Machine Setup
- Water and other liquids can damage the tank and the machine. Do not operate the machine without water: ensure that there is enough water inside the tank.
- Insert the power plug into the power socket. Press one of the two power/activation buttons to turn on the machine.
Frother Setup
During the first use of the frother, remove all cardboard and plastic
packaging. Insert the frother onto the electrical base, ensuring it is
correctly positioned. When the frother is inserted onto the base, the machine
emits a long acoustic signal.
Accessory Insertion
- Do not use the frother without inserting the whisk. Remove the lid from the frother. Insert the whisk inside the frother.
- To heat and froth milk, fill the frother with a maximum of 120 ml (FOAM level). To heat and blend milk, fill the frother with a maximum of 180 ml (MILK level).
- Place the lid on the frother.
First Use Cleaning Cycle
- Before using the machine, perform a preliminary cleaning cycle. Remove the lid and fill the frother with fresh drinking water (non-carbonated) up to the MILK level mark (180 ml).
- Press the multifunction button to start the cleaning cycle.
- Place the lid on the frother.
- The machine emits a double acoustic signal to indicate the end of the cleaning cycle. Remove the frother from the base, empty it,and clean all its components.

Intended use
This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as- staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
- farm houses;
- by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
- bed and breakfast type environments.
- The improper use of the machine may cause possible injuries.
- It is prohibited to make any technical changes to the machine.
- The machine may not be used by children under 8 years of age or persons with physical, sensory or mental impairment, or lacking the necessary experience, un-less supervised or after being instructed in the safe use of the machine and un-derstanding the potential dangers. Do not let children play with the machine. The necessary cleaning and maintenance must not be carried out by children if not under direct supervision.

Installation site
- Place the coffee machine in a safe place, where nobody may overturn it or be injured by it. Do not keep the machine at a temperature below 5°C (41°F) as freezing may damage it.
- Do not use the coffee machine outdoors.
- Do not place the machine on very hot surfaces or close to flames.
- The coffee machine shall, when it is not used, not be stored inside a cabinet.

Power supply
- The coffee machine shall be connected only to adequate power sockets equipped with grounding means.
- The voltage must match the one on the appliance identification plate.

Power supply cable
- Do not operate the coffee machine if the power cord is damaged.
- If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer (or the latter’s technical service staff) or, in any case, by a person duly qualified to do that, in order to
- prevent any risk. Do not pass the power cable for angles and sharp edges, over very hot objects, and protect it from oil.
- Do not carry or pull the coffee machine holding it by the power cord.
- Do not remove the plug by pulling the power cord, do not touch it with wet hands. Power cord should not hang loose from tables or shelves.

- Live parts should never come into touch with water.
- This unit shall not be dipped into any liquid.
- Protect children under 8 years of age
- Prevent children from playing with the machine.
- Children are not aware of the risks related to electric household appliances. Do not leave the machine packaging materials within the reach of children.

Danger of burns
- Do not touch the hot parts (cartridge holder group) of the machine immediately after use. While dispensing the drink, pay attention to any possible splashes of hot liquid.

Cleaning
- Before cleaning, unplug the machine and let it cool down.
- Do not immerse the machine in water! It is strictly forbidden to tamper with the internal parts of the machine. Change the water in the tank if not used for 3 days. To prevent damage to the appliance do not use alkaline cleaning agents when cleaning, use a soft cloth and a mild detergent.

Storing the machine
- If the machine remains inactive for a long time, unplug it and store it in a dry place out of reach of children. Keep it protected from dust and dirt.

Servicing / Maintenance
- In case of failure, problems or a suspected fault resulting from falling of the machine, immediately unplug the machine.
- Do not attempt to operate a faulty machine. Servicing and repairs can only be performed by Authorized Service Centres. All liability for damages resulting from work not carried out by professionals is declined.

Water tank
- Fill the tank only with fresh, non-sparkling, drinking water. Do not operate the machine if the water is not at least above the minimum level indicated on the tank.

Capsule compartment

Only Lavazza or compatible capsules must be introduced in the capsule- holder; do not put in your fingers or any other object.

Machine disposal at the end of its operational life
I NFORMATION FOR THE USER: the symbol of the crossed-out wheeled bin on the appliance or its packaging indicates that the product must be disposed of separately from other waste at the end of its operational life. The user must therefore take the appliance to be disposed of to an appropriate separate collection centre for electrical and electronic equipment. Appropriate separate waste collection, in view of the decommissioned equipment’s recycling, processing and environment-friendly disposal, helps avoiding possible adverse effects both on the environment and the public health and, also, promotes the reuse and/or recycling of the materials the machine is made up of. Specific administrative sanctions provided for by current regulations will be applied for illicit disposal of the product by the user.

MACHINE SETTING
No liability is held for damage caused by
- incorrect use not in accordance with the intended purposes;
- repairs not carried out by authorized service centres;
- tampering with the power supply cable;
- tampering with any parts of the machine;
- the use of non-original spare parts and accessories;
- failure to descale;
- storage at temperatures below 4°C (39,2°F);
- use in places with temperature below 10°C (50°F) or above 40°C (104°F);
- use in places with relative humidity above 95%;
- use of capsules others than indicated.
- In these cases, the warranty is not valid.
STARTING THE MACHINE
Place the coffee machine on a flat and stable surface, far from water and heat
sources. Machine damages due to non-observance of these indications are not
covered by warranty.
Remove any packaging materials and check that all com-ponents are present.

Lift and remove the cover, then the water tank itself.
-
Rinse the tank before using it.
-
Fill the water tank up to the MAX level indicated, using only fresh drinking water. Fit the tank back into place, then close by using the cover. Hot water and other liquids can damage the tank and the machine. Do not operate the machine with-out water: make sure that there is enough water in the tank.

The machine rear features two outlets that can be used for the power cord. You should use the most suitable outlet for your needs.

Fit the supply plug into the power outlet.
-
Press one of the switch-on/supply buttons to switch the macchine on.
-
The coffee machine starts the heating cycle. The switch-on/supply buttons will start blinking to a light white.
During the heating cycle, you can book the drink, pressing one of the switch- on /supply buttons. The drink will be released after the end of the heating cycle. -
The machine will be ready for use when the switch-on/ supply buttons light up to a steady white light white light.

At first power-on, supply at least 0.5 liters of water without capsule placing a container under the coffee spout.
STAND-BY FUNCTION
To ensure the energy conservation the machine automatically passes to the
stand-by mode after 9 minutes of not being used. The machine can be set to the
stand-by mode manually, first of the 9 minutes’ time, by keeping both but-tons
pressed down for at least 3 seconds. This mode is indicated by the switching
off of the buttons. The machine can be reactivated by pressing the buttons
again.
STARTING THE MILK FROTHER
- Before the appliance is used for the first time, or after extended periods of non-use, it should be thoroughly cleaned as described in the section “MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING”.
- This appliance can only be operated with original accessories provided by the manufacturer. No li-ability will be assumed for any damage caused by misuse of the milk frother or non-compliance with the instructions contained in this manual.
- The first time you use the milk frother, remove all card-board and plastic packaging. Insert the milk frother on the power base, make sure to position it correctly.
- When inserting the milk frother on the power base, the appliance will sound a long acoustic signal.
- This appliance has only been designed to heat and froth milk. Do not put any other types of liquid or solid substances in the container, other than those indicated by Lavazza. Do not leave the milk frother unguarded when operating. Do not leave the milk frother unattended when in use.
Make sure the base contact area is clean and dry.
FILLING AMOUNT
- Always respect the level marked inside the container.
- Do not operate the milk frother with an empty con-tainer or with a quantity of milk below the MIN level (60 ml). This can cause the appliance to overheat. In case of overheating, the appliance will automat-ically turn off. Do not fill the milk frother over the MILK level, it may cause hot milk to splash.
- To warm and whisk milk, fill the milk frother to max. 120 ml (FOAM level).
- To warm and blend milk, fill the milk frother to max. 180 ml (MILK level).

Do not use the milk frother without inserting the whisk.
- Remove the milk frother cover.
- Insert the whisk inside the milk frother.
- Put the cover on the milk frother.
CLEAN CYCLE FIRST USE
Before using the appliance carry out a preliminary clean-ing cycle.
- Remove the cover and fill the milk frother with fresh, non-aerated drinking water up to the MILK level mark (120 ml).
- Put the cover on the milk frother.
- Press the multifunction button to start the cleaning cycle.
- The appliance sounds a double acoustic signal to indi-cate the end of the cleaning cycle.
- Remove the milk frother from the base, empty it and clean all the components.
PREPARING THE COFFEE
ESPRESSO DELIVERY
- Make sure that the switch-on/supply buttons lights up to a steady white light.
- Never put fingers or objects in the capsule-holder. Only Lavazza or compatible capsules must be introduced in the capsule-holder.
- Single-dose capsules are prepared to dispense one coffee/product. DO NOT use the capsules more than once. Inserting two or more capsules can cause the machine to malfunction.
- Place the cup under the coffee dispenser for a classic espresso.
- Remove the drip tray to use cups of different sizes for a long coffee.
- If power supply is interrupted during the coffee supply cycle, restore power supply and restart the coffee supply procedure.
- If during the supply cycle, water lacks in the tank, water lack will be indicated by white steady LED on the selected button, while the LED on the other button will start flash-ing,
- then proceed as follows
- Fill the water tank up to the MAX level indicated.
- Press the power-on/supply button previously selected. The button will start flashing and the coffee supply pro-cedure will restart.
- After 5 supplies the switch-on/supply buttons start blinking fast with white light to indicate that the capsules drawer is filled. Empty the capsules drawer and press one of the buttons to reset the machine. Now the machine is ready for a new supply.
- Lift the pod loading lever until it locks into position to open the pod fitting compartment.
- Put a Lavazza A MODO MIO capsule into the capsule fitting compartment.
- Lower the pod loading lever to close the pod fitting compartment.
- Press the short espresso (30 cc) or long espresso button (60 cc) to start delivery. The machine will stop delivery au-tomatically when the programmed measure is reached.
- The switch-on/supply button will light up to a blinking white light when the product is being supplied. To supply the prod-uct again, wait for the switch-on/supply button to light up to a steady white light.
PROGRAMMING THE MACCHINE
COFFEE DOSE PROGRAMMING
Measures are always programmed using the same button; any other buttons are
ignored. The programmed amount of brewed coffee can be changed by repeating
the pro-gramming.
- Lift the pod loading lever until it locks into position to open the pod fitting compartment.
- Put a Lavazza A MODO MIO capsule into the capsule fitting compartment.
- Lower the pod loading lever to close the pod fitting compartment.
- Press and hold one of the two coffee delivery buttons for at least 3 seconds. The selected key will flash and the coffee machine will enter the programming mode.
- Once the desired amount of coffee has been obtained, stop supply by releasing the button.
- If the programmed measure exceeds the maximum al-lowed (250 cc) the machine will automatically stop deliv-ery, the delivery button will blink and the last pro-grammed measure will be saved in the memory. If there is a power failure during programming, the last pro-grammed value remains in the memory. If during a dose programming, water lack is indicated, the machine stops the supply and the dose being programmed won’t be saved. Once filled the water tank, repeat the dose pro-gramming procedure.
PREPARATION OF MILK-BASED RECIPES
HEAT AND FROTH MILK
- Remove the milk frother cover and insert the whisk in-side the milk frother.
- Pour milk into the milk frother in an amount between the MIN level mark and the FOAM level mark.
- To get the best results, use cold milk from the fridge.
- Do not fill the milk frother beyond the FOAM level (120 ml), otherwise milk may come out.
- For optimal warm milk foam, we recommend using un-skimmed milk (pasteurized or UHT), refrigerated (4-8°C). Do not use milk at room temperature.
- Put the cover on the milk frother and position the milk frother on the base.
- Make sure the lower side of the milk frother and the base are dry.
- Press the multifunction button once briefly.
- The lid must always be inserted during operation.
- Do not remove the milk frother from the base be-fore completing the cycle.
- After about 1-2 seconds, the appliance sounds a brief acoustic signal.
- The multifunction button comes on with white light flashing.
- The appliance starts the preparation.
- The whisk process stops automatically when milk is warm enough.
- The appliance emits a double beep to indicate the end of the frothing cycle.
- The multifunction button turns off.
- Remove the milk frother from the base.
- Open the lid and pour the frothed milk into the cup.
- Make sure the whisk is in the milk frother while milk is poured into the cup.
- Ensure the appliance is disconnected from the power outlet and that it has cooled down before cleaning. For more detailed information, refer to “MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING”.

- The cover must always be inserted during operation.
- Press the multifunction button twice quickly. The second click must be within one second from the first one.
- Do not remove the milk frother from the base be-fore completing the cycle.

The appliance emits a double beep.

FROTHING COLD MILK -
It is possible to froth milk without having to heat it up. Pro-ceed as shown in points ® ® to ® ® in section “HEAT AND FROTH MILK”.

For optimal cold milk foam, we recommend using skimmed milk (pasteurized or UHT), refrigerated (4-8°C). Do not use milk at room temperature.

Press and hold the multifunction button for at least 3 seconds.

The appliance emits a long sound.

The multifunction button turns on with a quick white flashing light.

The appliance starts the preparation.

After a minute the frothing process ends automatically.

The appliance emits a double beep to indicate the end of the frothing cycle.

Open the lid and pour the frothed milk into the cup.
- Make sure the whisk is in the milk frother while milk is poured into the cup.
TEMPORARY OR FINAL INTERRUPTION OF THE CYCLE
- To stop preparation, press the multifunction button again.
- To resume preparation, press the multifunction button again.
- If the milk is sufficiently hot at the moment of the inter-ruption of the process, the appliance will not be able to be restarted.
- The multifunction button will come on with red light flashing.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
CLEANING THE MACHINE
Never use solvents, alcohol or other aggressive sub-stances or ovens for
drying the coffee machine compo-nents. Wash machine components (electric
components excluded) with cold/lukewarm water and non-abrasive
clothes/sponges. All removable components can be cleaned by using a
dishwasher. Do not leave water in the tank and water circuit for more than 3
days. If this is the case, drain the tank and circuit, rinse it and refill it
with fresh water, then carry out a delivery without capsule before making any
coffee or other beverage.
COFFEE DISPENSER CLEANING
To clean the dispenser, perform a weekly COFFEE BREWING procedure without
inserting the capsule.
CLEANING THE POD COLLECTING DRAW-ER AND THE DROP COLLECTING
- Take off the drip tray and remove the drip tray grill.
- The used pod collecting drawer and the drop collecting drawer should be emptied and cleaned after making cof-fee 4/5 times or every two/three days.
- Remove and empty the used pod collecting drawer. Clean and dry all parts before putting them back.
- Regularly verify that the used pod collecting drawer and the drop collecting drawer will not be full, to avoid ma-chine malfunctions and damage.
DESCALING
- Carefully read the descaling instructions.
- Limescale normally builds up with extended use of the appliance; the machine needs descaling every 2-3 months and/or whenever a reduction in water flow is noticed.
- To decalcify the machine, It Is recommended that the LAVAZZA DESCALING agent should be used.
- Never use vinegar as a descaling solution.
- The cycle will have, once it has been started, to be performed completely.
- Do not switch the machine off when the descaling cycle is under way.
- Do not move away from the machine when the des-caling cycle Is under way.
- Do not drink the descaling solution and products dispensed.
- Check there is no capsule inside the capsule contai-ning compartment.
- Remove and empty the water tank
- Fill the tank with the Lavazza DESCALING agent 8,4 fl oz (250 ml) and water 8.4 fl oz (250 ml).
- Use a moist cloth to wipe off the squirts or drops, if any.
- Fit the tank back into place on the machine.
- Power the machine ON and place a suitable container under the spout.
- Press one of the supply buttons then supply one cup (approximately 2 fl oz/60 ml) of descaling solution. Allow the descaling solution to work for about 15-20 seconds.
- During breaks, empty the container used to collect the solution.
- Repeat the steps described in points and until the water tank is completely empty.
- Proceed with the rinsing cycle.
Rinsing cycle
- Remove the water tank, rinse and wash it accurately. Fill it with drinking fresh non-carbonated water up to the MAX level. Fit the tank with the fresh water back into the machine.
- Place a suitable container under the spout.
- Press one of the supply buttons then supply the full content of the tank.
- Empty the container and place it again under the dis-penser.
- Upon completion of the rinsing cycle, perform one more rinsing cycle.
- Remove the water tank, rinse and wash it accurately. Fill it with drinking fresh non-carbonated water up to the MAX level.
- Put the tank back in place on the machine.
- Clean the machine by means of a moist, soft cloth.
After cleaning the machine, the descaling process will be over. The machine will be ready for use.
CLEANING THE MILK FROTHER
Disconnect the power plug from the outlet be-fore cleaning the milk frother
and its accessories. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean or
immerse in water the power cord or the base of the appliance.
- The milk frother, the whisk and the cover must be washed after each cycle of use.
- For washing the various components follow the instructions given in the table below.
- Do not wash the milk frother and the base in the dishwasher.
- Do not use abrasive detergent solutions or solvents. Make sure the milk frothier base is always dry.
- We recommend that you should take the label off the cover, before you wash it in a dishwasher.
