SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Never use the product if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
Keep children under supervision to make sure they do not play with, or climb on the product.
When transporting stepladders on support rails or in a truck, make sure to position them so they cannot be damaged.
Secure the product in a suitable way when transporting it in, or on a vehicle.
Inspect the stepladder after delivery and before using for the first time to check its condition and the functionality of all the parts.
Visually inspect the stepladder for damage and check that it is safe to use each day before using it.
Check the stepladder at regular intervals when used professionally. Make sure that the stepladder is suitable for the job.
Do not use a damaged stepladder.
Remove any dirt, wet paint, clay, oil or snow, from the stepladder.
Before using a stepladder a risk assessment must be made in accordance with the applicable regulations in the country of use.
Repairs and maintenance work must be carried out at an accredited service center in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Only spare parts from the manufacturer must be used.
Do not use stepladders that conduct electricity to do jobs where it is not possible to switch off the power.
Do not spend long periods on a ladder without regular breaks(tiredness is a risk)
Do not use the ladder outside in adverse weather conditions, such as strong wind.
When positioning the ladder take into account risk of collision with the ladder e.g. from pedestrians, vehicles or doors. Secure doors (not fire exits) and windows where possible in the work area.
Warning electricity hazard.
Use non-conductive ladders for
unavoidable live electrical work.
Do not modify the ladder design.
Do not move a ladder while standing on it.

The ladder must extend at least 1 meter over the stepping off point.
Check that the stepladder is fully extended before use.
Turn the stepladder the right way round. Note the marking.
The steps must be horizontal.
If the stepladder is supplied with a foot, fit before use.
Keep a firm grip on the stepladder when climbing up.
Do not use the stepladder as a footbridge.
Do not step off sideways.
Always face the stepladder when using it.
Do not stand on the top two steps of a stepladder without a platform and handrail.
Do not stand on the top three steps of a lean-to ladder.
Do not go on the 4 top steps on a standing ladder with an extension ladder above.
Make sure that the steps are at the right angle.
Do not carry heavy items up the stepladder.
Wear suitable footwear.
Do not overreach.
Pay attention to overhead power lines when moving the stepladder risk of electric shock. Check that the surface under the stepladder is free from contamination. Place the stepladder on a stable surface.
Do not lean against a pole.
Do not use the product as a normal ladder if it is not intended to be used for this. Secure any locking devices before use, if they do not engage automatically.
Only use the stepladder with the safety devices correctly applied.
The product is intended for professional use.
Do not stand on or above this rung or you will lose balance.

Max. standing height: approx. 942 mm Do not stand on the two top rungs of a standing ladder. Max. standing height: approx. 1727 mm Do not stand on the three top rungs of a leaning ladder.

USE

The stepladder must be put up in the correct position, for example at the correct angle if using as a lean-to ladder (tilt angle 1:4) with the steps horizontal.
The locking devices, if there are any, must be secured before use.
The stepladder must be placed on a smooth, level and stable surface.
As a lean-to ladder it must lean against a smooth, stable surface and be fastened before use, for example tied or fastened with a stable device.
Do not move the stepladder while someone is on it.
When positioning the stepladder take into consideration the risk of collision, e.g. with pedestrians, vehicles or doors. Lock doors (not emergency exits) and windows in the work area, where possible.
Identify potential risks in the work area, such as high-tension cables or exposure to electrical components.
The stepladder must stand on its feet and not rest on a step.
Do not put the stepladder on slippery surfaces (for example, ice, shiny surfaces or heavily soiled surfaces) unless additional measures are taken to prevent it from slipping.
Do not exceed the maximum permitted load.
Do not overreach. The user must keep the belt buckle (navel) inside the side rails and both feet on the same step when working.
Do not use the stepladder as a normal ladder, if it is not intended to used for this.
Pay attention to the wind when using it outdoors.
Make sure the stepladder is anchored or suitably supported before stepping off it above ground level.
Do not use a freestanding stepladder to climb to another level.
Do not step on the 3 top steps/rungs on a normal ladder.
Do not step on the 2 top steps/rungs on a ladder without a platform and rail.
Do not step on the 4 top steps on a stepladder with an extension ladder.
The stepladder should only be used for simple, temporary jobs.
Do not use the product outdoors in strong wind, heavy rain or other unfavorable weather conditions.
Keep children under supervision to make sure they do not play with, or climb on the product.
Always face the ladder when ascending/ descending.
Keep a firm grip on the steps when climbing up or down the stepladder.
Do not use the stepladder as a footbridge.
Wear suitable footwear when climbing on a stepladder.
Avoid work that involves pressure to the side on freestanding ladders, for example drilling sideways in solid material (brick or concrete). Do not spend long periods on the stepladder without regular breaks (tiredness is a risk factor).
If the stepladder is used as a lean-to ladder to reach up to a higher level it must reach up to a least one meter over the contact point.
Equipment carried up on a stepladder should be lightweight and easy to handle. Do not carry or use bulky and/or heavy objects on the stepladder.
Always keep a firm grip with at least one hand when working on the stepladder, or if this is not possible take additional safety precautions.
Only use the stepladder in the specified direction, if the design of the product requires this.
Fit the tubes in the correct position when using as a normal ladder.
Do not step off sideways from the stepladder.
Never use the platform without the two diagonal tubes and the two stabilizers. If it is not possible to fit the components correctly, dismantle the platform and follow the assembly instructions from the beginning. Contact the retailer if it is still not possible to complete the assembly. Do not use the product if it is not correctly and completely assembled.
Do not stand on the edge of the platform.
Do not assemble the platform higher than 1 meter.

MAINTENANCE

Check the parts on the stepladder and the hinges at regular intervals. Use low viscosity oil when it is cold. Lubricate the hinges at regular intervals, but be careful not to drip oil on the steps or side rails
Stepladders must be stored where they are not exposed to rain or snow, or direct sunlight.
Store the product in a clean and dry place.
Hold the product firmly when carrying it.
Do not store anything on the stepladder.
Keep the product clean and free from foreign objects and materials.
Clean the product after it has been used.

REPAIR, MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

Repairs and maintenance shall be carried out by a competent person and be in accordance with the producer’s instructions. A competent person is someone who has the skills to carry out repairs or maintenance, e.g. by a training by the manufacturer.
For repair and replacement of parts, e.g. feet, if necessary contact the producer or distributor.
Ladders should be stored in accordance with the producer’s instructions.
Ladders made of or using thermoplastic, thermosetting plastic and reinforced plastic materials should be stored out of direct sunlight.
The important considerations when storing a ladder (not in use) should include the following:
- Is the ladder stored away from areas where its condition could deteriorate more rapidly (e.g. dampness, excessive heat, or exposed to the elements)
- Is the ladder stored in a position which helps it to remain straight (e.g. hung by the stiles on proper ladder brackets or laid on a flat clutter free surface)?
- Is the ladder stored where it cannot be damaged by vehicles, heavy objects, or contaminants?
- Is the ladder stored where it cannot cause a trip hazard or an obstruction?
- Is the ladder stored securely where it cannot be easily used for criminal purposes?
- If the ladder is permanently positioned (e.g. on scaffolding), is it secured against unauthorized climbing (e.g. by children)?

INSPECTION
For regular inspection, the following items shall be taken into account:

Check that the stiles/legs (uprights) are not bent, bowed, twisted, dented, cracked, corroded or rotten;
Check that the stiles/legs around the fixing points for other components are in good condition;
Check that fixings (usually rivets, screws or bolts) are not missing, loose, or corroded;
Check that rungs/steps are not missing, loose, excessively worn, corroded or damaged;
Check that the hinges between front and rear sections are not damaged, loose or corroded;
Check that the locking stays horizontal, back rails and corner braces are not missing, bent, loose, corroded or damaged;
Check that the entire ladder is free from contaminants (e.g. dirt, mud, paint, oil or grease);
Check that locking catches (if fitted) are not damaged or corroded and function correctly;
Check that the platform (if fitted) has no missing parts or fixings and is not damaged or corroded.
