Product Information
The Heating Thermostat Radiator is a device designed to control the temperature of a heating radiator. It is compatible with Danfoss valve bodies and can be easily installed to replace an old mechanical thermostat head.

Product Usage Instructions

Installation

  1. After the screen displays “AdA,” the radiator head is ready to be installed with the valve.
  2. Remove the old mechanical thermostat head from the valve.
  3. Fix the device to the valve by tightening the thread ring with the valve by hand.
  4. Ensure that the pins inside the adapter are lined up with the elongated notches on the valve.
  5. Clip the adapter properly onto the valve, taking care not to trap your fingers between the two halves of the adapter.
  6. Press the confirm key to start valve adaptation mode.

Setting Temperature
The LCD screen displays “dAy,” and the setting value can be selected for a day in a week, workday, weekend, or whole week through the rotary knob. After selecting the desired setting, press the Confirm key to enter the set menu. At the end of each set day, confirm and register the setting by pressing the confirm key. The setting will be automatically ended after setting values for 7 days are set by repeating this step.

Date and Time Setting
To set the device date and time, follow the same operation as described in Chapter 2 of the Power On section. After setting the minutes, press the Confirm key to return to the previous interface.

Daylight-Saving Time and Standard Time Setting
The device allows automatic adjustment of daylight-saving time and standard time. Select the enabling or closing state in the menu by rotating the knob. The LCD screen displays “off” when automatic adjustment is closed and “ON” when it is enabled. Press the confirm key to confirm and return.

Child Lock Mode
To activate the child lock mode, simultaneously press the Manu mode/auto mode/Holiday mode switching Key G and the energy-saving and comfortable mode Key E. The screen will display “LOC” to indicate that the child safety lock is activated. To deactivate the child lock mode, press the same keys again, and the screen will no longer display “LOC.”

Anti-Calcification (Descaling) Protection
The device provides anti-calcification protection to prevent valve jamming. If the valve has not been moved within a week, the device will automatically open and close once at 00:00 every Saturday.

APP Installation
To control the device using a smartphone, search for the Smart Life app on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. Alternatively, scan the provided QR code to download and install the app. Create a new user account if using the app for the first time. If you already have an account, click on “Login to existing user account.”

FAQ

Q: What should I do if the device shows error F4?

A: If the device shows error F4, uninstall the device and add one or two of the shims delivered in the accessories package between the valve and radiator adapter. Repeat the installation adaptation process from the beginning.

Installation

Battery installation

  • Open the Battery cover and insert the two batteries in a good direction.

Open the Battery cover and insert the two batteries in a good direction. Year: (2019-2099) default value is 2019

  • Month: (1-12)
  • Day: (1-31) Automatically adjust the day numbers of this month according to the year and month.
  • Hour: (0-23)
  • Minute: (0-59)

If the device fails to enter into installation status after the date setting is completed, the screen will have a scrolling display of “InS” and “n”, you can take off the battery and restart the process when the device enters into installation status successfully, the screen will display “Ada”, you can enter the next step to fix with Valve.

Adaptation

Note: The device is easy to install and can be done without draining heating water or intervening in the heating system. No special tools are required, nor does the heating system have to be switched off. The standard thread M30x1.5 ring adaptor(figure) can be directly used for the most popular manufacturers brand valves in the market. For some special Danfoss brand Value RA/RAV/RAVL, please use Danfoss valve adapters furnished in the accessories package (assembling as a figure on the next page). After the screen displays “AdA”, the heating radiator head is ready to be installed with the valve as follows.

  1. After the “AdA” display on the screen, the radiator head is ready to be fixed with the Valve, and the radiator head wheel axle will be at its start bottom position to be fixed well with the valve.
  2. Remove the old mechanical thermostat head from the valve.
  3. Fix the device to the valve, tightening the thread ring with the valve by hand.
  4. After installing the radiator head, press the Confirm key to start valve adaptation mode.
  5. After the “AdA” display on the screen, the radiator head is ready to be fixed with the Valve, and the radiator head wheel axle will be at its start bottom position to be fixed well with the valve.
  6. Remove the old mechanical thermostat head from the valve.
  7. Fix the device to the valve, tightening the thread ring with the valve by hand.
  8. After installing the radiator head, press the Confirm key to start valve adaptation mode.

Adaptive operation

The LED display in Figure “H” has a scrolling display for “AdA” and “_”. The device will do the auto adaptation process; if any problem, the screen will display “F1”, “F2”, “F3” and “F4” errors; if auto adaptation is correct, the device will enter into normal display mode. Notes:

  • F1 — If the valve is driven slowly, check whether the valve is jammed;
  • F2 — If the adaptation range is too wide, check whether the valve is not installed in place and whether the screw is tightened. and also try to add the plastic cap in the accessories package and repeat the adaptation process from the beginning.
  • F3 — If the adjustment range is too small, check whether the heating valve is blocked and valve resistance is too large.
  • F4 — The valve is not installed or valve travel was not detected properly. Repeat adaptation several times if necessary.

Due to material fatigue, the closing force and valve trace may be changed negatively. If the device shows error F4, uninstall the device and add one or two of the shims delivered in the accessories package as following figures between the valve and radiator adaptor. Repeat the installation adaptation process from the beginning.

Operating modes

The device has 3 operation modes: auto mode(automatic mode), Manu mode(manual mode), and holiday mode, and the device can be recurrently switched into different modes through a simple press on the touch mode key “G” (as figure). The LED “B” and “D” indicate three statuses:

  • “B” lighting on holiday mode
  • “D” lighting on Manu Mode

Both “B” and “D” lighting off in the” B” and “D” lighting cycle: Auto mode

Auto mode
The LED “H” displays the temperature as a weekly program (Temperature can be changed temporarily at auto mode by knob key when time period is finished and switches to the next cycle times temperature automatically) Short press recurrently on the touch mode key ”G”, until both key “B” and “D” lighting off, the device enters auto mode. Rotate the knob right and left to adjust the temperature value: the range is (0.5C-29.5C), with 0.5C for each rotation step. The device will be operated based on the manual setting temperature until the next automatic temperature skipping time is reached.

Manu mode Under the manual mode, The device will set the room temperature as the display temperature till it is changed to another mode, the temperature can be changed manually by the knob key. Rotate the knob right and left to adjust the temperature: the range is (5.0°C to 29.5°C), with 0.5°C for each rotation step. After the temperature is set, the device will be operated based on the current temperature value.

Holiday mode
If the temperature needs to be kept at a constant temperature within a period of time (such as during a trip ), holiday mode can be used.

  • Short press recurrently on the touch mode key ”G”, until the “B” lighting device enters Holiday mode
  • Knob key to set the duration of the holiday (by hours) and then press on confirm key then enter the next date setting.
  • Set starting date of the holiday and switch between the knob and the “confirm ” key to set “year”– “month” — “date ”–” hour”-” minute”–and in the end followed with the target temperature. and then confirm the key. If the holiday time is inside of the present time, it will enter auto mode. if the holiday time is in the future time, it enters auto mode and the device will be switched to holiday mode automatically as setting time of arrival. After the holiday finishes, the device will be back to automatic mode.

Long press the MODE button “G”. The screen displays “PRO”, and also can display“ PRO→dAt→dSt→Aer→toF→rEs→Pos” in turn by rotating the wheel and pressing confirm key to enter the relative function setting. If there is no operation for 30 seconds, the screen will be returned to the previous interface.

“PRO” Week programming
The default setting for each working day has 5 segments, and up to 9 segments can be set. and the temperature setting must include the whole time from 00:00 to 23:59 at selected programming data. In the end of day set must press confirm at the end of 24:00 for every setting. In default mode, there are 2 temperature-rising time ranges daily (5 setting values as follows).

  • The first stage (00:00) —–06:00 default value is 17°C.
  • The second stage 06:00—–09:00 default value is 21°C.
  • The third stage 09:00—–17:00 default value is 17°C
  • The fourth stage 17:00—–23:00 default value is 21°C
  • The fifth stage 23:00—–(23:59) default value is 17°C

LCD screen displays “dAy”, and the setting value can be selected for a day in a week/workday/weekend/a whole week through the rotary knob to change, and then it can enter the set menu through the “confirm” key, every end set day, “24:00” should be confirmed and registered. The setting will be ended automatically after 7 setting values are set by repeating the step.

“dAt” – Device Date and time setting
Operation is as same as that of Chapter 2 in the section “Power on”. After a minute setting, it can be returned to the previous interface by pressing on “confirm” key.

“DST” – daylight-saving time and standard time setting
Daylight-saving time and standard time can be adjusted automatically by selecting enabling and closing state in the menu. LCD screen displays “off”, indicating that automatic adjustment is closed, and it displays “ON”, indicating that automatic adjustment is enabled. Rotate the knob to switch between “ON” and “OFF”. press the “confirm” key to confirm and return.

“Aer” Window-opening setting
When the temperature is dropped rapidly, for example, the indoor temperature drops by 5 degrees in 5 minutes. the device will judge that the window of the room is open; the Device drops the temperature for setting the degree (default 15°C ) during the time(default 10:00 minute), and when the function is enabled, LED cion” C” will light on. Rotate the knob to LED display “Aer” and press “confirm” to enter the “windows-opening” set mode First adjust the drop temperature: the range is (0.5°C -29.5°C ), with 0.5°C of accuracy. Press the “confirm” key to modify. Rotate the knob right and left to adjust duration, (0-60 minutes), and step forward every 1 minute. When the duration is set as 0, the window-opening function is deactivated. Conduct a short press on the “confirm” key to confirm and return.

“Tof ”- Temperature offset correction
As the device is installed with a heating radiator, its detected temperature is near the radiator, it can be a discrepancy between real room temperature and the measured temperature by the device. We can use this setting to correct the temperature offset. Discrepancy setting can be between ±5°C. for example actual room temperature is 18°C but the device indicate 20°C, we can set +2.0°C. Inverse also. Rotate the knob to select the temperature offset(-5.5°C – 5.5°C ). and press the “confirm” key to confirm.

“Res” – Factory default setting
Turn Knob to select “rES”, then press on the “confirm” key to enter setting mode. NOTE: If the function is selected, previous personal settings will be deleted The screen will display “COnF”. and press on the “confirm” key.

“Pos” valve position
Displays the position of the valve in percentage. The data of percnetage will show the valve open status Note: After the parameters setting are finished press the “E” button to return to the main interface.

Other functions

Setting of comfortable mode and energy-saving mode
Set the temperature for comfortable mode and energy-saving mode by the “comfortable/energy-saving” “E” key as figure. In the factory default setting, the comfortable temperature is 21°C, energy-saving temperature is 17°C. Long press the touch “E” energy-saving and comfortable mode” key to enter the setting mode. the “I” Key LED lighting will switch on, turn the knob to select the expected temperature for comfortable temperature and then press the “confirm” key to confirm and turn the knob to change the energy-saving temperature and press the “confirm” key in the end to save the modification. How to enter comfortable and energy-saving modes Turn Knob or press any key to wake up the device, and press the “E” button to change between Comfortable and Energy-saving, LED zone “ I ” will switch on its set temperature between comfortable and energy-save mode temperature, the selected temperature will be mode being selected. If the device is changed to comfortable/Energy-saving mode under Manu mode, the device will continue to work in this mode till the next changement by manually. If the device is changed to Comfortable/Energy saving mode under the Auto mode, the device will enter Auto mode automatically again after the device finishes its present cycle time. Note : Comfortable mode and energy-saving mode can only be used in manual mode and automatic mode.

Stop mode
After the winter season, if users do not use the heating system any more. The device can be set completely into heating-stopping mode. In this mode, depending on the need for repair, the heating valve will be fully open/closed. Anti-calcification protection remains effective in these two states. In the manual mode, turn the knob to the right until the screen displays “On” to open completely (in a condition that the heating system had been switched off by the main Valve). Or turn the knob to the left until the screen displays “off” to close completely. Turn the knob to the left to change the temperature on the screen, device exits the stop mode.

Anti-freezing mode
If it is not necessary to provide heating for the room, the thermostat can be set to anti-freezing mode. In this mode, the heating valve is closed, unless there is risk of frost (when the room temperature drops to 0°C, thermostat will open the valve automatically, until the temperature rises to 5°C). Anti- calcification protection remains effective. Turn the knob to the left until the screen displays “Off”, indicating that the device enters into anti- freezing mode. Turn the knob to the right to change the temperature to exit anti-freezing mode.

Child lock mode
Press the “Manu mode/auto mode/Holiday mode switching Key” “G” and “energy- saving and comfortable mode Key” “E” simultaneously to open the child safety lock and the screen displays “LOC” letter. Press the “Manu mode/auto mode/Holiday mode switching Key” “G” and “energy-saving and comfortable mode Key” and “E” simultaneously once again to close the child safety lock, the screen doesn’t display the “LOC” letter.

Low Battery indication
If the battery is low, after wakeup the display with a touching key or knob, the Letter “BAT” brinks for 5 seconds and then enters normal working mode, it informs the user to change the battery immediately. this indication will repeat at the beginning of every display wake-up time when the battery
is low. if the user wants to stop the brink to pass the step to the main menu to save energy, press the Confirm key to continue immediately, the LED “BAT” will stop the brink to enter the normal mode at once. we recommend changing the battery immediately after the battery is low.

APP installation

Search for “Smart Life” on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, or scran following the QR code to download and install the app. When using the app for the first time, create a new user account to register. If you already have a user account, click on “Login” to your existing user account”.

Smart Home Hub Installation
The device must work with the Smart Home Wifi Zigbee Hub, the Hub must be installed first with the Home router. Then as a user manual indication, add this device as a Hub sub-device.

Pair the device with a hub
Long press on the Confirm key to activate the device ZigBee pairing mode, Open the APP Home page, and click on the “+” button at the top right corner of the display. In the list “Heating” tab, press the area “Radiator thermostat “Zigbee” sequence, the hub will start to search the device and follow as instructions in the APP until the device is added to the APP successfully. If the device has been successfully added, you can find it on the page “My Home”. Then you can start setting and modifying the heating weekly program in the app.

Do not dispose of the device with domestic waste! Electronic devices/products must be disposed of according to the Directive for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment at the local collection points for waste electronic equipment.
