Product Usage Instructions

- To use the Kensington PilotMouse Optical Wireless Mini, follow these steps:
- Locate the USB receiver that came with the mouse.
- Insert the USB receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
- Wait for your computer to recognize the mouse.
- Battery Installation
- To install batteries in your Kensington PilotMouse Optical Wireless Mini, please follow these steps:
- Press the battery cover release area (1) on the bottom of the mouse.
- The battery cover will pop loose. Remove the battery cover.
- Insert the batteries according to the polarity markings inside the battery compartment.
- Replace the battery cover.
- The mouse will go into standby mode after several minutes of inactivity to extend battery life. To wake the mouse up again, simply click any button.
- Receiver Storage & Removal
- To save battery power, you can turn off the mouse when not in use. Follow these steps:
- Slide the USB receiver into the track on the bottom of the mouse until you feel a click. This indicates that the mouse is off.

Note: The Kensington PilotMouse Optical Wireless Mini model 72314 has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, under Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used by the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Battery Installation
- Press battery cover release area (1) and the battery cover pops loose.
- Remove the battery cover and insert batteries, then replace the cover.
- The mouse goes into standby mode after several minutes of inactivity.
- This extends the battery life of the mouse.
- To wake the mouse up again, simply click any button.
Receiver Storage & Removal

1-Year Warranty
- KENSINGTON TECHNOLOGY GROUP (“KENSINGTON”) warrants this PRODUCT against defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for one year from the original date of purchase.
- KENSINGTON, at its option, shall repair or replace the defective unit covered by this warranty. Please retain the dated sales receipt as evidence of the date of purchase. You will need it for any warranty service.
- To keep this warranty in effect, the product must have been handled and used as prescribed in the instructions accompanying this warranty.
- This warranty does not cover any damage due to accident, misuse, abuse, or negligence.
- This warranty is valid only if the product is used on the computer or system specified on the product box. Please check the product box for details or call technical support.
- Repair or replacement, as provided under this warranty, is your exclusive remedy.
- KENSINGTON shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages.

Wireless Installation
To establish a wireless connection:
The mouse must be turned on (with batteries) and the USB receiver plugged into your computer, then press the connect button on the receiver (1). Next, push the connect button on the bottom of the mouse (2). If this does not work, try repeating these steps, but hold the mouse closer to the receiver. This step may need to be repeated 2–3 times for the mouse to synchronize. Repeat this procedure when replacing the batteries.
IMPORTANT: This wireless device is similar to an FM radio, by adjusting the antenna you can get better reception. You may also want to experiment with different locations and positions of the receiver.
Common Troubleshooting Steps
- Unplug and re-plug the mouse. Repeat the steps on Page 5 to synchronize the device.
- Test the device on another computer.
- Some surfaces may “trick” the optical sensor, such as high gloss wood, and reflective surfaces like glass or mirrors. The ideal surface is a bright white surface (such as a piece of paper).
