Scope
This document describes how to upgrade the firmware on a Micron 7400 NVMe SSD
using either nvme-cli or msecli. For further assistance with this process
please contact your local Micron representative.
Upgrade using nvme-cli
- Download and install the latest version of nvme-cli from GitHub.
 - Obtain the required Micron 7400 SSD Firmware from your Micron contact or from www.micron.com:
- Firmware name: Micron_7400_E1MU23Y5_release.ubi
 
 - List the SSDs in the system:
nvme list- Note: The target name (nvmeX) for the SSD
 
 - To download the firmware, use the following nvme-cli commands:
nvme fw-download /dev/nvmeX -f Micron_7400_E1MU23Y5_release.ubi
 - To commit and activate the firmware, use the following nvme-cli command:
nvme fw-commit /dev/nvmeX -s 2 -a 3
 - Perform a power cycle to the SSD
- This is required for the firmware changes in E1MU23Y5 to take effect
 
 - Confirm the firmware has been successfully updated to version E1MU23Y5

- Download and install the latest version of msecli from Micron Technology.
 - Obtain the required Micron 7400 SSD Firmware from your Micron contact or from www.micron.com:
- Firmware name: Micron_7400_E1MU23Y5_release.ubi

msecli -L- Note: The target name (nvmeX) for the SSD
 
 - To download and activate the firmware, use the following msecli commands:
msecli -F -U Micron_7400_E1MU23Y5_release.ubi -n /dev/nvmeX -S 2
 - Perform a power cycle to the SSD
- This is required for the firmware changes in E1MU23Y5 to take effect
 
 - Confirm the firmware has been successfully updated to version E1MU23Y5
