Warranty & Life Expectancy
All VidaSpace products must be installed by a competent installer/contractor who has the necessary skills and experience and can take individual site circumstances into account. VidaSpace warranty will apply only to projects that have been installed, handled and maintained to industry best practices and New Zealand Building Code requirements. It is the responsibility of the specifier to determine the product is suitable and compliant for the application.
Quercus has a 7 Year Warranty.
These warranties are provided as a guideline, and actual performance can vary.
The key to maximizing the lifespan of your Querkus Products lies in the proper
application of any finishes along with proper maintenance, which may include
regular cleaning, avoiding excessive moisture, and promptly addressing any
damage or spills. Additionally, the quality of the installation plays a
significant role in the long-term durability of the products.
If well-maintained and not subjected to unusually high levels of wear, it’s
reasonable to expect Quercus Products to last significantly longer than the
warranty period.
End-of-Life Options
The end-of-life options for Querkus products depend on various factors,
including the condition of the products, and environmental considerations.
Here are some common options:
Recycling: If your Querkus product is no longer usable or cannot be
reclaimed, it can be recycled. Timber can be ground down to create wood chips
or used in particleboard or fiberboard production. Recycling helps reduce the
demand for new timber and minimizes waste.
Upcycling: If the Quercus product has some usable sections, consider
upcycling it into smaller items. This reduces waste and gives the wood a new
purpose.
When considering the end-of-life options for timber products, it’s essential
to prioritize sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Refinishing and recycling are typically better options than disposal in a
landfill or biomass energy generation. Additionally, local regulations and
recycling facilities may vary, so it’s a good idea to check with local
authorities or recycling centres for guidance on the most suitable options in
your area.

Contributions to NZBC Compliance
Clause: B2 Durability
B2.3.1 – Building elements must, with only normal maintenance, continue to
satisfy the performance requirements of this code for the lesser of the
specified intended life of the building, if stated, or: (c) 5 years if:
- The building elements (including services, linings, renewable protective coatings, and fixtures) are easy to access and replace, and
- Failure of those building elements to comply with the building code would be easily detected during normal use of the building.
Contribution to B2.3.1(c)(i) and (ii): Quercus panels have a 7-year product warranty. This ensures the product will be free from defects or delamination for 7 years from the purchase date. Querkus has a density of 700kg/m³ and a coating system can be applied to protect the panel’s surface.
Clause: C2 Prevention of fire occurring
- C2.2 – The maximum surface temperature of combustible building materials close to fixed appliances using controlled combustion and other fixed equipment when operating at their design level must not exceed 90°C.
- Contribution to C2.2: See Conditions of Use
Clause: C3 Fire affecting areas beyond the fire source
- C3.4 – Surface Linings (a) materials used as internal surface linings in the following areas of buildings must meet the performance criteria specified below:
Area of Building
Performance determined under conditions described in ISO 9705: 1993
Contribution to C3.4(a) and (b): Quercus panels achieve a group 3 fire rating with a standard coating, this relates to flash-over occurring between 2-10 minutes. Quercus panels can achieve a group 1-s fire rating when an intumescent coating is introduced, resulting in flash-over occurring after 20 minutes with a smoke growth rate of less than 5m2/s.
Clause: E3 Internal moisture
- E3.3.4 – Wall surfaces adjacent to sanitary fixtures or sanitary appliances must be impervious and easily cleaned.
- E3.3.5 – Surfaces of building elements likely to be splashed or become contaminated in the course of the intended use of the building, must be impervious and easily cleaned.
