Operation Instructions
Power ON/OFF/Screen Locking
- Power on: Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds to turn on the device.
- Power off: Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds until the device displays the power off confirmation window. Click on OK to power off the device.
- Screen lock: While the device is powered on, short-press the power button to lock the screen and turn off the display. Press the power button again to unlock the device.
Screen Orientation
Go to Screen Rotation in the Settings menu. Here you can switch between 0 and
180 to flip the screen orientation according to your preferences.
Previous/Next/Play & Pause
Previous:
Short press to jump to the previous song or to the beginning of the current
song. Long press for fast rewind in the currently playing song.

Operation Instructions
Power ON/OFF/Screen Locking
- Power on: press and hold the power button for 2 seconds, then the device turns on.
- Power off: Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds, until the device displays power off confirmation windows. Click on “OK” to power off the device.
- Screen lock: while the device is powered on, short-press the power button to lock the screen and turn off the display. Press the power button again to unlock the device.
Screen Orientation
Go to “Screen Rotation” in the Settings menu, here you can switch between 0
and 180, flipping the screen orientation up to your preferences.
Previous/Next/Play & Pause
- Previous : Short press to jump to the previous song or the beginning of the current song. Long press for fast rewind in the currently playing song.

Charging
It is recommended to use a DC5V 2A adapter for charging. The charging icon and
the battery level will be displayed on the LCD display when the device is
charging with the USB cable.
Micro SD Card Port
- The port is only for the standard Micro SD card and supports a capacity of up to 2TB.
- Insert the Micro SD card into the card slot in the indicated direction and press it gently until it locks inside. Press again to remove the card.
Headphone Output Interface
Devices offer industry-standard 3.5mm single-ended and Balanced 4.4mm
connectors. Please use a 4.4mm output only with headphones with properly
balanced wiring.
USB Port
- Data exchanging
- After booting up the device and entering the “System Setting” interface, select the “USB Mode” option and set it to the “USB” status.
- After connecting to a computer, the user can start to manage songs on the TF card.
- After disconnecting, go to “System Setting”, choose “Update Library” and click on “Scan music now”. This will load all information about music files on the TF card and will all files in the “All Songs” tab.
- Digital audio signal transmission
- After booting up the device and entering the “System Setting” interface, select the “USB Mode” option and set it to the “DAC” status.
- Install the USB Driver on the computer before connecting the player (Drivers are only needed for Windows).

Firmware Update
- When updating the firmware, please make sure that the device is fully charged.
- Do not operate the device during the update process.
Over-the-Air Update
- Turn on WiFi in the player and connect to an available network.
- In the “System Setting”, select “System And Update” – “System Update” – “Network Update” to update the latest firmware automatically.
Micro SD Card Update
- Please download the firmware update from the Shanling official website-. Copy the latest firmware file to the card, it must be placed into the root directory of the card.
- In the “System Setting”, select “System And Update” – “System Update” – “TF card update”. An update selection box will appear, press “Enter”, latest firmware will be updated automatically.
Common Problems
- It is recommended to use a DC5V 2A adapter. Using the adapter with a higher voltage may damage M1s.
- Unable to start M, it may be caused by low power or an exhausted battery, please recharge and then start up again.
- If the device is not responsive, press down the power button for 10 seconds. This should force the device to shut down. Then power it on again.
- If there is noise from headphones, the headphone’s output interface may not be connected correctly, please try to insert it again.
- When there is no sound, try to use a different pair of headphones or a different cable and make sure the system volume is set correctly.

M1s Now Playing screen shows a green or blue dot next to the MQA logo to
indicate that the unit is decoding and playing an MQA stream or file, and
denotes provenance to ensure that the sound is identical to that of the source
material. It shows a blue dot to indicate it is playing an MQA Studio file,
which has either been approved in the studio by the artist/producer or has
been verified by the copyright owner. It shows a magenta dot, when in the USB
mode, which confirms that the product is receiving an MQA stream or file. This
delivers the final unfolding of the
