Unpacking

Check the battery upon arrival to ensure there is no damage during transit. If you notice any dents or signs of damage, do not use the battery. Instead, report it to the carrier and contact customer service immediately.

Connecting Procedure

  1. Mount the battery securely on a rack or a safe location for installation.
  2. Ensure that the main DC power switch on the battery is in the OFF position.
  3. Connect the Positive Cable Connectors of the Inverter/Charger to the Positive terminal of the battery. Make sure the connection is tight and secure.
  4. Connect the Negative Cable Connectors of the Inverter/Charger to the Negative terminal of the battery. Ensure the connection is tight and secure.
  5. Verify all connections are correct and secure before switching on the main power switch.
  6. Note: For parallel connections, each battery terminal should have a properly sized dedicated cable. Never use a single cable to share multiple battery currents as it may cause overheating and fire.

Power ON / OFF, Reset

  • The battery enters power-saving mode when it has no load for a period of time.
  • To power the battery, press the reset button using a plastic needle. The State of Charge (SOC) LEDs will light up and the LCD screen will display the main screen. The RUN LED will flash.
  • To manually switch off the battery (put it into sleep mode), Press and hold the RST button.

Communication with Inverters

  1. Inverters & Protocol Supported: Ensure that the inverter supports one of the following protocols: CAN (Pylon, Growwatt, Victron, Goodwe, GinLong, Pengcheng, Sofar, etc.) or 485 (Pylon, Sol-Ark/SRNE, Growwatt, Deye, Voltronic, Paceic).
  2. Hardware-Ports/Wiring: The BMS Port is used for communication and can support both CAN and 485 protocols. Refer to the inverter’s user manual to locate the battery communication port on the inverter. Note that the right two RS485 ports are for inter-battery connections in multi-battery applications. Always use the RS485/CAN port for inverter or PC communications.
  3. Connect Procedures: If the inverter supports Pylon (CAN or 485), no additional steps are needed on the battery BMS.

If different protocols need to be used:

  1. Refer to the PC-Battery Communications Instructions and update the default protocol in the battery BMS to the one supported by the inverter.
  2. Single Battery:
    • Connect the INVERTER side RJ45 to the BMS port on the inverter.
    • Connect the BATTERY side RJ45 to the RS-485/CAN port.
    • Set DIP switches: ALL OFF (See Multiple Batteries Setup for Multiple Battery Applications).
    • Connect the battery and power on the inverter. Access the menu that enables BMS communication (specific to the inverter), and the inverter might beep for warning.
    • Choose Pylon (or other supported protocols) and confirm.
    • The inverter and battery should be connected, and the warning beep will stop.
  3. Multiple Batteries (SOC is the average of all batteries):
    • Set one of the batteries as the Master battery.
    • Connect the Master battery to the inverter using the RJ45 cable made in section 2.
    • Set DIP switches: DIP 1-4 of (Set as MASTER, address 0); DIP 5-8 as the total quantity of slaves connected to the Master. Refer to the provided table for specific configurations.

FAQ

Q: Can I use the battery if I notice any damage during transit?

  • A : No, if you notice any dent or signs of damage on the battery during transit, do not use it. Report the damage to the carrier and contact customer service immediately.

Q: What should I do if the battery does not power on?

  • A : If the battery does not power on, press and hold the reset button using a plastic needle. If the issue persists, contact customer service for further assistance.

Q: How do I connect multiple batteries to an inverter?

  • A : To connect multiple batteries, set one battery as the Master battery and connect it to the inverter using the provided RJ45 cable. Set the appropriate DIP switch configurations as instructed in the user manual.
  • To be operated by trained technicians only

Unpacking

  • Check the battery to make sure there is no damage during the transit, if any dent or other signs of damage are found, DO NOT use the battery. Report to the carrier and contact customer service immediately.

Connecting Procedure

  • Mount the battery securely on a rack or a place that is safe for battery installation.
  • Make sure the main DC power switch on the battery is in the OFF position.
  • Connect the Positive Cable Connectors of Inverter/Charger to the Positive terminal of the battery, and make sure it is tight and snug.
  • Connect the Negative Cable Connectors of the Inverter/Charger to the Negative terminal of the battery, and make sure it is tight and snug.
  • Verify all the connections are correct and secure before switching on the main power switch.
  • NOTE: Parallel connection, each battery terminal should have a proper-sized dedicated cable to the proper-sized bus terminal plate/bar where all battery cables, charger, and discharger cables are connected. NEVER use a single cable to share multiple battery currents in any circumstances. It will overheat the cable and may cause fire.

Power ON / OFF, Reset

  • The battery goes into power-saving mode when it has no load for a period.
  • Press the reset button using a plastic needle to power the battery. SOC LEDs will lid and the LCD screen will show the main screen. The RUN LED is flashing.
  • To switch off the battery (Manually put it into sleep mode), press and hold the RST button until the SOC LEDs flash 3 times, then release the button. All the lights will go off, as well as the LCD screen.
  • To reset the system, press and hold the RST button for about 10 seconds and release, the system is restarted.
  • Use the keys to navigate and monitor the BMS information such as cell voltages and temperatures.
  • NOTE: Loads below 50 watts might not be detected by the BMS, and it might trigger the sleep mode.
  • When Switching on the battery breaker after connecting to the inverter, overcurrent protection (OCP) might occur due to the large capacitor inside the inverter.
  • The red light will lid and the battery will come back to normal within 1-2 minutes. If it cannot be recovered, reset the battery.

Communication with Inverters

  1. Inverters & Protocol supported (Up to 16 Batteries to 1 inverter allowed)
    • Make sure the inverter supports one of the following protocols:

  2. Hardware-Ports/Wiring-Port: BMS Port (CAN & 485 share the same port) as shown below. Refer to the inverter’s user manual and locate the battery communication port on the inverter.
    • Note: The right two RS485 ports are for inter-battery connections in multi-battery applications. Always use the RS485/CAN port for inverter or PC communications
    • DO NOT USE an internet cable for the communication between the inverter and the battery!
    • Make a cable according to your applications as follows:
    • For RS485 Protocol, use the following PINs:
    • PIN#1—————–485B
    • PIN#2—————–485A
    • For CAN Protocol, use the following PINs:
    • PIN#4—————–CAN_H
    • PIN#5—————–CAN_L
    • Check the Inverter’s manual find out the PIN out of RS485 or CAN, and crimp the connectors. Mark one side “INVERTER” and the other side “BATTERY”
    • ONLY 2 wires should be crimped into the RJ45 connectors.
    • Use a multimeter to check and confirm the conductivity of the cable.
  3. Connect Procedures
    • If the inverter supports Pylon (CAN or 485), nothing needs to be done on the battery BMS.
    • If different protocols need to be used, See the PC-Battery Communications
    • Instructions and update the default protocol in the battery BMS to the one supported by the inverter.
    • Single Battery
    • Connect the “INTERTER” side RJ45 to the port of BMS on the inverter
    • Connect the “BATTERY” side RJ45 to the port of RS-485/CAN
