Installation

Technical specifications

  • Power supply: 100–240 V~ / 50–60 Hz
  • Wattage: 7 W

Charging the clipper (HC 50 only)

  • When charging for the first time or when the appliance is not used for a few months, leave the appliance to charge continuously for 4 hours.
  • The charging light shows that the appliance is being charged.
  • When the battery is fully charged, the charging light turns off. Intermittent blinking after a while indicates that the battery maintains its full capacity.
  • This can also happen short-term when charging after the battery is completely discharged.
  • Once the clipper is completely charged, use it without the cord until discharged.
  • Then recharge to full capacity again (1 hour).
  • A full charge will give up to 30 minutes of cordless trimming depending on your hair.
  • However, the maximum capacity will only be reached after several charging/discharging cycles.
  • The best environmental temperature range for charging is 15 °C to 35 °C.
  • If the rechargeable battery is discharged, you may also operate the clipper via the mains cord.
  • (If the clipper does not run immediately, charge it for approx. 1 minute in the «off» position.)

General

  • The person whose hair you want to cut should sit in a position where the top of the head is at your eye level.
  • The hair should be clean, well-combed, tangle-free and dry.
  • Ensure you have a firm, but relaxed grip on the clipper.
  • If you are not used to clipping hair, begin with a higher setting and then reduce the setting to avoid cutting more hair than desired.
  • Use a slow and controlled movement. Do not force the clipper through the hair faster than the clipper can cut it.
  • In between, shake or blow off the hair from the clipper. If too much hair is caught in the distance comb, remove and clean it.
  • To control your progress during clipping, regularly comb the hair in the style desired.

Normal clipping

  • Push the distance comb (1) onto the hair clipper until it locks. The hair length selector (5) must be in position «1».
  • To choose the desired length setting (4), push down the length selector and shift it upward.
  • To start clipping, shift the on/off switch (6) to «on».
  • Keep the distance comb flat on the hair, parallel to the head, and slowly move against the direction of hair growth.
  • The distance comb can only be taken off when the length selector is set to «1».

Clipping or trimming without distance comb

  • Remove the distance comb (only possible at setting «1»). To start clipping, shift the on/off switch to «on».
  • Move the cutting system only in a parallel position to the skin (A, cutting hair).
  • Slowly and carefully move the appliance against the direction of hair growth.
  • Only when trimming contours should the cutting system be positioned vertically (B, trimming).
  • Make sure you do not tilt the appliance while it is touching the skin (C).
  • Avoid jerky movements while cutting.

Clipping with the barber’s comb

  • To cut longer hair, hold it up with the barber’s comb (10) and cut it with the scissors (11) or with the clipper (distance comb must be removed from the clipper – only possible at setting «1»).

Keeping your clipper in top shape

  • After each use and when the distance comb is taken off, slightly shake or brush the hair from the clipper and the distance comb.
  • Press the release button (3) to open the cutting system (2). Using the brush (13), clean the cutting system and the inside of the clipper.
  • To keep the cutting system working properly, oil it with light machine oil after each use (D).
  • Then click the cutting system back to its original position.
  • After use, unplug the cord from the appliance for a longer cord life.

Preserving the rechargeable battery (HC 50 only)

  • To optimize the capacity and life of the battery, it should be fully discharged through regular use every 6 months approximately.
  • Then recharge to full capacity again. Do not keep the clipper on permanent charge.
  • Do not expose the clipper to temperatures of more than 50 °C for longer periods.
  • Subject to change without notice.
  • Please do not dispose of the product in the household waste at the end of its useful life. Disposal can take place at a Braun Service
  • Centre or at appropriate collection points provided in your country.
