High quality all metal construction, each fixture comes prewired with a 36 in. color-coded power lead for easy direct wire connections.
Low voltage safe, simply cut or extend cables to meet any installation need. Lights can be installed individually, linked together, or combined with Armacost LED tape lighting in the same circuit. The number of lights installed is limited only by the output rating of the power supply.
ULTRA BRIGHT CHIP-ON-BOARD (COB) LED ARRAY TECHNOLOGY
PureVue Lights are made with Cree® High Power XLamp® COB LEDs and consume only 4 watts at full brightness to produce about 375 lumens of light. Performance is equivalent to a conventional 35- to 40-watt halogen bulb.
PureVue diffusing technology reduces glare to deliver smooth consistent light output with no visible LED chips or bright spots.
FULLY DIMMABLE
Enjoy smooth, soft-start and fade-to-dark professional dimming with any standard, in-wall AC dimmer when PureVue lights are used with Armacost Lighting’s Universal Dimming LED drivers. PureVue lights are also compatible with Armacost Lighting’s line of Wireless, Wi-Fi, and Touch Dimmers. Wireless dimming controls can eliminate the need to run wires from the LED lighting to the remote dimmer location, useful in situations where installing new cabling can be difficult. Visit armacostlighting.com/dimming to learn more about your dimming options.
Requires a 12- or 24-volt DC power supply. Each LED light uses about 4 watts. Choose an adequately rated power supply based on the number of installed lights.
IMPORTANT
CAUTION: For use only with low voltage 12- or 24-volt DC power source.
- Do not connect to 120V AC current. For dry location only.
- Disconnect all power before installing.
Wire runs inside walls must be installed in accordance with national and local electrical codes, low voltage Class 2 circuit. Use properly certified CL2 or better cabling. Do not install low-voltage wiring in the same wire run as AC power. If AC and low-voltage wires cross, keep them at 90-degree angles. If you are unclear as to how to install and wire this device, contact a qualified electrician.
- Use only insulated staples, plastic ties or clips to secure wires.
- Route and secure wires so they will not be pinched or damaged.
- Failure to observe polarity or shorting of wires may damage the LED lights.
INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
First, remove trim ring by grasping ring and then firmly pushing on back side of LED light.
FLUSH MOUNT
Cut a 2-1/4 in. diameter hole at desired location and insert light. Tension clips will hold the light in place. No trim ring required.
SURFACE MOUNT
Keeping power cable threaded through trim ring, install ring using screws. Insert light into trim ring until secure.
TYPICAL CONNECTION
Simply connect LED lights to the low voltage output of your 12- or 24-volt DC power supply as shown. Always maintain polarity, red (+) to red, black (–) to black. Splice and extend power lead cables to meet installation needs. For RV and boat applications, power the lighting directly by 12-volt battery.
Be sure to use a 12- or 24-volt DC power supply with sufficient wattage to power the total number of LED lights connected to your system. At 100% brightness, each LED light uses about 4 watts.
On very large, multi-LED light installations, be aware of possible voltage drop, which only becomes undesirable if you notice the brightness in one area of your lighting is objectionably different than in another area. Do not coil wire; shorter lengths and thicker wire will mean less voltage drop and higher brightness. For an online voltage drop calculator, visit armacostlighting.com/voltage drop.
PLANNING FOR A DIMMER
Use only Armacost Lighting LED dimmers or an Armacost AC to DC dimmable LED power supply with a compatible Lutron® or similar style in-wall AC dimmer. Be sure to visit armacostlighting.com/dimming to learn about the types of dimmers that will work with Armacost LED lighting and power supplies.
WORKS WITH OTHER ARMACOST COMPONENT-BASED LIGHTING
Lights can be linked together or combined in the same 12-volt low voltage circuit with other Armacost lighting products, including white RibbonFlex Pro® LED tape lighting and 1-watt mini lights.

FAQs
What all do I need to buy to make 2of these lights work and will they dim from a 120-bolt wall switch?****
To use two of these lights and make them dimmable via a standard wall switch, you will need a 12V or 24V dimmable power supply with at least 8 watts, such as Armacost Lighting model 820200 or 840240. Romex output from the switch can wire into the power supply and output side of the power supply wires into these lights.
If I have 21 of these on the same switch, which driver would I use? at 4 watts per light would I not need at least an 84-watt transformer/controller?****
If you want all of your lights wired to a single power supply, then you would need the Armacost 120-Watt Driver (B07DTHL9MZ).
Is it normal that I can feel the heat from the led puck inside my cabinet? why does the puck case gets hot too?****
It is normal to feel some heat dissipating from the light.
Is there is a driver anyone has ordered and works with these? They’ll be in groups, ranging from 1 lights to 4 lights.****
Lutron driver works with these.
How far away have you installed these for undercab lighting? My cab person is recommending every 15 in but I think it’s too close. Have 20″ backsplash.****
Trust your cabinet person. 15″ works well.
If I purchase 6 puck lights, will this work with the Leviton 6674-p0w dimmer and armacost lighting 840240 transformer?****
PureVue draws 4 watts at maximum brightness; so, the 24W, 840240 produces enough wattage to power them.
German cabinets have precut hole 2 5/8″. Will the trim cover the hole? And if the clips won’t hold it, can I screw it to the cabinet?****
I drilled very small hole for wiring. Mount screwed to cabinet bottom.
Do the lights put out the same brightness on 12v and 24v? do they run hotter on 24v? what to consider when choosing 24v vs. 12v?****
The lumens output of the lights is the same regardless of voltage. The decision of running 12V DC or 24V DC is based on what is chosen for the other components in the system, such as power supply.
Why is this particular product 12 watts and the others are around 4? This will require many drivers for the kitchen if that is the case.****
This is a low-voltage 12-volt system that requires a power “brick” sold by Armacost (or probably Amazon). They also make a dimmer control, as well as a remote surface-mount wall switch to control the dimmer remotely.
What is the diameter of the light when cast on a surface 18 inches away?****
It is difficult to precisely answer your question because there is not a specific stopping point for the light; it sort of ‘bleeds’ to dim on the edges. This product emits a beam angle of 120 degrees. We suggest spacing them about 2 feet apart.
What color are this light? 3000k? 4000k? 5000k?****
These lights are 4000k in color temperature.
I need 6 of these. the will all run off one switch. do I need a driver? what size? what else do I need?****
I put 4 on a single switch on a boat (inside cabin lighting) and there was no problem. My wiring was 12V already. You will need a transformer (driver) to get the AC to DC if you are installing in a house.
A 12-watt led puck. that seems insanely over powered, is this a typo?****
Yes, this is an error on the Amazon Listing. The puck light draws 4 watts at max brightness and operates off of 12 V-DC power.
what size wire is used for the circuit?****
18 AWG, stranded wire is what we recommend for most circuits. However, you can use anywhere between 16-22 AWG wire; stranded or solid core.
Can anyone suggest the specific power supply to go with these? I assume as long as they’re grouped together on the same switch you would need only 1?****
The type of power supply you will need largely depends on the number of pucks you plan on installing. I recommend using our 24- or 45-watt AC Dimmable drivers. ( 45 Watt ASIN: B01IY81HO2) (24 Watt ASIN: B01IY81HOM). Email us at Support@armacostlighting.com for information specific to your project.
