Set up and switch on your phone
Mini SIM
Important: This device is designed to be used with a mini SIM card (see figure) only. Use of incompatible SIM cards may damage the card or the device, and may corrupt data stored on the card.
Note: Switch the device off and disconnect the charger and any other device before removing any covers. Avoid touching electronic components while changing any covers. Always store and use the device with any covers attached.
Insert the SIM card
- Place your fingernail in the small slot at the bottom of the phone, then lift and remove the cover.
- If the battery is in the phone, lift it out.
- Slide the SIM card into the SIM slot with the contact area face down.
Insert the second SIM
- If you have a dual-SIM phone, slide the second SIM in the SIM2 slot. Both SIM cards are available at the same time when the device is not being used, but while one SIM card is active, for example, when making a call, the other may be unavailable.
- Line up the battery contacts and put the battery in.
- Put back the back cover.
Tip: To find out if your phone can use 2 SIM cards, see the label on the sales box. If there are 2 IMEI codes on the label, you have a dual-SIM phone.
Switch on your phone
Press and hold .
Charge your phone
Your battery has been partially charged at the factory, but you may need to recharge it before you can use your phone.
Charge the battery
- Plug the charger into a wall outlet.
- Connect the charger to the phone. When done, unplug the charger from the phone and then from the wall outlet.
If the battery is completely discharged, it may take several minutes before the charging indicator is displayed.
Tip: You can use USB charging when a wall outlet is not available. The efficiency of USB charging power varies significantly and it may take a long time for charging to start and the device to start functioning.
Keypad
Use the phone keys
- To see your phone’s apps and features, select Menu on the home screen.
- To go to an app or feature, press the scroll key up, down, left, or right. To open an app or feature, press the scroll key.
Lock the keypad
To avoid accidentally pressing the keys, lock the keypad: select Go to > Lock keypad. To unlock the keypad, press , and select Unlock.
Switch on the torch
- On the home screen, quickly scroll up twice to switch on the torch.
- To switch off the torch, scroll up once.
- Do not shine the light in anyone’s eyes.
Write with the keypad
- Press a key repeatedly until the letter is shown.
- To type in a space press 0.
- To type in a special character or punctuation mark, select Opt. > Insert options > Insert symbol.
- To switch between character cases, press # repeatedly.
- To type in a number, press and hold a number key.
Calls
Make a call
Learn how to make a call with your new phone.
- Type in the phone number. To type in the + character, used for international calls, and press * twice.
- Press . If asked, select which SIM to use.
- To end the call, press .
Answer a call
- Press.
Contacts
Add a contact
Save and organize your friends‘ phone numbers.
- Select Menu > > Add contact.
- Select where you want to save it, on Phone or SIM card
- Write the name and type in the number.
- Select OK.
Save a contact from call log
- Select Menu > > Missed calls, Received calls, or Dialed numbers depending on from where you want to save the contact.
- Highlight the number you want to save, select Opt. > Save, and select where you want to save the contact.
- Add the contact‘s name, check that the phone number is correct, and select OK.
Call a contact
You can call a contact directly from the contacts list.
- Select Menu > > Names and scroll to a contact you want to call.
- Select the contact and press the call key.
Send messages
Write and send messages
- Select Menu > > Create message.
- Write a message on the message field.
- Select Opt. > Send, to add a recipient. You can enter a phone number or add a recipient by selecting Search to open Contacts.
- Select OK.
Writing options
You can find different options for writing a message under Opt. when you are in the message field. You can, for example, insert symbols and save messages.
To switch on predictive text, select Opt. > Dictionary.
Change your ring or message tone
You can choose a new ringtone or message tone.
Change your ringtone
- Select Menu > > Tone settings.
- Choose Ringtone.
- Scroll to a ringtone.
- Press OK.
Tip: Is your ringtone too loud or too silent? Select Ringing volume and scroll left or right.
Change your message tones
- Select Menu > > Tone settings.
- Scroll to a Message alert tone.
- Select the tone you want to use and select OK.
Change the look of your home screen
Change the look of your home screen with display settings.
Choose a new wallpaper
You can change the background of your home screen with the Wallpaper setting.
- Select Menu > > Display settings > Wallpaper.
- Select the wallpaper and then the option to position the wallpaper on the screen.
Show date and time
You can choose if you want to see the date and time on the home screen of your phone.
- Select Menu > > Time settings > Display of time and date.
- Select Show clock to have them visible on the home screen.
If you want your phone to have time updated automatically, set Auto-update of date and time to On.
Profiles
Your phone has different profiles for different situations. You can edit the profiles to your liking.
Personalize profiles
There are several profiles that you can use in different situations. There is, for example, a silent profile for when you cannot have sounds on and an outdoor profile with loud tones.
You can personalize profiles further.
- Select Menu > > Profiles.
- Select a profile and Personalize.
For each profile you can set a specific ringtone, ringtone volume, message sounds, and so on.
Tip: You can add different profiles to Go to menu for quick access.
Settings for Go to
You can add quick links to different applications and settings to Go to.
Edit Go to settings
On the bottom left of the home screen, you have Go to, and when you select it, you can quickly access different applications and settings. You can change the applications and settings to your liking.
- Select Menu > > Go to settings.
- Select Select options.
- Scroll to a shortcut you want to add on the Go to list on the home screen and Mark them.
- Select Done to exit the list and Yes to save changes.
You can also reorganized your Go to list.
- Select Organize.
- Scroll to an item you want to move and select Move.
- Select if you want to move it up, down, to top, or to bottom of the list.
- Select Back to exit the list and OK to save changes.
Personalize your SIM cards
Edit the SIM card settings
- Select Menu > > Dual SIM settings.
- Select SIM name and enter a name for your SIM card.
- Select an icon for the SIM card.
Find and save radio stations
Connect a compatible headset. It acts as an antenna.
Find your favourite radio stations
- Select Menu > .
- When the phone asks if you want to search all available channels, select OK.
- To switch between stations, scroll up or down.
- To save a found channel, select Opt. > Save channel.
Listen to radio
Listen to your favourite radio stations
Select Menu >. To change the volume, scroll left or right. To listen to the radio using the loudspeaker, select Opt. > Loudspeaker. Keep the headset connected. To close the radio, select Switch off.
