Why is my SD card not showing its full capacity?
-
Actual usable memory capacity may vary.1GB equals to 1 billion bytes. Please note that the standard capacity ≠ actual usable capacity. Since the capacity of flash memory products is mostly calculated according to 1MB=1000KB, 1GB=1000MB, the operating system uses the binary algorithm, 1MB=1024KB, 1GB=1024MB. Therefore, there is a certain difference between the actual usable capacity and the standard capacity of flash memory products. The actual capacity is about 90% of the standard capacity, which falls within the normal range of capacity. For instance, the standard capacity is 32GB, the actual capacity should be about 28.8GB. The standard capacity is 64GB, the actual capacity should be about 57.7GB.
-
Some of the capacity is used for formatting and store specific functions, including flash memory optimizations that maximize product performance and life, so users cannot use this capacity to store files.
-
Ensure the capacity of the card is supported by your device. Please refer to the user manual of the device to check what capacities of the memory card are supported.
-
Check the cards file system that the device is compatible with. Please refer to the user manual of the device to check what memory card systems are supported.
NOTE : Steam Deck microSDXC™ cards use ext4 file system. Formatting is required for the first use, otherwise only 2.9GB will be available. -
Check the card through the computer: you can check the Disk Management on the computer. If it shows no space available to be allocated, please delete the allocated space and format the card with SD Formatter tool. If the formatting is not successful, suggest contacting Lexar Technical Support for RMA process
Slow speed when downloading on Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck
Slow download speeds are generally the result of:
- Slow Internet from the ISP
- Slow or unresponsive networking equipment
- Wireless interference or a weak wireless signal
- Multiple devices on the same network using an excessive amount of bandwidth
NOTE : Perform a connection test on your device’s system to determine if your network connection needs to be improved.
How do I recover missing or deleted files on the microSDXC™ card?
Lexar recommends using the Lexar Recovery Tool. Please download the Tool at https://www.lexar.com/support/downloads/. Please refer to the Lexar Recovery Tool section under FAQ page for details. Disclaimer: Lexar does not guarantee to recover any of your missing or deleted files. Tips for using on the device
- When using the microSDXC™ card on a different device, please format the card on the device or through the card reader. Before formatting, please back up the data in the card.
- When writing to the microSDXC™ card, please wait for the saving to complete, then proceed to the next step to avoid incomplete writing of data;
- Do not pull out and insert the microSDXC™ card while the power is on to avoid damage to the card or the loss of data.
- If your device gets too warm, please pause the working process until your device cools down. This will keep your device within an acceptable operating temperature
- For environmental temperature, please refer to the high-temperature standard of the local meteorological station;
- For the product temperature, If the device takes a long time to download or load data, it is advised to wait before touching the card until the device cools down.
Always use a card reader
When editing the data on the microSDXC™ card with a computer, use a card reader instead of connecting your device to your computer. It speeds up replication and makes corruption less likely
