SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS

WARNING: Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

  • Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
  • Work area safety
  • Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
  • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks that may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Electrical safety

Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.

  • Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
  • Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
  • Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
  • When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
  • If operating a power tool in a damp location is un-avoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. The use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

Personal safety

  • Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
  • Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, nonskid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
  • Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pock, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
  • Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
  • Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
  • Dress property. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
  • If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

  • Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
  • Service.
  • Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly persons in order to avoid a hazard.

Drywall Sander Safety

  • This equipment should never be used in surroundings in an explosive or flammable atmosphere.
  • Do not let the cable touch any parts of your body. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
  • Do not force the machine to do a job that is not intended such as rough grinding, brushing, etc.
  • Only use identical replacement parts when servicing the drywall sander.
  • Accessories need to be rated at a minimum of 900 RPM. Do not use accessories rated at speeds below the machine’s maximum RPM.
  • Never use damaged accessories. Always check whether accessories are nicked or cracked prior to operation; in particular, the grinding pad support plate.
  • Run the machine at maximum speed for one minute in order to test accessories before using them to sand anything. Make sure bystanders stand clear during this testing phase.
  • Do not put down the machine until the pad’s rotation has completely stopped.
  • Regularly clean your machine’s exhaust/dust port.
  • Do not use sandpaper larger than the recommended size (9 inches).
  • Only use one extension tube at a time.
  • Always allow for reaction torque.

General safety warning for sanding operation

  • The electric tool is used to realize the tool function of sanding machine. Read all safety warnings, instructions, diagrams and regulations provided with the power tool. Failure tofollow all the tips listed below may result in electric shock, fire and /or serious injury.
  • It is not recommended to use this tool for sanding, brushing, polishing or cutting. If electric tools are not operated according to the specified functions, it may cause danger and personal injury.
  • Do not use accessories not recommended by the tool manufacturer and specially designed. Otherwise, the accessory may be installed on your power tool, and it cannot guarantee safe operation.
  • The rated speed of accessories must be at least equal to the maximum speed marked on the power tool. When the accessory runs at a speed higher than its rated speed, it will burst and splash.
  • The outer diameter and thickness of accessories must be within the rated capacity of power tools. Incorrect accessory size cannot be adequately protected or controlled.
  • The shaft hole size of the grinding wheel, flange, back cushion or any other accessories must be suitable for installation on the spindle of power tool. Accessories with shaft holes that are not matched with power tool mounting parts will lose stability, excessive vibration and cause out of control.
  • Do not use lost accessories. Before each use, check accessories such as grinding wheel for debris and cracks, back cushion for cracks, tears or excessive wear, wire brush for looseness or wire breakage. If the power tool or accessory falls, check for damage or install an undamaged accessory. After checking and installing the accessories, keep yourself and the bystanders away from the plane of the rotating accessories, and run at the maximum no-load speed of the power tool for 1 minute. Damaged accessories usually break during this test.
  • Wear protective equipment. Use face masks, safety goggles or safety goggles as appropriate. When applicable, wear dust mask, hearing protector, gloves and work apron which can block small abrasives or work pieces. The eye guard must block the flying debris generated by various operations. Dust masks or masks must be able to filter particles produced by operation. Long-term exposure to high-intensity noise can cause deafness.
  • Keep bystanders at a safe distance from the work area. Anyone entering the work area must wear protective equipment. Debris from work pieces or damaged accessories may fly out and cause injury to bystanders close to the operating area. When cutting accessories touch a live wire, the exposed metal parts of the electric tool will be charged and the operator will be electrocuted.
  • When operating in the place where the cutting accessories are likely to cut the dark wire or its own wire, the electric tool can only be held through the insulating holding surface. Cutting accessories touching a live wire may electrify the exposed metal parts of the power tool and cause electric shock hazard to the operator.
  • Keep the cord away from rotating accessories. If not properly controlled, the cord may be cut or twisted and your hand or arm may be drawn into the spinning attachment.
  • Do not put down the power tool until the accessory completely stops moving. Rotating attachments can grab the surface and pull the power tool, causing you to lose control of the tool.
  • Do not operate the power tool when carrying it Accidentally touching a rotating accessory may entangle your clothes, but the accessory may hurt your body.
  • Clean the vents of power tools frequently. The motor fan will be sucked into the casing from the fan, and excessive metal powder deposition will cause electrical hazard.
  • Do not operate power tools near flammable materials. Mars could ignite these materials. Do not use accessories that require coolant Water or other coolant may cause electrical corrosion or electric shock
  • When sanding, do not use oversized sanding paper. Select sanding paper according to the manufacturer’s recommendation. Large sandpaper beyond the sanding pad is in danger of tearing and can cause entanglement, tearing or rebound of the sanding pad.

Further safety instructions for all operations

  • Rebound and related warnings.
  • Rebound is a sudden reaction force caused by stuck or entangled rotating grinding wheel, back cushion, wire brush or other accessories. Jamming or winding will cause the rapid stalling of rotating accessories, and then the runaway electric tool will move in the opposite direction of accessory rotation at the jamming point.
  • For example, if the grinding wheel is entangled or stuck by the workpiece, the edge of the grinding wheel extending into the sticking point may enter the material surface and cause the grinding wheel to climb out or rebound. The wheel may fly to or away from the operator, depending on the direction of movement of the wheel at the sticking point Under this condition, the grinding wheel may break
  • Rebound is the result of misuse of power tools and/ or incorrect operation procedures or conditions, which can be avoided by taking appropriate protective measures given below.
  • Hold the power tool tightly so that your body and arms are in the right position to resist rebound. If there is an auxiliary handle, it should be used all the time, to maximize the control of the rebound force or torque when starting. If appropriate preventive measures are taken, the reaction torque or rebound force should be controlled at all times.
  • Never put your hand close to the rotating attachment Attachments may bounce and touch hands.
  • Don’t stand where the power tool may move in case of rebound. The rebound will drive the tool to move against the grinding wheel at the winding point
  • Be very careful when working at sharp corners, sharp edges, etc. Avoid jumping and winding of accessories. Sharp corners, sharp edges and bouncing tend to wind the rotating accessories and causing rebound and out of control.
  • Do not attach saw chain, woodcarving blade or toothed saw blade. These saw blades will produce frequent rebounds and out of control.

Power connect

To plug in the socket and use the power tool, make sure that the voltage of the power supply is consistent with the rated voltage of the tool. If the power supply voltage exceeds the rated voltage of the tool and is used by mistake, it will not only damage the machine, but also hurt people. If the voltage of the socket can not be determined, it must not be used. In addition, if the power supply voltage is lower than the tool specification voltage, it will also be harmful to the operation of the motor.

Assembly procedures

About sanding paper

Place the tool in the flat and soft surface before assembly of abrasive paper to ensure replacement quality. First take out the accessory abrasive paper from the tool box and mount it onto the disc. Back of the abrasive paper and the disc will adhere automatically with each other to achieve the functions of connection and conduction.

Sanding efficiency of the tool will reduce after it works for some time. It is necessary to replace the abrasive paper to improve its sanding efficiency. First turn off the electric tool, and disconnect the power plug; then remove the original abrasive paper. Abrasive paper on the disk shall be completely cleared to ensure that the newly-mounted abrasive paper is flat and firm, and will be easier for future replacement. Finally, put on the new abrasive paper.

The drywall sander makes use of the sand gravels on the abrasive paper and rotation of abrasive paper to grind surfaces of walls and other objects when it works. Abrasive paper is classified in sizes.Select the right type of abrasive paper in accordance with disc size of the tool. Abrasive paper can also be classified according to the number of abrasive grains. For abrasive paper of the same size, the more the number of abrasive grains on the paper, the smoother and flatter the sanding effect, correspondingly the sanding efficiency becomes low.

On the contrary, for the abrasive paper of the same size, the less the number of abrasive grains on the paper, the higher the sanding efficiency, but the finished surface becomes rough correspondingly. Therefore please purchase the right type of 220 (mm) abrasive paper as actually required during replacement. Take out the old abrasive paper; insert a hexagonal wrench into the hexagon socket hole in the threaded spindle in the center of abrasive paper sanding pad and rotate clockwise to remove the original sanding pad. Then put on the new abrasive paper sanding pad.
