Quick-Start Guide

Only drive and park where it is permitted and always stay on provided roads and paths. See the owner’s manual for important information regarding off- pavement use.

The information within this guide must be used in conjunction with the information in the Volkswagen Owner’s Manual. You should refer to your vehicle’s Owner’s Manual and Infotainment System Booklet for all information, warnings, and feature limitations. Always pay careful attention to the road and do not drive while distracted. Some Infotainment features can only be accessed and operated when the vehicle is standing still.

Introduction to Your Atlas Cross Sport

  1. Digital Cockpit Pro
    Allows you to customize the presentation of vehicle information in the instrument cluster. The VIEW button on the steering wheel toggles between multiple main display views. The secondary display can be selected and configured using the horizontal menu buttons, along with the vertical arrow buttons on the right-side steering wheel controls.

  2. Infotainment
    Touch-sensitive buttons control the various Infotainment functions, including radio, media selections, App-Connect functions, phone operation, vehicle functions, and the optional Navigation system.

  3. Quick Access Buttons
    The quick access buttons below the Infotainment system provide a fast, easy way to access often-used features.

    • ASSIST: The ASSIST button opens a graphic interface to allow the activation, deactivation, and modification of advanced driver assist systems.
    • CLIMA: The button opens the controls for all the user-adjustable options for the climate control system, including temperature, fan speed, airflow, and more.
    • MENU: The Park MENU button opens the Park Assist system menu to assist the driver when parking and maneuvering. Tap the Settings function icon to open additional settings to alter selections for various parking systems.
    • MODE: The Drive MODE button opens the menu to select the vehicle’s driving mode, which can affect things such as steering feel, engine sound, and adaptive cruise control behavior.
  4. Automatic Transmission Selector Lever
    With the vehicle on and the brake pedal depressed, move the lever forward or backward until the pressure point indicates you are in position. To skip a gear, push past the pressure point to the next pressure point.

  5. Start-Stop System (not shown)
    The engine shuts off automatically when the vehicle comes to a stop, such as at traffic lights. The engine will restart when the brake is released. Start- Stop automatically activates when the ignition is switched on, and the indicator light comes on. If deactivated, the indicator light comes on and the start-stop system is not available. To deactivate from the infotainment, swipe down from the bar at the top of the touchscreen to access the quick access menu and tap the Start/Stop button.

  6. USB-C Port
    USB Type C ports allow you to connect your mobile phone to your Atlas Cross Sport using the latest generation of USB. For data and charging, USB Type C ports are available in the cubby. Charging only USB-C ports are available in the center console, rear console, and rearview mirror*. To utilize USB Type C, you must have a compatible cable.   7. Wireless Charging
    Can charge a Qi-capable mobile phone without the need to plug in a cable. Simply place your device securely in the center of the surface with the display facing up. An alert in the Infotainment system will indicate when charging begins.

  8. Steering Wheel Left Side Controls
    Buttons for operating the Cruise Control or Adaptive Cruise Control* and other Driver Assistance features. Volume settings for radio, Navigation system notifications, or phone calls.

  9. Steering Wheel Right Side Controls

    • Voice Control Button: Activates the Voice Recognition System. Short press to activate Volkswagen Voice Control.* Long press to activate third-party voice control with a compatible smartphone connected to App-Connect.
    • VIEW Button: This will allow you to switch between displays. Depending on equipment, displays and settings may vary. Please see the owner’s manual for more information.
    • OK Button: Used to select settings for features in the Digital Cockpit Pro.
    • Horizontal Menu Buttons: Used to navigate through the Digital Cockpit Pro main menus.
    • Vertical Arrow Buttons: Push to navigate inside a specific menu.
    • Horizontal Arrow Buttons: Push to change radio stations, scroll through radio presets or select the next or previous media track.
    • Steering Wheel Heating: Activates the heated steering wheel. Can be pressed repeatedly to select between three levels of heating and held for one second to save a heating level. Press and hold to recall the last saved level. To turn off, press repeatedly until bar display in the Digital Cockpit Pro goes out.
  10. *Remote Start (not shown)**
    If your vehicle is equipped with this feature, the engine can be started from outside the vehicle with the Remote Start button, allowing the HVAC system to heat or cool the interior. On your key fob, press the Lock button, then the Remote Start button twice. Pressing three times will cancel the operation.
    Remote start can also be started from the myVW app. Please see the myVW page for further instructions.
    In vehicles equipped with Remote Start and seat HVAC, the following features will be activated automatically:

    • Seat Ventilation – Level 2 switches on when the outside temperature is above 68°F to cool seats.
    • Seat Heating – Level 2 switches on when the outside temperature is below 59°F to heat seats.

Touchscreen Infotainment/Digital Cockpit Pro

Touchscreen Infotainment
The Atlas Cross Sport puts control of many of its features in the user­configurable touchscreen. The touchscreen features allows access to many functions, including Apps, Vehicle, Sound, Navigation, Telephone and more.

To customize the order of icons:

  1. Touch and hold an icon.
  2. Drag and drop the icon to the desired location.

The touchscreen allows users to create customized “widget pages” with their most desired features.

To create a new widget screen using a layout of your choice:

  1. Swipe to the left, until you are on the last available page.

  2. Press and hold an existing widget, and tap the Edit button .

  3. Tap the + key and choose a page layout of your choice.
    Note: You can have up to four individual layout screens.

  4. Tap the Edit button to choose the widgets you want to use in each section. Some features are not available in all widget sizes.

  5. Change an existing widget by pressing and holding. Then, select an available widget listed below.

  6. When finished, tap the X button.

To edit these widgets later, press and hold a widget for 2 seconds to enter into the modification screen again.

  • The Climate Control widget offers several swipeable screens to best suit you.
  • The Navigation widget provides easy input of destinations and Points of Interest.
  • The Phone widget puts call information at an easy-to-read level.
  • The Radio widget gives quick access to audio selections. Tap a station to select.

Radio
The Radio widget can control all of the functions of the media system.

  1. To select your preferred channel, tap the radio widget on the Home screen. On the radio tab, tap source, and select AM, FM, Sirius XM or Internet Radio (if equipped). A list of the available stations and a frequency band selector will be displayed.
  2. Touch the and arrows to select the previous or next available station, or scroll between any saved favorite stations.

Favorites

  1. While on the Radio, press and hold a station to designate as a favorite, then press the button to add more favorites.
  2. You can access your favorite stations by referring to the Tab.
  3. You can always edit/delete stations on this tab by touching the Edit icon.

Media

  1. In Media mode, you can playback media data from data carriers and streaming services in the Infotainment system.
  2. Media sources include Bluetooth or USB storage devices. It could also include streaming services (such as Apple Music”), depending on vehicle equipment and Car-Net• active status.

Hand Gestures
Waving your hand over the temperature sliders allows you to access the next or previous page without touching the screen. Additionally, you can wave your hand downward from the top of the screen to reveal the quick access menu and notifications.

To enable hand gestures:

  1. Go to settings.
  2. Select Screen.
  3. Choose hand gestures and enable them.

The desired features are now ready for touch control.

Digital Cockpit Pro
The Digital Cockpit Pro features a high-resolution color screen capable of displaying different views, which can be selected by pressing the VIEW button on the steering wheel:

  • Summary, which shows mileage and vehicle status.
  • Classic, which shows your speedometer, tachometer, and fuel gauge.
  • IQ.DRIVE, which shows active driver assistance systems and the vehicle speed without navigation.
  • Navigation, which displays notes on route guidance and speed.

Climatronic System

Controlling Climatronic
To control the HVAC system, press the button, located beneath the Infotainment screen and the temperature and volume slider bars. Traditional controls are located under the Classic Climate tab.

  1. On/Off: At the top of the screen, tap the button to turn climate control on and off.
  2. Fan: Toggle the smaller or larger touch-sensitive keys to decrease or increase fan speed, slide across the slider bar, or simply touch the slider bar in the desired location.
  3. Temp Sync: This function sets the 2-zone climate system to a consistent temperature, based on the driver zone settings. Press the SYNC button located between the temperature displays.
  4. Temp Adjust via the Touchscreen: For small adjustments, tap the+ and – buttons. For dramatic changes, press and hold the temp number, then drag left(-) or right(+).
  5. Seat Heating/Seat Ventilation: Tap icons within the climate screen to activate or adjust intensity. Quickly access the seat heating by tapping two fingers on the touch control under the Infotainment system on the driver’s or passenger’s side.
  6. Temp Adjust via the Slider Bar: You can also use the slider bar to adjust the temperature, using the same concept. Tap or slide your finger left for colder temperatures and right for warmer.

Smart Climate
The Smart Climate tab offers climate control shortcuts, which automatically trigger the HVAC system to perform selected actions.

  • : Clears fog and ice from the windshield.
  • and : Directs warm or cool air to the footwell.
  • : Directs warm air onto the steering wheel.
  • Circulates fresh air into the interior from the outside. —-,
  • and : Temporarily, increases the heating or cooling power.

Navigation
From the menu screen press the Navigation icon to open the navigation Home View. The Home View shows your current position in the middle of the screen as a cursor that is situated to the actual position of the vehicle and five suggested destinations which are based on your last destinations, predicted destinations, favorites, or imported destinations from your myVW app.* The Home View map is oriented north at the top of the screen and the actual positions of the proposed (0-5) destinations are relative to the actual position of the vehicle.

To enter a destination:

  1. On the touchscreen, press the Navigation icon.
  2. Select the Search tab.
  3. Begin entering address information with the House number, Street, and City or Point of Interest (POI).
  4. When your search address or POI appears in the drop-down suggestion bar, select the correct address on the screen.
  5. Select Start to begin the route.
  • Requires myVW mobile app and acceptance of Car-Net Terms of Service. Standard text and data rates apply.
  • Applies to vehicles equipped with Navigation. When entering an address for another state, use only the two-character abbreviation for the state. Entering a destination on the touchscreen or changing any settings can only be done when the vehicle is stationary.

Additional Settings
Before starting your route:

  • Route criteria can be modified within the Navigation menu, select Settings > select Route guidance> Route options. OR
  • Tap when a route is active.

Cancel Active Route Guidance
Tap the X to the right of the route plan.

Alternative Navigation
Turn-by-turn directions are also available by mirroring your favorite smartphone app to your Infotainment screen. Using the maps app on your device, you can connect to Volkswagen App-Connect wirelessly if available, or you can connect by using a manufacturer-approved USB-C cable.

Car-Net Plus Navigation
Subscribe to Car-Net Plus Navigation to make navigation even smarter with real-time information.• Keep up-to-date with practical details such as online traffic information, route calculations, and map updates. Constantly updated data provides you with useful information and ensures the best possible route to your destination. Requires activation of VW Car-Net during myVW enrollment.

  • Availability is subject to your mobile network coverage. Requires additional paid subscription.

IQ.DRIVE Features

Cruise Control or Adaptive Cruise Control*

  • Depending on vehicle equipment.

Locate the Cruise Control buttons on the left side of the multi-function steering wheel.

  • Press the button to enable Adaptive cruise control.
  • A speedometer icon or will appear in the digital cockpit.

Set Cruising Speed

  1. When you get to your cruising speed, press the SET button on the multi-function steering wheel.
  2. A green cruise control indicator light or will appear in the digital cockpit display.
  3. To increase/decrease the speed by 1 mph increments, press the+ or – button.
  4. To increase/decrease the speed by 5 mph increments, press and hold the+ or – button.

Cancel and Resume

  1. To cancel the cruise speed, press the brake pedal or press the button once on the multi-function steering wheel.
  2. The green CRUISE indicator light will go off or Your last selected speed will stay in memory until you turn off the ignition or turn Cruise Control off.
  3. To resume your set speed, press the RES button on the multi-function steering wheel.

Turn the Cruise Control System Off

  • Press twice.

Set the Distance Level for Adaptive Cruise Control
Applies to vehicles with the Adaptive Cruise feature. This feature is not a substitute for attentive driving. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) helps maintain an individually stored constant speed and a previously set distance between your vehicle and those in front of you. When you approach a slower-moving vehicle in front of you, the vehicle may brake if the situation requires it. When the vehicle is no longer present, ACC will accelerate back to the stored speed. You can set the speed­dependent distance from the vehicle ahead to one of five levels.

  • To change the ACC distance interval, press the button to cycle through the distance intervals until you reach your desired distance level. When the shortest interval is reached, the distance returns to the greatest interval when the button is pressed again.

Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control
Available on select trims.

Predictive Adaptive Cruise control uses information from the Dynamic Road Sign Display system and the navigation system to adjust the speed as posted speed limits and certain intersections and curves change. Predictive functionality works with both Adaptive Cruise Control and Travel Assist.

Travel Assist System
Applies to vehicles equipped with Travel Assist.

Within system limits, the Travel Assist system enables your vehicle to steer, accelerate, and brake automatically while also keeping the vehicle centered in the lane. Travel Assist can also maintain a constant distance to vehicles in front which is selected by the driver. The driver must maintain supervision as the Travel Assist system is not an autonomous feature. To enable Travel Assist:

  1. Press the button to activate Adaptive Cruise Control.
  2. Press the button to switch from Adaptive Cruise Control to Travel Assist.
  3. Press the SET button on the steering wheel at the desired speed.
  4. To cancel the Travel Assist, press the brake pedal or press the button on the steering wheel.
  5. To resume Travel Assist, press the RES button on the steering wheel.

Assistance System Setting
In the Driver Assistance system settings menu, you’ll be able to modify select driver assistance features to better customize your ride. To access the menu:

  1. Press the ASSIST button from the quick access buttons.
  2. Touch the image that represents the feature. OR
    • Touching the will show you the system menu in list form for further selection.

Disabling the alert sound for Park Distance Control Available on select trims.

The Park Distance Control activates automatically in the event of an obstacle, such as dense traffic at a traffic light or driving into a garage.

To disable the audible tone:

  1. Select the Park menu from below the infotainment screen.
  2. Press the button to disable it.

The warning will reactivate automatically when the reverse gear is engaged or the button is pressed again.

Wireless Charging/Light and Sight Panel

Wireless Charging

Wirelessly Charging a Mobile Device
Qi-capable mobile devices can be charged wirelessly in the center console of the storage compartment.

  1. Locate the liner mat with the phone symbol. This symbol indicates the center of the charging pad, as a point of reference.
  2. Remove any foreign objects from the storage compartment.
  3. Remove your protective case (if any) and place your device facing upward.
  4. The infotainment display will confirm that the charging process has started.

Light and Sight Panel

Turning on the Lights

  1. Switch on the ignition.
  2. Tap the button repeatedly until the desired light setting is highlighted in the Digital Cockpit Display, and illuminated on the touch panel.
  • When this icon shows in green, the low beams are on.
  • AUTO: Automatic headlights are enabled. The low-beam headlights are switched on or off depending on the ambient brightness.
  • When this icon shows in green, the parking and daytime running lights are on.
  • The Climatronic defrost function clears fog and ice from the windshield. The air is dehumidified and the blower is set to a higher speed.
  • Switch the rear window defroster on and off while the engine is running. The rear window defroster switches off automatically after a maximum of 10 minutes.
  • If equipped, the fog lights can be switched on when the ignition is on and the parking lights or low-beam headlights are on.
  • If equipped, poor weather lights can help illuminate the road ahead more effectively when visibility is poor. To switch on, the vehicle’s ignition must be on.

Windshield Wipers/Luggage Compartment Lid/ Memory Seats

Windshield Wipers and Washer

Intermittent Windshield Wipers

  1. From the OFF position, move the wiper stalk one click down to activate the intermittent wipers with rain-sensing.
  2. The switch on top of the stalk varies the time interval between each wipe.
  3. The farther the switch is moved to the right, the shorter the interval between each wipe will be.

Rain-sensing Windshield Wipers

To activate:

  1. From the home screen, select Vehicle.
  2. Select Exterior.
  3. Swipe over to select Wipers.
  4. Toggle on Automatic wiping during rain.

Note: Ensure the wiper stalk is in the OFF position before entering a car wash.

Continuous

  • LOW: From the OFF position, move the wiper stalk up two clicks.
  • HIGH: From the OFF position, move the wiper stalk up three clicks.

Rear Wiper
To operate, push the lever one click away from you. If you have the front wipers on and you put the car in Reverse, the rear wiper activates a single wipe.

Service Position
To move wipers in the Service position from the infotainment:

  1. From the home screen, select Vehicle.
  2. Select Exterior.
  3. Swipe over to select Service position.

Luggage Compartment Lid

Changing and Saving the Opening Angle
The opening height of the rear hatch can be adjusted.

  1. While the rear hatch is opening, press the Luggage Compartment Lid button on the remote key fob to stop it at the desired height. You may also stop it by pressing the button on the rear hatch.
  2. Press and hold the on the rear hatch edge until the rear lights blink and a tone is heard.
    • The opening height of the rear hatch can be readjusted to the maximum height by pushing upward on the rear hatch and then repeating Step 2.

Trunk Lid with Easy Open Motion Sensor
Applies to vehicles equipped with the sensor-controlled Luggage Compartment Lid feature.

  1. You must be carrying your vehicle key on your person, i.e., in your pocket, hand, or purse.
  2. The ignition must be off.
  3. Quickly swing the lower part of your leg as close to the bumper as possible (in a kicking motion) and try not to touch the bumper with your leg.
  4. Step back to allow a moment for the sensor to activate and give enough room for the trunk to open.
  5. Once activated, the rear lights will flash and there will be an audible tone.

TIP: Avoid repetitive kicking as this will reset the sensor.

Activate/Deactivate Easy Open Function
The Easy Open function can be activated and deactivated in the infotainment system.

  1. Select the Vehicle menu.
  2. Select Exterior.
  3. Swipe over to activate or deactivate the Easy Open function.

Memory Seats

Saving Seat Position to Memory
Applies to vehicles equipped with Memory Seats.

  1. Adjust the driver’s seat and outside mirror positions to your preferred positions then press and release the SET button.
  2. Press and hold the memory buttons 1, 2, or 3 until the chime sounds.

Recalling Stored Memory Settings

  • With the vehicle stopped and the ignition ON, press and hold the corresponding memory button. OR
  • With the ignition off and the driver’s door open, press and hold the memory button until the stored position is reached.

Keyless Access/Parking Brake

Keyless Access

Unlock

  1. Make sure you have your key fob with you.
  2. Slide hand behind door handle and wait for the door to unlock. Remember to avoid touching the indent on the front of the handle or the door will remain locked.
  3. By touching the unlocking sensor twice in a row, the entire vehicle will unlock.
  4. Pull the handle to open the door.

Lock

  1. Make sure you have your key fob with you.
  2. Touch your thumb to the lock depression on the handle.

Unlock Vehicle when Approaching
When approaching the vehicle with your keyfob on you, the vehicle will unlock automatically.

To enable:

  1. Select Vehicle from the Infotainment touchscreen
  2. Select Exterior
  3. Select Central locking
  4. Toggle Unlock vehicle when Approaching

Customize which Doors to Unlock with Keyless Access

  1. Turn the ignition on and place the vehicle in Park. The vehicle will not allow you to customize Keyless Access while driving.
  2. Select Vehicle from the Infotainment touchscreen.
  3. Select Exterior.
  4. Select Central locking.
  5. Under Unlock doors, select which doors to lock or unlock with keyless entry.
    • “All doors” unlocks all doors.
    • “Single Door” unlocks only the driver’s door.
    • “Vehicle side” unlocks only the door(s) on the side where the key is at the moment.

Note:
See Owner’s Manual for further details and important warnings about the keyless ignition feature. Do not leave vehicle unattended with the engine running, particularly in enclosed spaces, and consult local laws for any limitations on use.

Window Convenience Opening
The windows can be opened from outside the vehicle using the vehicle key when the ignition is switched off. To open:

  1. Press and hold the unlock button on the vehicle key to open the windows.
  2. To stop the function, release the unlock button.

You can select the window convenience opening settings in the Vehicle settings menu in the infotainment system.

  1. Select Vehicle from the Infotainment touchscreen.
  2. Select Exterior.
  3. Select Window.
  4. Under Convenience Opening, select which windows to open.
    • All windows
    • Driver window
    • Off

Window Convenience Closing
Applies to vehicles with keyless access with push-button start.

The windows and power sunroof can be closed from outside of the vehicle using the door handle.

  1. With the vehicle key near you, press the sensor surface or lock button on the door handle for a few seconds until the windows and power sunroof are closed. The turn signals will blink once as a confirmation.
  2. To stop the function, remove your finger from the sensor.

Using the Electronic Parking Brake

Switching the Parking Brake On

  • When the vehicle is stationary, pull up on and hold the switch to engage the parking brake. The parking brake is activated when appears in the Digital Cockpit Pro.
  • Note: The electronic parking brake will automatically activate if the vehicle is traveling at speeds of about 2 mph and the driver door opens.

Turning the Parking Brake Off

  • With the vehicle’s ignition on, press the brake pedal and press the switch. OR
  • When the engine is running, press the accelerator pedal lightly without pressing the brake pedal. The red indicator light will go out when the electromechanical parking brake is no longer engaged.

Bluetooth/Voice Recognition

Pairing a Compatible Phone

  1. With the ignition on and the vehicle in Park, turn the Infotainment system on. Your vehicle’s Bluetooth system will be in “discovery” mode.
  2. From the Bluetooth menu on your phone, search for new devices and select MY VW XXXX (last four digits of VIN).
  3. A connection request will appear on the Infotainment display.
  4. Press Yes on the Infotainment display if the PIN matches the PIN displayed on your phone.
  5. If the PIN does match, press either Pair or OK, depending on which option your phone displays.
  6. Allow contacts to sync when prompted.

Note:
If your phone displays a prompt asking to connect to your vehicle, make sure to enable future automatic connections. This will help to automatically reconnect the compatible paired device to the system. Once the PIN is shown, pairing must be completed within 30 seconds; otherwise, the process will need to be repeated.

Primary and Secondary Phone Functionality
Two active phones can be connected simultaneously. Follow steps 1-6 above. Only contacts from the primary phone will be shown within the Infotainment system. Switching between phones requires tapping the phone name in the top right of the Phone screen in the infotainment system, and then selecting the desired phone from the drop-down menu.

Note: This feature is not available when the phone is connected to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto™.

Answer an Incoming Call
The Bluetooth system will interrupt your car stereo with a ringtone. Press the button on the multi-function steering wheel or the green Phone icon on the Infotainment touchscreen to answer the call.

Volume Settings
To adjust the volume of the Bluetooth system while on a call, press the Volume Up or Volume Down button on the right side of the multi-function steering wheel.

End a Call
Press the red Phone icon within the phone menu on the Infotainment touchscreen.

Voice Recognition via Volkswagen Infotainment
Many functions Including navigation, climate control, media, and telephone can be controlled using the built-in voice recognition system. Voice control can either be launched using the Talk button on the multi-function steering wheel or by using the activation word, “Hello Volkswagen.”, similar to how you would activate a digital assistant at home.

To enable Voice Recognition with the activation word:

  1. Tap Home on the touchscreen and then select the settings icon .
  2. Tap Voice control, then enable Activation word.

To launch the voice control with the multifunction steering wheel button:

  • A short press of the Talk button will launch the in-vehicle voice recognition.
  • A long press of the Talk button will launch the digital assistant of a connected compatible mobile device.

A variety of voice prompts are available depending on which language has been set in the Infotainment system, and whether there is an active VW Car-Net account for the vehicle. For full details and a list of compatible languages, please refer to the Owner’s manual. A list of example prompts can also be found in the Voice control settings.

Voice Recognition Tips

  • The contact must be said exactly as it is stored in your phone’s contact list.
  • If multiple numbers are stored per contact, you may use the shortcut, “Call John Smith work,” or the system may ask you to choose, e.g., work, mobile, home, etc.
  • For a list of speech commands, from the home screen, tap Help, followed by the Voice operation icon .

App-Connect

Volkswagen App-Connect* helps display and control content from your cell phone onto the Infotainment screen. To start App­Connect, pair your smartphone to your VW’s Bluetooth and watch as select apps appear on the touchscreen display. Need a couple of extra bars on your phone’s battery? Plug your compatible phone into your VW’s USB port, or use the wireless charging mat in the center console and enjoy all the same benefits, while getting a charge.

Apple CarPlay
Apple CarPlay is a smart way to use your iPhone while you drive your Volkswagen. Apple CarPlay helps you control tunes, turns, and Sirt suggestions, a calendar app that lets you view and manage your day, and maps that reveal more of what’s around you. Getting there just got a whole lot easier-and a lot more fun.*

Wired App-Connect with Apple CarPlay

  1. Ensure you are running the latest version of iOS on your iPhone.
  2. Unlock your iPhone and plug it into the USB port using a certified lightning cable.
  3. A screen will appear on the Infotainment system stating that a new device has been detected and will ask, “Do you want to connect with Apple CarPlay?” Select Connect.

OR

  1. Pair your iPhone to your Infotainment system’s Bluetooth connection. When the “Select a connection technology” pop-up appears, select Apple CarPlay.
  2. Select Allow on iPhone to enable Apple CarPlay to access your iPhone while your phone is locked.

You will have to have an unlocked iPhone within the past hour to use Apple CarPlay. Wireless App-Connect with Apple CarPlay
Connecting to Apple CarPlay wirelessly can help reduce the need to have to plug in your phone every time you get into the car, and it also means less phone cable wires to have to sort through in the center console.

To connect:

  1. Simply unlock your iPhone and plug it into the USB port using a certified lightning cable. After choosing to use Apple CarPlay, your iPhone will ask if you’d like to use Apple CarPlay wirelessly for future connections.

Please confirm all prompts from App-Connect on the mobile device for a successful Apple CarPlay connection.

Features
Apple CarPlay features Siri voice control. Siri must be enabled on the device to use Apple CarPlay. There are two ways to activate Siri:

  • Press and hold the Voice Control button on the multi-function steering wheel until you hear the tone, which activates Siri.
  • Press and hold Home on the touchscreen to activate Siri.
  1. Home features include:
    • Return to the Apple CarPlay home screen or to the Apple CarPlay Dashboard.
    • Long press to activate Siri.
  2. Phone: Siri can help you make calls, return missed calls, and listen to voicemail.
  3. Maps: Opens Apple Maps for turn-by-turn directions, traffic conditions, immersive 3D experiences and estimated travel time. Siri can also help with directions. Activate Siri and say, “Navigate to,” and your destination.
  4. Messages: Siri can send, read, and reply to your text messages for you.
  5. Tapping the Volkswagen Logo icon simply takes you to the Volkswagen native user interface with all the features and functions of Apple CarPlay still active.
    • To charge your iPhone only, disconnect from Apple CarPlay by pressing the Volkswagen Logo icon, then select Disconnect on the touchscreen. This will allow Bluetooth® access while charging your iPhone.

Android Auto'”
Use some of your favorite Android applications on the road through your Volkswagen’s infotainment screen. You can talk to Google on Android Auto to get driving directions, send a text, or place a phone call, hands-free. Android Auto is made to help you focus on the road while having fun along the way.

Wired App-Connect with Android Auto

  1. Ensure you are running the latest Android™ OS on your device and download Android Auto from the Google Play Store. An active Google account and an internet connection are required. If you’re using Android 10 or higher, the app is already on your phone.*
  2. Plug your Android phone into the USB port using a certified USB Cable.
  3. Press the App key on the touchscreen.
  4. Select Android Auto on your touchscreen. Ensure your phone is unlocked OR pair your Android phone to your Infotainment system’s Bluetooth connection, then select “Use Android Auto” in the pop-up.
  5. Select OK on the touchscreen for the data transfer prompt.
  6. Follow the instructions on your device to continue setup.
  7. Android Auto will appear on the Infotainment touchscreen once all the prompts have been accepted on the device.

Wireless App-Connect with Android Auto

Features

  1. Google Assistant: Use your voice to easily send messages, get directions, control media, and more. Just say “Hey Google,” long-press the Voice Control button on the multi-function steering wheel, or tap the Microphone icon on the touchscreen to get started.
  2. Navigation: Predictive navigation provides turn-by-turn directions, traffic conditions, and estimated travel time. Android Auto can predict where you want to go next based on your calendar and recent destinations.
  3. Phone: Listen and reply to text messages, make calls, or check your voicemail.
  4. Home Screen: This takes you back to the home screen of Android Auto.
  5. Music and Audio: Use your touchscreen to access your favorite artists, songs, and playlists. Android Auto lets you stream

from apps such as Pandora, Spotify, and iHeartRadio.

Tapping the Exit icon simply takes you to the Volkswagen native user interface. From there you can select Disconnect if you wish to completely disconnect from Android Auto.

myVW Enrollment Process
This process applies if enrollment is not performed by a dealer.

  1. Download the myVW app.
    Click “Sign up” and enter your email and a password

  2. You’ll get an email; click on the link

  3. Follow the steps to set up your account

  4. If you do not see your car in the app:

    • Enter the VIN found on the driver’s side of the dashboard
    • Scan a QR code or enter a registration number from your infotainment screen. To find these, go to Menu > Settings > VW Car-Net online services > Registration
  5. Create a 4-digit PIN

  6. Activate VW Car-Net to enjoy remote features

Adding Additional Drivers
Additional drivers can be added to your myVW account.

  1. Login to the myVW app
    Select Account Management found in the bottom navigation menu

  2. In the “Vehicle Management” submenu, select Additional Drivers to add a driver

  3. Complete the required fields

  4. Select the role you wish the additional driver to have (primary driver or additional driver)

  5. Select the type of access to information and/or controls that you wish the additional driver to have

  6. Select the Send invitation button to text the additional driver a link The additional driver then needs to tap the link in the message they received and follow the prompts to download the myVW app, set up their account, accept the terms of service, and add the vehicle into their garage.

View Remote Access Features
After you’ve logged in to the myVW app’, from the home page select the car icon in the bottom navigation menu. Here, you’ll be able to:

  • View your vehicle’s door and window status, estimated fuel level, and odometer®
  • Remote start your vehicle, lock or unlock your doors, and if you need some help to finding your parked vehicle, you can honk the horn and/or flash your lights
  • Set vehicle alerts to keep track of features like your vehicle’s speed and locations
  • Check your driving data and potentially save more by signing up for available insurance discounts.

Remote Start Using the myVW app

  1. Login to the myVW app
    From the myVW app home screen, select the car icon in the bottom navigation menu

  2. Choose Remote Start from the “Controls” submenu

  3. Tap Start

  4. When prompted, confirm the vehicle’s location and enter your four-digit PIN to submit the remote start request

  5. If enabled, iOS devices may use Face ID for authentication instead of entering the PIN

  6. A “success” message and countdown timer appear on the home screen to indicate that your vehicle has been started In the event the remote start request is unsuccessful, a notification will appear and ask that you try again

Lock/Unlock Using the myVW app

  1. Login to the myVW app
    From the myVW app home screen, select the car icon in the bottom navigation menu

  2. Choose Door Locks from the “Controls” submenu

  3. Tap either Lock or Unlock

  4. A “success” message appears on the home screen to indicate that the doors have either locked or unlocked In the event the request is unsuccessful, a notification will appear and ask that you try again

Honk and Flash Lights Using the myVW app

  1. Login to the myVW app
    From the myVW app home screen, select the car icon in the bottom navigation menu

  2. Choose Honk & Flash from the “Controls” submenu

  3. Tap either Flash Lights to only flash the headlights on the vehicle or Honk & Flash to both flash the headlights and honk the horn

  4. A “success” message appears on the home screen to indicate that the “Flash Lights” or “Honk & Flash” request was successful In the event the request is unsuccessful, a notification will appear and ask that you try again.

Setting Alerts

Set a Boundary Alert
To help you keep track of your vehicle, Boundary Alerts° will let you know when your Volkswagen enters or exits a designated area. You can have up to four boundary alerts at a time.

  1. Login to the myVW app
    From the myVW app home screen, select the car icon in the bottom navigation menu

  2. Choose Boundary from the “Vehicle Alerts” submenu

  3. Select the Create Boundary Alert button and set your location either by clicking on the map or searching for a place or address in the search bar

  4. Set the radius either by using the + button or by moving the slider to the right to increase the radius from 0 – 25 miles
    After you’ve set the location, in the “Create Boundary Alert” screen, you can then:

    • Customize the name of the boundary alert by clicking the “Name Alert” field
    • Adjust the date and time, and the occurrence (if desired)
    • Modify the notification settings to send alerts when the vehicle has either entered or exited the given radius (or both)
    • Set the alert frequency
    • Manage who will be notified of this boundary alert

Set a Curfew Alert
If you want to be notified whether your Volkswagen is in use during a specific timeframe, create a Curfew Alert. You can have up to two curfew alerts at a time.

  1. Login to the myVW app
    From the myVW app home screen, select the car icon in the bottom navigation menu

  2. Choose Curfew from the “Vehicle Alerts” submenu

  3. Select the Create Curfew Alert button

  4. In the next screen, you can then:

    • Customize the name of the curfew alert by clicking the “Name Alert” field
    • Adjust the time, day, and occurrence (if desired)
    • Set the alert frequency
    • Manage who will be notified of this curfew alert

Tip:
New contacts can be added by selecting managing alert contacts in the “Email alert” and “Text SMS alert” submenus

Set a Speed Alert
Get a heads-up whenever your Volkswagen is driven faster than you’d like by setting a Speed Alert. You can have up to two-speed alerts at a time.

  • Login to the myVW app
    From the myVW app home screen, select the car icon in the bottom navigation menu

  • Choose Speed from the “Vehicle Alerts” submenu

  • Select the Create Speed Alert button

  • In the next screen, you can then:

    • Customize the name of the speed alert by clicking the “Name Alert” field
    • Set the max speed using the + and – buttons or by moving the slider to the desired speed (up to 80mph).
    • Tip: When using the + or – icons, the mph value is adjusted in increments of 5 and the speed slider can be used to adjust the mph value by 1
    • Adjust the time, day, and occurrence (if desired)
    • Set the alert frequency
    • Manage who will be notified of this speed alert

Set a Valet Alert
When using Valet Alert you’ll be notified if your Volkswagen leaves a 0.25 mile radius from where you are located.

  1. Login to the myVW app
  2. From the myVW app home screen, select the car icon in the bottom navigation menu
  3. Choose Valet from the “Vehicle Alerts” submenu
  4. Select the Create Valet Alert button
  5. In the next screen, you can then:
    • Set the alert frequency
    • Manage who will be notified of this valet alert

  • Park the vehicle at a safe distance from moving traffic and where no part of the hot catalytic converter and exhaust system can come into contact with flammable materials under the vehicle, such as dry grass, brush, spilled fuel, etc.
  • A broken-down vehicle presents a high accident risk for itself and others. Switch on emergency flashers and set up a warning triangle to warn oncoming traffic.
  • Before opening the engine hood, always switch off the engine and let the engine cool down.
  • Always be very careful when working in the engine compartment, which is a potentially dangerous area in any motor vehicle and can cause serious personal injury.
