FITCAMX DIY Fuse Box Hardwire Installation Guide

What is the parking mode:
  1. The camera will turn off automatically when parking. When the car is in a serious collision, it will automatically switch on to record 1 minute of video and then switch off. But minor collisions may not be recorded.
  2. Because it does not record continuously 24/7, it does not drain the battery.
  3. You can switch on and off the parking mode inside the APP settings.
  4. it doesn’t have low voltage protection because the camera is not recording continuously 24/7, it consumes very little power.
  5. To test if parking mode is active: when the camera is off, tap the camera directly to see if it will turn on.
  6. The parking mode video will be saved inside the locked folder, it will not be deleted automatically, you need to delete it manually.

Preparation before installation:

  3. Multimeter or Automotive Circuit Tester
  4. Plastic pry tool
  5. Wrench (Not included in the kit)

  7. Zip ties or Electrical Tape (Not included in the kit)

Installation Steps
STEP 1: FIND THE FUSE BOX

Please find the fuse box in your car. It is usually under or to the left of the steering wheel, in the glove box, or in the trunk. Please refer to the owner’s manual for detailed location information.

If you don’t have your car’s owner’s manual, you should be able to find information about the location of your car’s fuse box online.

STEP 2: Select ACC and Constant (BAT+) fuse slots

Select the fuse slot to be used, we recommend choosing a fuse with a current between 7.5A~ 15A. The fuse slot position can be view on the fuse box cover label, the corresponding slot abbreviations are written above. Refer to your owner’s manual for details.

Here are a few locations for reference:

ACC power (It only has power when the car starts):
wipper RR (rear wiper), washer (windshield washer), cigarette lighter, power socket, USB, radio, multimedia, etc.

Constant (BAT+) power (It always has power):
STOP (brake light), fog lights, OBD, dome lights, etc.

Using a circuit tester to locate the ACC and Constant (BAT+) fuse

  1. Connect circuit tester to the metal (ground) of the car.
  2. Switch off the car’s power (engine) and use the circuit tester to find the fuse that has a constant power. Then it is a Constant (BAT+) fuse.
  3. Switch on the car’s power and use the circuit tester to find the fuse that has power only when the car is started and no power when the car is switched off, then it is the ACC fuse.
  4. It is recommended to refer to the car owner’s manual to avoid connecting to the fuses about car safety equipment.
  5. Always refer to the vehicle’s owner’s manual to avoid fuses lots that could pertain to certain safety features within your vehicle.

STEP 3: Remove the Original Plastic Cover and Install the FITCAMX Dash

STEP 4: Route wire to fuse box

Run the wire along the roof, through the A-pillar, and to the location of the fuse box.

Hide the cable in the gap in the roof

Remove the rubber seal

Hide the cable inside the A-pillar

Remove the trim panel on the side of the dashboard

STEP 5: Remove the Selected Fuse

Use the extraction tool to remove the original Constant (BAT+) fuse and ACC power fuse. It is not recommended to use bare hand for removal, it is hard to pull out and the plastic housing of the fuse can be damaged. There is usually a fuse extraction tool inside the fuse box that next to the engine, or you can use pliers to remove it.

There may be a fuse removal tool in the fuse box next to the engine.

STEP 6:Select the Correct Fuse Box Cable

Matching the fuse to the same included fuse box cable. You can check the size of the unplugged fuse to select the corresponding cable. Use one of the four fuse box cable that matched with your vehicle.

If you are using FITCAMX 4in1 Fuse box cable hardwire kit it comes with four kinds off use tap cables including yellow a nd red kinds. The yellow one should be connected to the Constant (BAT+) fuse, and the red one should be connected to the ACC power supply.

There are 4 types of fuses in the kit. Choose the same fuse as the one on your car.

STEP 7: Insert the Original Fuse into the Empty Slot of the Fuse Box

Insert the original fuse into the extra slot of the fuse cable. There is a 2Amp fuse on the fuse tap cable. Please do not remove it. This is for protecting the dashcam, so there will be two fuses in each fuse tap cable.

If you are using FITCAMX 4in1 Fuse box cable hardwire kit, Please insert the ACC fuse into the fuse tap cables lot and the BAT + fuse into the yellow cables lot.

STEP 8: Find a Proper GND (Ground wire, negative pole) Spot

Find a bolt/screw around the fuse box, and connect the black wire to the bolt/screw with a wrench.

STEP 9: Insert the Fuse Cable into the Fuse Box Slot

Insert the red cable into the ACC fuse slot.
Insert the yellow cable into the BAT + slot.

STEP 10: Test the Power-on/off Status

When starting the car engine, see if the dashcam will turn on automatically.

When locking the car, see if the dashcam will turn off automatically.(After locking the car, the dashcam may delay turn off )

How to test the parking mode: When the dash cam is turned off, then tap the dashcam to see if it will automatically turn on and record video.

The blue light blinking means it is recording.
