Installation procedures
- Wash hands before proceeding to ensure that contamination of filter system components does not take place during assembly.
- Remove parts from their protective packaging, checking items against the contents list.
- Prime filter purification elements. (See backside of system instruction sheet).
- Place the large sealing washer over the threaded mount of the filter purification element.
- Place the threaded mount stem into the hole in the interior base of the upper chamber.
- Secure the element in the base of the chamber by screwing the wing nut onto the threaded mount. Repeat #3- #6 until all elements have been installed.
Cleaning instructions
- Press the rubber priming button (tan or black colored) onto the stem of the filter purification element with the small end facing the element.
- Place the stem of the filter element between your fingers and press the large end of the priming button against the faucet.
- While holding the priming button against the faucet, turn on the cold water gently, allowing water to fill the cavity of the filter element.
- Allow the exterior wall of the Black Berkey purification element to sweat beads of water for about 5 seconds.
- Rinse process dust from the exterior of the purification element. The element has now been successfully primed. Repeat steps 1-5 for each additional element.
