Product Usage Instructions
Controls:
The EBS ValveDrive pedal features the following controls:
- GAIN: Controls the overall gain and amount of overdrive.
- BASS, MIDDLE, and TREBLE: The filter section of the EBS ValveDrive. Controls the timbre of the sound and is useful for refining overdriven sounds.
- VOLUME: Controls the overall volume of the EBS ValveDrive.
- ACTIVE FOOTSWITCH: When pressed and the LED is red, the pedal is active. When deactivated, the pedal is bypassed or in mute mode (depending on the setting of the bypass/mute switch on the rear panel).
- VINTAGE FOOTSWITCH: Controls the character of the Valve drive. When the LED is red, the pedal is set to the standard modern character. When the LED is yellow, the vintage mode is selected. The vintage character changes the tube timbre, and EQ, and compresses the signal over the gain stage.
How to Change the Tube:
- Remove the power from the unit and wait at least five (5) minutes.
- Carefully remove the chrome tube cover by loosening the four (4) holding bolts.
- Replace the tube with the same type, i.e., ECC83/12AX7.
- Attach the four mounting screws using moderate tension.
The Filters:
The EBS ValveDrive is equipped with classical-style passive filters specially
tuned for bass guitar. The BASS, MIDDLE, and TREBLE controls affect the timbre
of the sound and can be used to refine overdriven sounds.
Flat Frequency Response:
The special case when you want a flat frequency response from the passive
filters is obtained when the BASS and TREBLE controls are set to MINIMUM, and
the MIDDLE control is set to MAXIMUM. Note: In each graph, the other two
controls are set to the maximum position.
Thank you for purchasing the EBS ValveDrive pedal!
The EBS ValveDrive tube preamp/overdrive pedal offers the possibility for classic and traditional warm tube sounds up to hard and pure tube distortion. The ValveDrive pedal can make your bass either glow or growl, whether you want your instrument to sing or scream. We hope you’ll enjoy using the EBS ValveDrive pedal!
