Cable Assembly Set for Heating Cables

This repair set is intended for assembly of two pieces of heating cable, or for assembly of heating cable with cold tail.
The assembly set must not be used where temperatures may exceed 60°C.

Data for TRIATAN Mastic:

Description
TRIATAN is a two-component polyurethane casting resin. A medium viscous mastic which hardens to a hard, fiexible polyurethane.
Application
TRIATAN is used for embedment of cable assemblings, etc. where good electrical insulation and short hardening periods are required.
Cables etc. to be embedded must be clean, dry and without fatty substances. Smooth surfaces should be grinded where particularly good attachment is desired.
Cleaning
Cleaning of tools: Acetone – before hardening. After hardening the mastic must be ground off. Used cloths, etc must be thrown away in seperate containers.
Flash Point . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . above 200°C

Directions for Use

When the fault on the cable has been located, you must lay bare the heating cable thus the space available allows you to strip the wires and to place the plastic joint box.
The defective part of the cable must be cut away. If the piece is bigger than 60 mm, you must use two cable assembly sets. If you have to use a long piece of  heating cable for the repair, you must use one with the same ohmic value per metre to put inbetween the heating cable parts. For short lengths, you can use a piece of installation cable as in-between cable.
The plastic cones in the set are cut off to suit the dimensions of the heating cable, to ensure tightness after filling with the TRIATAN two-component mastic.
Place the plastic box around the cable, and the plastic cones in their recesses. Place the wires in the bottom of the plastic box so that there is a maximum distance between the press assemblies.
See fig. 1 (A or B). The stripping of the cable must be made very carefully. Twist protection screen wires, and twist the return conductor wires, and assemble the conductors with the enclosed press rivits and in-between cables. Please make sure that the heat conductor wire is led all the way through the press rivet thus it can be squeezed together with the wire. See. fig. 2. Check the cable.
Read the safety directions for the TRIATAN mastic. The participation of the TRIATAN mastic bag is removed so that the two components  can be melted togetherin the still closed bag.
Squeeze the bag and mix it carefully for approx. three minutes, until it is a homogeneous substance, and pour it into the plastic box.
