NOCH 60112 Static Grass Machine
Gras-Master 3.0
Thank you for purchasing the NOCH Gras-Master 3.0. This third generation of
the NOCH flocking device makes it possible for you to achieve better and more
realistic results in creating meadows and patches of grass.
And it works that simple
- The ground to be flocked with grass is coated with special NOCH Grass Glue (ref. 61130 or 61131).
- The grass fibres are loaded into the grass container. Different lengths and colours can thus be mixed.
- The crocodile clip (counter-pole) is fastened near the surface where the grass is to be applied.
- Due to the electrostatic charge, the grass fibres stand vertically in the glue bed.
Introductions
Find application possibilities, recipes and ideas for your model landscape design on www.noch.com and the YouTube channel www.noch.de/youtube. Brush some NOCH Grass Glue, item no. 61130 or the NOCH Grass Glue XL, item no. 61131 onto the area that you want to flock with grass. Fill the glass container of the Gras-Master 3.0 maximally 2/3 full with NOCH Grass. Depending on the length of the grass fibres choose the suitable sieve. The fine sieve can be used for 1.5 mm to 2.5 mm grass and snowflakes. The medium sieve is appropriate for grass fibres of 2.5 mm to 6 mm in length (Scatter Grass, Master Grass Blends, Wild Grass). The coarse sieve is to be used for 6 mm to 12 mm long fibres (Wild Grass and Wild Grass XL). These are recommendations and may be adjusted by yourself according to your requirements. Now attach the alligator clip to the landscape in the area that you want to cover with grass. For this purpose, you can use a small nail or a fixing pin. Switch on the Gras-Master 3.0 (the red LED lamp is on) and gently shake the device over the area covered with glue. After the glue has dried you can vacuum off the loose grass fibres and apply them later again. When you finish your work, always switch the Gras-Master 3.0 off (the LED lamp goes out).
Function
The centrepiece of the Gras-Master 3.0 is an electronic circuit transforming
the 9 V battery voltage into a stable, negative high voltage of up to
approximately 11 kV DC. The bottom of the grass container is coated with a
conductive special varnish. This layer is connected with the high voltage (up
to approximately 11 kV ), while the earth (0 V) is connected to the earth
cable. During operation, a strong electric field is formed between the high
voltage and the earth. The grass fibres are negatively charged in the
container by the escaping electrons. After passing through the sieve, the
fibres are attracted by the substrate surface connected to the earth, where,
after adhering to the previously applied adhesive layer, they align themselves
vertically due to the electric field. Therefore an electrically conductive
substrate is necessary for a good function, which is achieved by the
conductive special adhesive. Even after switching off the device, the high
voltage is still present for a short time. Therefore do not touch the bottom
of the grass container, not even when removing the remaining material. Due to
the special construction, that is protected by registered design, a minimum
power consumption and a maximum of safety is achieved.

- Please observe the WEEE directive in the version currently applicable.
- Remove any batteries from the product before scrapping it.
Suitable accessories
Sieves Set, 3 parts
The Sieves Set contains one fine, one medium and one coarse sieve. The rule of
thumb is the shorter the grass fibre, the finer the sieve. The fine sieve can
be used for 1.5 mm to 2.5 mm grass and snowflakes. The medium sieve is
appropriate for grass fibres of 2.5 mm to 6 mm in length. The coarse sieve is
to be used for 6 mm to 12 mm long fibres. But dare to experiment, too: If you
place long grass fibres in the medium sieve, fewer fibres will reach the
ground. Dry, sparse meadows can be depicted in this way, or different grass
fibres can be carefully mixed on the substrate. There’s no limit to your
imagination!
60114 Sieves Set, 3 parts
each 1 sieve fine, medium and coarse for the Gras- Master 3.0 and the Gras-
Master 3.0 PROFI
Grass Flocking Templates, 5 pieces
With the templates, you can quite easily design partially covered areas. The
results are edges, tufts, stripes, areas and various patches of grass. You can
use the templates in two ways: Either you apply Grass Glue (ref. 61130 or
61131) onto the substrate first, loosely hold the template over it and then
flock through the gap onto the wet glue. Or you can spray Spray Glue “Haftfix”
(ref. 61151, see below) onto a surface using a template resting on the
substrate. You can then flock without holding the template. Individual gaps in
the templates can be blocked with masking tape. Again: Dare to experiment!
Grass Glue
The NOCH Grass Glue was specifically designed for electromagnetic flocking. In comparison with conventional adhesive and wood glue, it has the following features and advantages:
- perfect consistency: it is easy to spread without running
- it sets slowly: You can flock to your areas without time pressure, so there are no “bare” spots in your meadow
- it dries out perfectly transparent: no white streaks
- it has a high adhesive strength: the adhesive strength is significantly stronger than, for example, diluted wood glue
Spray Glue “Haftfix”
- The universal Spray Glue is suitable for all types of glueing tasks – for modelling as well as around the home.
