SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
We suggest you dedicate some time reading this manual in order to get to know
this product in depth and ensure you make the most of its use. It contains
important information regarding safety issues, including guidelines for
general safe use of rigging systems as well as advisories on government
regulations and liability laws. The suspension of large, heavy objects in
public places is subject to numerous laws and regulations at the
national/federal, state/provincial, and local levels. The user must assume the
responsibility for making sure that the use of any rigging system and its
components in any particular circumstance or venue conform to all applicable
laws and regulations in force at the time.
Safety precautions to be adopted are as follows:
- Respect the working load limits and maximum configurations of the elements and of any third-party component (such as suspension points, motors, rigging accessories, etc…);
- Do not incorporate any accessory not provided by Outline; all damaged or defective components must be replaced only by equivalent parts approved by Outline;
- Do not make uncertified or unauthorized modification to any part of the system as they can damage the system, compromising its real efficiency and safety;
- Carry out periodic inspections/checks and any necessary maintenance of the system before using it. In the event of wear or accidental damage of the components, Outline will provide specific support for their replacement;
- it is forbidden to use materials, amplifiers, prediction software or anything else that is not expressly foreseen by Outline.
Outline declines any and all responsibility for damage or faulty operation caused by using the system in a different way from that expressly specified. Since the system is equipped with loudspeakers/transducers that produce a static magnetic field, it is strongly advisable to keep any electronic devices or magnetic media of any type (computers, hard disks, magnetic card, etc) at a suitable distance (approximately 1 metre) from the loudspeakers.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISPOSAL
The product is designed and manufactured with high quality materials and components, which can be recycled and reused. When this of the crossed “wheelie” bin is attached to a product, it means that the product is covered by the European Directive 2012/19/EU and successive amendments. This means that the product must NOT be disposed of with other household-type waste. Users are responsible for the disposal of their electric and electronic equipment, consigning it to an approved disposal facility. For more information on where it is possible to send equipment for recycling, contact your local distributor. Correct disposal of old product will help to prevent potential negative consequences for the environment and people’s health.
CONFORMITY AND WARRANTY
All Outline electro-acoustic and electronic devices are in conformity with the provisions of EC/EU directives (as stated in our CE declaration of conformity). The CE declaration of conformity is attached to the product warranty certificate and is shipped with the product.
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
Conceived and manufactured to give clients a flexible and easy to use product introduction to Outline, the new Ki series brings the engineering quality, distinctive lines and audio performance that have made the Italian brand an international reference point in sound reinforcement. Ki12 Plus audio performance and thoughtful design make them ideal solutions for a wide variety of permanently installed applications. The unit is equipped with 12” LF transducers and features a 2.5” voice coil for high power and reliability. A 1.5” diaphragm compression driver provides the HF reproduction. The Outline- designed passive crossover network makes it very efficient in terms of amplifier channels and external control. Ki12 plus features another Outline first, a brand new design of rotatable waveguide. Many comparable loudspeakers offer this facility but Outline’s Ki-series are the first to allow the installer to quickly and easily rotate the entire horn and HF section without any disassembly of the loudspeaker. This piece of original engineering offers a real advantage in small rooms or those with low headroom, as the HF horn can be quickly adjusted to ensure the required dispersion (100° x 50° or 50° x 100°) regardless of the orientation of the cabinet. The combination of high quality transducers and innovative acoustic design delivers excellent sonic performance and ample power handling, especially considering the Ki-Series’ price point. Additionally, the cutting-edge moulding technology used by Outline enables the company to manufacture HF horns that are both rigid and light, bringing benefits in terms of reduced distortion and easier handling.
ROTATABLE HORN
Required tool:
- 5 hex key It is possible to rotate the Ki’s horn without removing the front grille. Just loosen the four screws and spin the wheel using the two openings on the front of the speaker. Then screw back on the screws to lock the horn in the desired position. When the horn is in vertical orientation it is shown through two dedicated red dots in the openings (one on each side as depicted in the figure below).
OPERATION
MOUNTING
Ki offers many mounting possibilities: eighteen M8 points are available for multiple purposes. The loudspeaker can be rigged using the appropriate wall mount accessories (WHH100-B, TH100-B and STAND-WALL1). Outline recommends to always use a secondary safety device when the system is flown. It can also be mounted directly on a 35 mm speaker stand.
WIRING
Ki12 Plus is using a woofer and a compression driver with a passive cross- over. It requires just one amplification channel and the connections are available on two NL4 speakON connectors. Both connectors are in parallel to facilitate wiring on portable and installed systems. The signal shall be fed to pins 1+/1-, while the pins 2+/2- is designed to actively use subwoofers .
AMPLIFIER CONNECTION
The Ki12 Plus is designed to be used with one amplifier channel. It must be driven by the suggested Outline amplifiers with DSP presets , which provide dedicated signal processing for each section ensuring safe working condition and expansive dynamics. Using any other device may cause damage to the loudspeaker components and affect performance. Make sure the linked elements do not exceed the maximum number of elements per channel, specified in the amplifiers’ preset guides.
Available Outline amplifiers: GTA series, TTM Series.
Two presets are available in order to deliver the optimal frequency response for each section of the system, according to the application:
- Full Range;
- High-pass, designed to use with companion subwoofers.
Outline declines any responsibility (as well as expired warranty) in case of use with settings other than the official ones provided by Outline library, as these would involve risks for the sound system.
