Product Usage Instructions
Power Supply
Use a power supply that provides stabilized 9-18V DC with a standard center negative 2.1mm connector.
Controls
- DRIVE: Controls the input Gain/Drive level.
- BLEND: Sets the mix between drive and clean sound.
- OUTPUT: Connect the output to your amp, or the next device in your signal path.
- TONE: Shape the tone range of the effect from darker to brighter.
- VOLUME: Sets the output volume of the pedal.
- Notice that a higher Drive level increases the overall output as well.
- INPUT: Connect your instrument, or the previous device in your signal path, to the input jack.
- ON/OFF SWITCH: Magnet-type footswitch to switch the pedal on and off.
- TYPE: Set the tone character of the drive to THIN, NORMAL, or DEEP.
Troubleshooting Guide

- Does the cable(s) work properly?
- Are the 1/4 plugs properly connected?
- Is the Instrument cable attached to the Right (input) jack, and the Amp cable connected to the Left (output) jack?
- Does the pedal have a battery, and is the battery OK?
- Does the indicator lead light when pressing the foot switch alternatively?
- Does the instrument work?
- Does the amplifier work and is the volume turned up?
- If you are using a DC adapter, are you using an EBS AD-9?
Volume Drop Compensation
- If you experience a drop in volume when engaging the pedal, there is a Gain adjustment pot on the inside to compensate for the loss.
- Remove the bottom plate and adjust the level from 0 to +15 dB using a small screwdriver.
Sound Settings
- The Black Haze 2 is a fun, easy, and intuitive tool to create drive sounds with.
- Spend some time experimenting with the knobs and Type settings to find your favorite sounds and your unique blend of overdrive.

- Action if answered NO
- Replace cable(s).
- Push the 1/4” plugs in.
- Reconnect input and output jacks.
- Put a new battery in the pedal.
- Replace/put in battery, or use a DC power supply.
- Check the instrument.
- Turn up the volume or check the amp at your nearest EBS service center.
- Check the voltage and polarity of the adapter you are using.

Do you experience a drop in volume when engaging the pedal?

Depending on how you set the blend, a slight drop in volume can be experienced when engaging the pedal.
If that happens, there is a Gain adjustment pot on the inside to compensate for the loss.
Remove the bottom plate and you will find the pot as illustrated below. -
Use a small screwdriver to adjust the level from 0 to +15 dB.
