B09KHN3C5Y Kintsugi Repair Kit
Hi Kintsugi master!
In a world where perfection is so often expected, we invite you to recognize
that imperfections are treasures to be embraced, not concealed. Kintsugi and
Wabi-Sabi, the Japanese philosophy of embracing imperfections, are in many
ways intertwined.
Kintsugi is also born from the Japanese ‘Mottainai’, a word which expresses a
feeling of regret when something goes to waste. So step away from the culture
of disposability & value the things you have right in front of you. We want to
inspire you to slow down, to reconnect and celebrate imperfections.
Acknowledge the person you have become throughout a journey filled with joy
and sadness, which is called life, and know that you are better with your
golden cracks!
Join us now in our exclusive Online Kintsugi Academy to learn more about the
history and philosophy of Kintsugi as well as the different repair techniques
all from the comfort of your home.

Quick Guide
From broken to beautiful in 10 easy steps:
Contains ingredients that may be harmful if misused. Read cautions and safety
information on page 10-11 and/or on individual containers carefully.
Keep out of the reach of children.
STEP 1 – SANDING
Sand away the sharp edges on both sides of all shards with the sanding paper.
This way, your golden lines will have a better grip on the rougher surface.
STEP 2 – CLEANING
After the sanding, make sure all shards are clean, dry and free of dust and
grease. Some ethanol or aceton works best for this.
STEP 3 – MIXING KINTSUGI HONEY
Let the syringe stand straight up for 2 minutes, then remove the closure and
push out the air bubbles with the syringe still pointing upwards until the
flow of both components is even. Use a tissue to collect the spillage whilst
pushing the plunger of the syringe. Mix equal parts on the mixing card. Read
the card before use.
You can leave the syringe open and standing up straight during the rest of
your repair.
Golden tip:
• Mixture hardens within 5-10 minutes so don’t wait too long.

STEP 4 – APPLYING KINTSUGI HONEY
Apply a thin and even layer of the glue mixture on only one side of the crack
using the spatula, NOT the brush.
STEP 5 – PATIENCE
Wait I minute so the glue mixture can even out nicely and then gently press
both parts together. Hold them for a few minutes until the glue is dry but
still a bit sticky.
STEP 6 – A GOLDEN MINUTE
ATTENTION! THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT STEPS! Use the brush to gently
apply extra color powder on the still sticky lines for an extra shiny effect.
If they are still wet, you’ll damage the line and the brush. If you wait too
long, the lines will be too dry and won’t absorb as much powder. Leave the
excess powder on, don’t wipe, or clean it all away yet.
PREMIUM MICA POWDER SETS
Gold has been the traditional choice for Kintsugi because in Zen Buddhism gold
symbolizes the transformative power of healing and enlightenment.
However, you can use any color of your choice, so go crazy and experiment with
our mica powder sets!
Besides for Kintsugi, you can also use it for other creative projects such as
resin art, soap, bath bombs,…

STEP 7 – REPLACING SHARDS
To replace too small or missing shards, cut off a small piece of the epoxy
kneading paste and knead well until you have one homogeneous grey mass. The
mix cannot have a black and white marbled effect.
Fill only the gap with the paste and cut away all excess. The result must be
as smooth as possible.
Golden tip:
• Once kneaded, the paste dries out within 10 minutes.
STEP 8 – A GOLDEN TOUCH
After 30 minutes you can create a new Kintsugi honey mix, like in Step 3
and 4. Use the bamboo skewer to add a thin layer of the Kintsugi honey so that
the whole grey paste is covered. Don’t forget to use the brush to gently apply
extra color powder at the end.
5 COMMONLY MADE MISTAKES
- Not sanding the sharp edges of the shards (enough). You want to see a small canal in between 2 shards when pressing them together.
- Forgetting to push the excess air bubbles out of the syringe is one of the most common mistakes. You need to do this before your repair, to make sure you have an even flow of both components.
- Adding too much color powder into the Kintsugi Honey mix makes it too dry whilst also reducing adhesive strength. Only add a tiny amount as indicated on the mixing card.
- We are not painting, so don’t use the brush to apply the Kintsugi Honey to the shards. Only use the brush to add color powder at the end of every step to obtain a high gloss golden result.
- Don’t try to mend several pieces at the same time to work faster, things will go wrong, and they might fall off or create messy results. Be mindful and patient.
STEP 9 – EDITING
When you’re done using the glue syringe, wipe away the excess and pull the
plunger slightly back before putting the closure back on.
STEP 10 – CLEANING
After 12 hours, you can carefully clean the object with the soft side of a
sponge and mild soap.
The glue is hardened out after 72 hours making it physiologically neutral. You
can now wash it and use it as a decorative piece or for dry foods. If you want
to use your item for fresh foods and liquids as well, you’ll have to post-cure
it. You can do this by putting your repaired object in the oven for 2 hours in
between 80 to 90 degrees Celsius or in between 175 to 195 degrees Fahrenheit.
Afterwards, let it cool and rinse a last time. Your item is now completely
food contact safe.
