Product Usage Instructions

Step 1: Determine Pole Specifications
Refer to the ordering information section to determine the specifications of the RSAE pole required for your project. Take note of the series, height, shaft thickness, mounting, poledrilling, finish, and any additional options required.

Step 2: Installation

  1. Prepare the installation site by ensuring a suitable foundation or footing is in place. The foundation/footing should be constructed by others according to local regulations.
  2. Position the pole in the desired location and ensure it is level.
  3. Use the provided galvanized anchor bolts to secure the pole to the foundation/footing. Each pole requires four anchor bolts.
  4. Tighten the anchor bolts using the provided washers and nuts to ensure a secure installation.

Step 3: Mounting Luminaires

  1. Determine the desired side or top mounting location for the luminaires on the pole.
  2. Use the appropriate mounting orientation logic shown in the ordering information section to specify the mounting location.
  3. Install the luminaires on the specified mounting location using the universal drill pattern (UDP) provided on top of the pole. Refer to the UDP drill patterns for specific mounting options.

FAQ

  • Can I customize the finish of the RSAE poles?
Yes, you can contact the factory for custom color options.

  • What are the available accessories for the RSAE poles?
The accessories are ordered separately. Please refer to the separate accessory catalog for more information.

APPLICATIONS
Lighting installations for side and top mounting of luminaires with effective projected area (EPA) not exceeding maximum allowable loading of the specified pole in its installed geographic location.

OPTION ORIENTATION

Follow the logic below when ordering location-specific options. For each option, include its orientation (in degrees) and its height (in feet).

Example: Option C07 should be ordered as: RSAE20-40A-TA-E1-DBT-CO7-0-15 (.5″ coupling on the handhole/arm side of pole, 15 feet up from the pole base) 1’ spacing required between option. Consult factory for other configurations.

  1. Allowable EPA, to determine max pole loading weight, multiply allowable EPA by 30
  2. The tables for allowable pole EPA are based on the ASCE 7-05 Wind Map or the Florida Region Wind Map for the 2010 Florida Building The Wind Maps are intended only as a general guide and cannot be used in conjunction with other maps. Always consult local authorities to determine maximum wind velocities, gusting and unique wind conditions for each specific application
  3. Allowable pole EPA for job site wind conditions must be equal to or greater than the total EPA for fixtures, arms, and accessories to be assembled Responsibility lies with the specifier for correct pole selection. Installation of poles without luminaires or attachment of any unauthorized accessories to poles is discouraged and shall void the manufacturer’s warranty
  4. Wind speeds and listed EPAs are for ground-mounted Poles mounted on structures (such as bridges and buildings) and must consider vibration and coefficient of height factors beyond this general guide; Consult local and federal standards
  5. Wind Induced Vibration brought on by steady, unidirectional winds and other unpredictable aerodynamic forces are not included in wind velocity Consult Current’s Pole Vibration Application Guide for environmental risk factors and design considerations:  http://images.salsify.com/image/upload/s–Uk0Lfj10–/bf7prkg0aey64uqoipso
  6. Extreme Wind Events like, Hurricanes, Typhoons, Cyclones, or Tornadoes may expose poles to flying debris, wind shear, or other detrimental effects not included in wind velocity ratings

Due to our continued efforts to improve our products, product specifications are subject to change without notice. Unwrap poles immediately upon receipt to avoid condensation build-up and possible corrosion.

Note: There will be a weld witness mark on the side of the pole with the factory-installed VM2.
