Content:

  1. : 1 × 170 mm heat-shrink tube, black 33/5.5
  2. : 1 × Shrink-on end cap, black
  3. : 1 × 20 mm heat-shrink tube, black 12/3
  4. : 1 × clamping block 5×2.5mm² 660V
  5. : 1 × 25 mm heat-shrink tube, green yellow
  6. : 2 × wire end ferrules 1.5mm² 1 × wire end ferrule 2.5mm²
  7. : 3 × bitumen adhesive strips

Heating cable end termination

  1. Cut the end of the heating cable straight. Cut off the outer sheath and CU braiding approx. 20 mm from the end, do not damage the inner insulation.

  2. Slide the 20 mm long heat-shrink tube over the heating cable up to the cut braiding and shrink it with the hot air gun, starting from the heating cable and working towards the end.

  3. Wrap the heating cable 50 mm from the end with bitumen adhesive tape.

  4. Slide the shrink cap over the end of the heating cable (with a shrunk-on 20 mm heat-shrink tube) as far as it will go over the bitumen adhesive strip. Shrink with the hot air blower, starting from the end of the shrink cap and working towards the heating
cable. Make sure that the shrink cap does not push off the heating cable.

  5. Leaking adhesive sealant indicates that the shrinking process is complete. Shrink temperature approx. 125 to 150°C.

General installation instructions:

  • Unroll the heating cable from the ring and cut it to the required length.
  • Strip the end and attach it to the pipe with a shrink cap as described above.
  • Lay the heating cable parallel or in a spiral to the pipe axis!

Caution: Do not go below a bending radius of 25 mm!
The heating cable is attached to the pipe with fabric tape, self-adhesive aluminum foil, or cable ties at a maximum distance of 300 mm.
To ensure good heat transfer, make sure that the heating cable is in good contact with the pipe on all sides. If necessary, the fixing distances must be reduced.
For better heat distribution, a bandage made of thermally conductive material, e.g. aluminum adhesive tape, can be applied over the heating cable.
If used on metal, this must be included in the selected protective measure (e.g. protective earthing) before commissioning.
Suitable measures must be taken to ensure protection against accidental contact. In particular, the requirements for the corresponding protective measures in accordance with DIN EN 60519-10 must be observed.
The resistance of the metal braiding is max. 18.2 Ohm/km. The operating voltage is 220/240 V AC.
Ensure that the heat-shrink tube is heated evenly.
Carry out a visual inspection.
A functional check must be carried out with mains voltage.
A test report must be prepared.

Heating tape connection

  1. Cut the heating cable to the required length (observe the maximum permissible length). Remove outer protective cover 30 mm.
The specified dimensions must be observed.

  2. Splice and twist the CU braid.
Shrink on shrink tube green / yellow 25 mm.

  3. Cut and remove the inner insulation 10 mm from the end.

  4. Cut into the heating element, bend it and pull it off the wire strands using fiat nose pliers. Twisting stranded wires

  5. Notch the heating element approx. 5 mm between the wire strands. attach 1.5 mm² wire end ferrules to the stranded conductors. Attach the 2.5 mm² wire end ferrule to the CU braid

  6. Cut connecting cable H 07RN-F 3×1.5 mm² to the required length.

  7. Remove 20 mm of outer insulation from the connecting cable.

  8. Strip approx. 8 mm of the exposed wire. Attach wire end ferrules.

  9. Connect the heating cable and supply cable to each other via the clamping body.

  10. Stick the bitumen adhesive strip 60 mm from the end of the clamping block to the heating cable and the supply line.DEVIpipeguard 30 Connection Kit - Fig 9

  11. Slide the heat-shrink tube (170 mm) over the clamping body, center, and shrink with a hot air gun. Always start heating the heat-shrink tube at one end. Ensure even heating, do not overheat the shrink tube at certain points as this would destroy the tube.
Shrink temperature approx. 125 to 150°C.
