PRODUCT OVERVIEW
MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS
- Thank you for choosing an AQUAEL product. We are confident that you will be satisfied with its performance.
- We ask you to read the instruction manual carefully before using the product to avoid any potential problems.
INTENDED USE AND PROPERTIES.
- The purpose of FLOW HEATER 2.0 is to heat water in freshwater aquaria, paludaria and aquaterraria. The device is intended for installation on a canister filter hose (compatible with ULTRAMAX, ULTRA FILTER and MAXI KANI series filters as well as other filters with a hose diameter of 16/22 mm and maximum pressure of 0.03 MPa). It has a fully electronic, precise thermostat and a thermal safety switch.
- The heater has a smart system for selecting optimal operating power. Depending on ambient temperature and set temperature, the microprocessor-based system selects the lowest heating power needed to maintain the specified temperature.
- If necessary, the microprocessor increases or decreases the power in order to maintain the set temperature. This means that the heater selects appropriate power on its own, without the need for user intervention. This enables the heater to work in aquaria of virtually any volume (up to approx. 500-1000 l, depending on room conditions).
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
The device has been manufactured in full accordance with the currently binding EU safety standards. To ensure safe operationand a long lifecycle of this product, carefully readthe following safety rules:
- Important! Read carefully before use. Keep for future reference. Read this operating and installation manual carefully before every installation and activation of the device (Fig. A).
- The device should only be connected to the mains system whose rated voltage corresponds to that indicated on the device.
- WARNING! DO NOT SUBMERGE THE EXTERNAL HEATER IN WATER!!! The device is designed to operate only outside of aquaria. Do not install the device directly above water surface (Fig. B).
- Do not operate a device that has malfunctioned or one with a damaged power cord. The power cord is non-detachable and cannot be replaced. If the cord is damaged, the device must be discarded (fig. C).
- Do not disassemble the device.
- The device may be used only indoors and only in accordance with its intended use (Fig. D). Do not use the device in swimming pools, fountains and water features.
- WARNING : disconnect the plug or power off the device before performing maintenance of equipment in an aquarium or a garden pool. Always unplug the external heater and all aquarium devices before putting your hand into water (Fig. E).
- This device can be operated by children who are at least 3 years of age, by persons with reduced physical or mental capabilities or persons with no prior experience with the device only under supervision or following an instruction on the safe operation of the device to ensure that the person is aware of any associated risks. The device is not a child’s toy! Do not let children to clean or perform maintenance on the device without supervision (fig. F).
- INSTALLATION AND ACTIVATION. The complete heater must be hanged vertically; it should be hanged on the inner wall of the aquarium cabinet. Use the brackets with suction cups to mount the heater (they are included in the package), or the included brackets can be screwed to the cabinet wall with screws (screws are not includedin the package).
- The heater should be installed on aquarium hoses with forced water flow (i.e. in installations with a pump or an external aquarium filter) using a hose connection suitable for the size of the hose (16/22mm or 19/25mm), bycutting the outlet pipe of the external filter into two parts and connecting the two parts of the pipe to each side of the heater. The selected connector should be pressed into the heater body taking care not to damage the gasket, then the pressure nut should be tightened and then the nut stabilising the connection with the hose. This operation should be repeated at both ends of the heater. Disassembly for servicing purposes should be carried out in the reverse order. Make sure that the external heater is installed on the outlet side of the filter or the pump. Make also sure that the direction of water flow is consistent with the direction of the arrow found on the heater housing. Warning! Do not submerge the device in water or install it directly above water surface.
- TEMPERATURE REGULATION. Set temperature is signalled by constant LED operation. Use the button on the front panel to set the desired temperature in the range from 20 to 33°C. A single press increases the set temperature by 1°C (between 20 and 33°). A change of the set temperature is signalled by the lighting of the next LED. Within ca. 2 seconds after the button is released, all the LEDs will light up one by one. This confirms that the desired set temperature has been saved. If the button is pressed when the set temperature equals 33°C and the last red LED is on, the lowest available temperature (20°C) will be set, indicated by the lighting up of the first blue LED
- Apart from showing the set temperature (by constant lighting of one of the LEDs) the heater indicates the current temperature by flicker lighting (blinking) of appropriate LED.
- as long as the actual water temperature remains lower than the set temperature, the heater continues to emit heat, and the LEDs light up successively as the water temperature raises from the current temperature to theset temperature;
- if the measured temperature equals the set one, only one LED is lit (constantly);
- if the measured temperature is higher than the set one, the heater is not heating and the temperature signalling LED is blinking quickly
- The heater also has an additional temperature sensor on the heating element. Should the heater operate without water and start to overheat, the electronic system will immediately and automatically turn in off (the heater will enter safety mode). This will be signalled by simultaneous blinking of the outermost diodes (20 and 33°C). To return the heater to normal operation, unplug it and wait for it to cool, and then plug it back in. Warning! Reduction in temperature (cooling off of the heater) alone will not cause the device to leave safety mode!
- To ensure proper operation of the heater, you need a working and efficient aquarium filter. Reduced or completely stopped circulation/flow, caused by a clogged or damaged filter, may result in improper temperature in the aquarium. It may also lead to heater turning off and switching to emergency mode. Such situation will be signalled by a relevant diode.
- Avoid using the heater without water. Such operation will make the heater turn off and switch to emergency mode. Such situation will be signalled by a relevant diode. In extreme cases, operation without water may damage the thermal fuse. Its replacement will be possible in the manufacturer’s authorised service only.
MAINTENANCE
- The external heater requires no special maintenance. If necessary, clean its housing using a soft cloth. Before disconnecting the heater, remember to empty the water from the pipe to which the heater is connected. The interior of the heater pipe may be cleaned using a soft brush.
DISASSEMBLY AND DISPOSAL
- It is forbidden to dispose of used electric and electrical equipment in a trash bin. Segregating and proper utilization of this kind of waste leads to conserving the resources of natural environment The user is responsible for delivering the used product to a specialized collection point where it will be accepted free of charge.
