Product Usage Instructions
Hookup
Each pair of Eris media reference monitors consists of an active (Left) and passive (Right) cabinet, and nearly every connection is located on the active one. This speaker provides audio and power for the passive one. The exceptions are the bare-wire connectors, which send audio from the active speaker to the passive speaker.
Bluetooth Pairing
- Turn on your Eris monitor by pressing the power button.
- Select the appropriate Eris model (Eris 3.5BT, Eris 4.5BT, or Eris 5BT) in your device’s Bluetooth options.
- Pair your device with the Eris monitor by following the on-screen instructions.
- You can pair an additional device by repeating steps 2 and 3. The second pairing will be stored along with the first one.
- Note: Audio can only be streamed from one Bluetooth device at a time.
- Power User Tip: The next time you switch on your Eris monitors, your stored devices will automatically be paired when powered up.
What’s in the Box
Active Cabinet (Rear Panel)
-
High. Boosts or cuts all frequencies above 10 kHz by ±6 dB.
-
Low. Boosts or cuts all frequencies below 100 Hz by ±6 dB.
Power User Tip: The Acoustic Tuning Controls work much like the treble or bass controls on a car stereo. -
TRS. Balanced ¼” TRS line-level inputs.
-
IEC Power Connection. This connection accepts a standard non-polarized IEC320 C7 power cord.
-
RCA. Unbalanced RCA line-level inputs.
Note: While the TRS and RCA inputs offer a choice of connection type, they don’t allow simultaneous connection of multiple sources. -
Bluetooth Button. Pressing this button starts the pairing process. The front-panel LED will flash green while pairing and remain solid green when connected to your Bluetooth device.
-
Bare-wire connectors (Output to Right Speaker). These send audio to the passive Eris® speaker.
Note: Always connect the positive and negative connections on your active Eris cabinet to the corresponding connections on the passive cabinet. (i.e., connect positive-
to-positive and negative-to-negative). -
Standby used to engage/disengage a power save mode that adheres to the EU Energy Efficient Products Directive to conserve energy when not in use.
-
Volume. Sets the volume level of the input signal before it is amplified, as well as the front-panel headphone amp.
-
Aux Input. This stereo 1/8” jack accepts audio signals from sources such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
-
Headphone Output. This ⅛” stereo connection sends audio to your headphones. When headphones are connected, the speakers will not output audio.
-
Power LED. When the speaker is switched on, the LED will light up blue to indicate that there is power, white while in standby mode, and green when paired to a Bluetooth device.
-
Power Switch. This switches your Eris monitors on and off.
Passive Cabinet (Rear Panel)
- Bare-wire connectors (Input).
These connections receive audio from the active Eris speaker.
Note: Always connect the positive and negative connections on your active Eris cabinet to the corresponding connections on the passive cabinet. (i.e., connect positive-to-positive and negative-to-negative).
Troubleshooting
No Power
Make sure your active Eris is plugged in. If it’s connected to a power strip,
make sure that’s switched on and functioning properly.
No Audio
Make sure the cable connecting your audio source to the monitor is working
correctly. If you’re trying to stream audio from a Bluetooth device
(smartphone, tablet, etc.), make sure it’s paired to the monitors. Also,
verify that the device’s volume control has been turned up.
If the passive speaker is silent, check the bare-wire connections, making sure the bare wire is fully inserted into each connector.
Hum
This is caused by a ground loop. Make sure all audio equipment is connected to
a properly grounded power source.
Thin Sound
Check the bare-wire connections, and make sure the positive and negative
connections on your active Eris cabinet are connected to the corresponding
connectors on the passive cabinet. (i.e., positive-to-positive and negative-
to-negative).
