- Insert the 3 AA batteries vertically into the open battery compartment. Place the positive pole of the first 1.5V battery on the contact where the + can be seen (Fig.1.1).
- Insert the next battery the other way round. Again, the positive pole of the battery points to the + sign.
- Place the positive pole of the third 1.5V battery on the contact where the + can be seen. This is now in the same position as the first battery (Fig. 1.2).
- Close the sealing cap of the battery compartment (Fig. 1.3).
INSERTING LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES
- Open the cap of the battery compartment located at the bottom of the Feuerhand LED lantern Baby Special 276.
- Use two 18650 lithium-ion batteries with a charge of 3.7 volts (Fig.2), which are fully charged.
- Hold the lantern so that you can read the inscription “18650 3.7 V”. (Fig. 2.1)
- Insert the two 18650 lithium-ion batteries horizontally. The positive pole is on the left, recognisable by the +, and the negative pole is applied to the spring. (Fig. 2.2)
- Close the sealing cap of the battery compartment. (Fig. 1.3)
- Charging the lithium-ion batteries is possible via the USB-C port (Fig.3).
CHARGING LITHIUM-ION RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES VIA THE USB-C PORT (SEE FIG. 3)
Refer to the illustrations under “Inserting 2 lithium-ion batteries”. Use two 18650 lithium-ion batteries (3.7 volts) and insert them correctly. Observe the ambient temperature of (20 ±5) °C.
- Note the ambient temperature of ((20 ±5) °C.
- Refer to the illustrations under “Inserting lithium-ion batteries”. Use two 18650 lithium-ion batteries (3.7 volts) and insert them correctly.

- Make sure that the lantern is not connected to the power supply. It cannot then be operated. Remove it from the power source.
- Before switching on the LED lantern Baby Special 276, check whether it needs to be charged first: The 4 lights on the underside light up green for 5 seconds when the lantern is switched on, and then they go out. You can tell the charge status by the number of lights that are lit: If all 4 light up, the battery is fully charged.
- When the LED lantern is sufficiently charged: The tank cap functions as an on/off switch and dimmer. Turn the fuel cap to the right to switch on the lantern.
- The further you turn to the right, the brighter the lantern shines.
- If you turn the fuel filler cap to the left, you can dim the light.
- Now you can use your LED lantern for many hours. When it’s time to recharge: a flashing light on the bottom of the LED Baby Special 276 indicates that you need to recharge the battery or insert new batteries or charged rechargeable batteries.

NOTES ON DISPOSAL
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on the product, battery and/or packaging reminds you that these products must not be disposed of with normal household waste, but must be disposed of separately at the end of their life. For packaging, observe the waste separation regulations in your country. Improper disposal of packaging materials may harm your health and the environment. The separate collection of WEEE, batteries and packaging is designed to promote reuse and recycling and to prevent negative impacts on your health and the environment, e.g. from potentially hazardous substances contained in these products. Recycle electrical and electronic equipment and batteries at the end of their life to make use of the recyclable materials they contain and to avoid littering the environment. If batteries can be removed without destroying them, you are obliged to dispose of them separately (for the safe removal of batteries, see the operating instructions for the product). Be particularly careful with batteries containing lithium, as these pose special risks such as fire and/or the risk of button cells being swallowed. Reduce battery waste as much as possible by using longer-life batteries or rechargeable batteries. You can obtain further information about recycling these products from your local authority, municipal collection points or your Petromax partner. You can also return electrical or electronic appliances to distributors who are obliged to take them back. By doing so, you are making an important contribution to protecting the environment and public health. The packaging is made of environmentally friendly materials that you can dispose of at your local recycling centre and, if necessary, also in your household waste. Observe the currently applicable disposal regulations if you wish to dispose of your product. Observe the currently applicable disposal regulations for the return of old appliances in your country. If in doubt, contact your local disposal facility.
OPTIONS FOR RETURNING OLD APPLIANCES IN GERMANY
Owners of waste equipment can hand it to distributors due to the obligation to
take it back free of charge. These are in detail:
- Larger electrical stores (i.e. specialist electrical shops with a sales area for electrical and electronic equipment of at least 400 m²).
- Grocery shops with a total sales area of at least 800 m² that offer and make available on the market electrical and electronic equipment several times a year or permanently.
- These dealers must take back an old appliance of the same type free of charge when selling a new electrical appliance (1:1 take-back); this also applies to home deliveries.
- These traders must take back up to three small old appliances (no external dimension larger than 25 cm) free of charge in the sales outlet or in the immediate vicinity, without this being linked to a new purchase (0:1 take-back).
- Take-back obligations also apply to the mail order business, whereby the obligation to take back 1:1 in private households only applies to large appliances (an edge length >50 cm); for the 1:1 take-back of lamps, small appliances and small ITC appliances as well as the 0:1 take-back, mail order businesses must provide return facilities at a reasonable distance from the end consumer.
Owners of old appliances can also hand them in within the framework of the possibilities for the return or collection of old appliances set up and available by public waste management authorities so that proper disposal is ensured. The following link provides the possibility to view an online directory of collection and take-back points: https://www.ear-system.de/ear- verzeichnis/sammel-und-ruecknahmestellen.
