Introduction
The Schneider Electric GV2ME06 is a motor circuit breaker designed for
industrial applications. It ensures the protection of motors against overloads

Dear Customer,
Effective July 1st, 2006, the European Directive 2002/95/EC -“Restriction of Hazardous Substances” (RoHS), its recast 2011/65/EU of June 8th, 2011, the Delegated Directive (EU) 2015/863 of March 31st 2015, restricts the use in Europe in certain electrical and/or electronic equipment of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) flame retardant, and from July 22nd 2019, Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP). Schneider Electric decided to make RoHS compliance of its products one of its priorities, even if they do not fall in RoHS scope, and most of Schneider Electric products are RoHS compliant. This stance is fully in line with Schneider Electric’s environmental policy and EN IEC 63000:2018 standard.
The information below provides the current product status according to regulation in force at the date of publication of this present document. Any future changes, either in product design or in the Directive may change the status reported here. Installation
- Ensure that the power supply to the motor is disconnected.
- Mount the GV2ME06 circuit breaker on a suitable DIN rail or panel using the provided screws.
- Connect the line and load wires to the appropriate terminals on the circuit breaker.
- Tighten the terminal screws securely using a suitable screwdriver.
Setting the Thermal Magnetic Trip Unit
The GV2ME06 features a thermal-magnetic trip unit that can be adjusted to
suit specific motor protection requirements. Follow these steps to set the
trip unit:
- Use a screwdriver to rotate the dial on the front of the circuit breaker to the desired current rating.
- Refer to the motor’s specifications or consult an electrician to determine the correct current rating for the application.
Testing and Operation
Before energizing the circuit, perform the following checks:
- Ensure that all connections are secure and properly tightened.
- Verify that there are no loose wires or exposed conductors.
Once the checks are complete, you can energize the circuit by restoring power to the motor. The GV2ME06 will protect against overloads and short circuits during operation.
