About this Guide

The KB9000 bump bar is designed to allow operators to bump off orders and interact with the KDS screen.

This guide provides instructions on how to use the bump bar.

Bump Bar Functionality

The bump bar allows you to perform various operations on orders displayed on the KDS screen.

Main Screen Operations

To bump orders in tiles 1 to 9, simply press the key associated with the tile number. This will bump the order associated with that tile number.

To bump orders in tiles 10 to 99, follow these steps:

  1. Press the 10 key.
  2. Press the key for the tens digit.
  3. Press the key for the one digit.
  • This will bump the order associated with that tile number.
  • In case an order becomes stuck on the Expo screen, you can force bump it by pressing “Force Bump” followed by the tile number of the order.
  • To view new orders that are not visible on the main screen, Press “the next page/window of orders”. To shift back to the previous page/window of orders, press “the previous page/window of orders”.

Scroll Mode

  • Scroll mode allows you to select individual items within an order to bump only that item or display its recipe or instructions.

Entering/Exiting Scroll Mode

  • To enter or exit Scroll mode, press the designated key. The Scroll icon will appear on the KDS screen header to indicate that you are in Scroll mode, and it will disappear when Scroll mode is exited.

Selecting Tiles 1-9 in Scroll Mode

  • To select the tile associated with the desired order, press the tile number.
  • The first item in that tile will become highlighted.
  • Selecting Tiles 10-99 in Scroll Mode

Follow these steps to select tiles 10-99 in Scroll mode:

  1. Press the 10 key.
  2. Press the key for the tens digit.
  3. Press the key for the one digit.

The first item in that tile will become highlighted.

Item Selection and Bumping

  • In Scroll mode, you can select the next or previous item in an order by pressing the respective keys. Only items within the current order are selectable.
  • To bump an item and its associated modifiers, press the designated key. If the bumped item is the only item in an order or the last item to be bumped off, the entire order will be bumped off and Scroll mode will be exited.
  • If there are other un-bumped items in the order, the bumped item will become struck-through.
  • You can un-bump items by pressing the designated key again.
  • To view the recipe or instructions for a selected item, press the designated key. The recipe/instructions will appear in a popup window, which can be removed by pressing the designated key again.

Overview

  • The KB9000 bump bar allows the operator to bump off orders and interact with the KDS screen. It connects to the TrueOrder KDS device via USB. The part number for the KB9000 bump bar supported:

  • Note: The bump bar is fully programmable so if you have a KB9000 with a different template you can consult the Appendix for the key mapping. How to program is beyond the scope of this document.

Bump Bar Functionality

Main Screen Operations

Bumping orders in tiles 1 to 9:

  • A single press of the key 1 will 9 bump the order associated with that tile number.

Bumping orders in tiles 10 to 99:

  1. Press the 10 key:
  2. A single press of the key 1 to 9 for the tens digit, followed by a key for 10 a 0 or 1 to 9 for any other one’s digit.

Force Bump:

  • Pressing followed by the tile number will force bump the order associated with that tile. This is useful in the rare circumstance an order becomes stuck on the Expo screen.

Viewing Off-Screen Orders

  • To see new orders that are not visible on the main screen press: will shift to the next page/window of orders.
  • Pressing will shift back to the previous page/window of orders.

Selecting the next item in an order

  • Press to select the next item in the order. Only items within the current order are selectable.
  • Selecting the previous item in an order
  • Press to select the previous item in the order. Only items within the current order are selectable.

Bumping/Un-bumping an item

  • Press to bump the item and associated modifiers. If it is the only item in an order or the last item to be bumped off the entire order will be bumped off and Scroll mode exited.
  • If there are other un-bumped items in the order then the item will become struck-through.
  • Items can be un-bumped by pressing again.
Viewing Recipe/Instructions for an item
  • Press to bring up the recipe/instructions for the item currently selected. It will appear in a popup window which can be removed by pressing Summary again.

Order Recall

  • Orders that have been bumped can be viewed in a list in the Order Recall window.

Opening/Closing the Order Recall Window

  • Press to open/close the Order Recall Window. Bumped orders appear on the Recall screen – with the last bumped order at the top and highlighted.

Recalling Orders 1 to 9:

  • A single press of the key 1 will 9 recall the order associated with that ticket number.

Recalling Orders in tickets 10 to 99:

  1. Press the 10 key: 10
  2. A single press of the key 1 to 9 indicates the tens digit, followed by 10 bumping Order # 1 to 9 indicates the one’s digit.

Offscreen Orders:

  • To see new orders that are not visible on the main screen press: will shift to the next page/window of orders.
  • Pressing will shift back to the previous page/window of orders.

Expanded Order View

  • An order can be selected to be viewed in its pop-up window. This is convenient if orders span multiple windows and it’s desirable to see the entire order in its window or if an order in the last tile extends off-screen.

Selecting an Order

  • Press followed by the tile number for the order:

  • Press the tile number 1 to 9 and select the tile associated with the desired order.

Selecting Tiles 10-99:

  1. Press the 10 key: 10
  2. A single press of the key 1 to 9 for the tens digit, followed by a key 10 for a 0 1 or to 9 for any other one’s digit.

Appendix A – Key Mapping

KB 9000s that may have other templates/legends installed can be reprogrammed according to the mapping in the following table using KB 9000 keyboard USB Software Utility:
