Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is there white residue in my water tank, inner chamber, and nozzle after using my humidifier?

A: After extended use, a white residue may form in the water tank, inner chamber, and nozzle. This is related to the softness and hardness of the water in the humidifier. The white residue is a byproduct of hard water, which is water with a higher content of minerals such as calcium or magnesium ions. To prevent the white residue from forming, we recommend using filtered or distilled water.

Q: Why does the humidifier produce mist intermittently or no mist when using the warm or cool mist function?

A: There is scale deposited in the water tank, and it affects the function of the atomizer. Please clean the humidifier and remove the scale regularly by referring to the instructions in the user manual. Try again after cleaning.

Q: Why is white dust accumulating on my furniture, such as curtains and desks, after using the warm mist function?

A: If you are using unpurified water, the process of producing warm mist will intensify the reaction of the calcium and magnesium, resulting in white dust. When the mineral absorption pad is saturated (hardened or filled with scale deposits), more white dust will be blown out with the mist. In this case, please check the mineral absorption pad regularly and replace it promptly if necessary, or use filtered or distilled water.

Q: The area around the humidifier is damp after I’ve used it. Is my water tank leaking?

A: When there is poor air circulation, or if the programmed mist level is too high, the surrounding area may be damp/wet after use. We recommend placing the humidifier on a flat surface, such as a table or nightstand, and selecting the appropriate humidity level based on the size of your room. Contact Customer Support if your water tank is leaking.

Q: Why is there a boiling sound when using the warm mist function?

A: To produce warm mist, the heating elements need to boil the water inside the tank. Therefore, the boiling sound is normal.

Q: Why can’t I smell the essential oils that have been added to the aroma pad?

A: You may be using a low-volatile or lightly scented essential oil, which is harder to diffuse. Please add more essential oils or change to another high-volatile essential oil with a stronger smell.

Q: How do I turn off the indicators of the display?

A: Go to the details page of the product in Govee Home App and disable Display.

Q: Why is the humidifier putting out warm mist even though it is set to the cool mist
setting?

A: You might have used the warm mist function and the water inside the tank is still warm or the heating element is still warm. Therefore, the mist put out is warm even after setting it to the cool mist. Allow the humidifier to cool down for 30 minutes before using it for cool mist.

Q: Why is the display showing the wrong humidity level?

A: If the humidifier is placed too close to a wall or in a corner, the built-in humidity sensor cannot provide a proper reading for the relative humidity in the room. The humidity sensor will also give an improper reading if it is exposed to dust. Avoid using the humidifier in dusty rooms. If you have a Govee or GoveeLife Bluetooth Thermo-Hygrometer, it is recommended to bind it in the app to bring you more accurate ambient humidity data and automatic functions.

Q:  Why are my absorption pads still hard or stiff after washing them out?

A: The mineral absorption pads can no longer be used. You can purchase the items by searching for “GoveeLife Mineral Absorption Pads”.

Q: Why does the humidity data remain at 90+?

A: There might be water leaks, or the water has entered the base when cleaning, resulting in the sensor’s malfunction. Please leave it for 1-2 days. The sensor function will be gradually restored after the internal parts are dry.
