Hardware/mounting brackets:
-
Start off by removing the 4 torx bolts that secure the center portion of the bumper cover to the vehicle and then remove and set aside the enter section and the bolts removed. Remove the 4 torx bolts securing
the outer portion of the bumper cover, these are located on the outside sections as shown in the picture above, none of these parts will be needed for the EOD bumper. -
Next remove the 2 plastic clips securing the lower portion of the grill to the bumper, these will not be needed anymore. From there remove the 4 factory 15mm bolts that secure the bumper to the vehicle, set aside the bolts for later use. Remove the 10mm bolts that secure the lower bumper cover brackets to the frame, these brackets and bolts are not needed anymore as well.
-
Next separate the EOD bumper’s inner structure from the outer bumper by removing the hardware with arrows pointing to them in the pictures above, the upper 2 bolts will need a 9/16” socket and the lower 2 with a 5/16” hex tool. Depending on the tools used, removing the light mount plate with a 3/16” hex tool will gain more access to the upper bolts.
-
A winch can be installed with the wiring coming out either side of the bumper to accommodate for different setups, if one is being used then install it now paying attention to how the rope exits the spool of the winch making sure it is a straight line to the fairlead machined opening on the outer bumper then torque down to the manufacturer’s specification.
-
Next the inner structure will get mounted back to the outer bumper with the hardware supplied that was removed earlier and torqued down, pull out about two feet of rope to feed through outer bumper while
assembling. If any lights are being mounted now is a good time to install them, there are holes on the top of the inner structure to secure wiring too, so it stays out of the winch rope. Also, with so many types and sizes of lights available, pay attention to make sure there is no interference with the grill or plastics of the vehicle upon assembly. -
Using the factory bolts removed earlier, have one person hold the bumper assembly up to the mounting points of the vehicle making sure the fender and grill plastics go UNDER the outer bumper. Start the top 2 bolts first and then get the lower bolts started.
-
Locate the 2 supplied M6 bolts and install them loosely through the outer holes of the bumper and into the nut clips in the plastic. Tighten down the 4 15mm bumper bolts first then the outer bolts, attach a hook to the winch rope and run it in to get rid of the slack created earlier. Perform a final check over of the work done and enjoy your EOD bumper!
