INSTRUCTION FOR USE
OPERATION
Outwell Akira power stations are equipped with a comprehensive set of safety
features. These include short circuits, overcharge, over-discharge,
overcurrent, extremely low power, over temperature, reverse connection, anti-
charge, and overvoltage protections.
Charging:
- Ensure the power station is fully charged before first use.
- Connect the DC input (7) to a power source. The power station is fully charged when the battery capacity display (14) reads 100%.
- The power station can also be charged via the USB-C/PD port (12). Connect a suitable charger, e.q. a laptop computer charger, with USB-C/PD output to the power station’s USB-C/PD port.
- The last digit on the battery capacity display will flash to indicate the power station is charging.
- App. charging times from 0 – 100%:
- AC adaptor (2): 4-6 hours
- Car charger 12V DC (5): 2-3 hours
- USB-C/PD: 5-7 hours
- Solar (120W panel – optional): 3-8 hours depending on weather
The power station has an integral MPPT charge controller for solar charging from optional solar panels with an open circuit voltage up to 30V DC. Example: depending on weather, charge time from 0-100% will be app. 3-8 hours when using a 120W panel. The power display (16) will show the charging power in watts, and the hours remaining display (15) will show the hours remaining until fully charged.
Use
- To power a device from the power station, use a suitable cord to connect the device and select the desired output circuit on the power station using the buttons (20) – (23). The corresponding icon (14) – (19) on the display will indicate that the selected circuit is active.
- Multiple circuits and ports can be used to power multiple devices simultaneously.
- The power display (16) will show the combined power usage of the connected devices in watts, and the hours remaining display (15) will show how many hours of power are left with the current load.
- The AC output (8) can be used for devices up to 300W continuous load and it can deliver up to 450W for up to 10 seconds. The AC output is pure sine wave and is suitable for all types of electronics.
- The USB-C/PD port can be used for both input and output. The power station will automatically communicate with the connected device and determine the required voltage and power.
- The power station supports through charging. Thisthe use of power station outputs while the unit is being charged.
- When the input power (charge) is greater than the output power (connected devices) the power display (16) will show the net input power.
- For example: if the power station is charged with 80 watts, and the connected devices draw 30 watts, the power display will show 50 watts. The remaining hour’s display (15) will show how many hours remain until fully charged.
- When the input power (charge) is less than the output power (connected devices) the power display (16) will show the net power output (consumption),
- For example: if the power station is charged with 80 watts, and the connected devices draw 120 watts, the power display will show 40 watts. The remaining hour’s display (15) will show how many hours of power are left with the current load.
- If in doubt about whether the input power or the output power is greatest, disconnect the charge input briefly and check the power reading (output power) on the display (16). Compare this to the input power, check the display (16) with all outputs turned off briefly (use the buttons (20) – (23).
- When a circuit is no longer in use, press the button (20) – (23) to switch it off to save power.
Cleaning & maintenance
- Visually check the general condition of the power station and its accessories regularly The power station can be cleaned with a damp cloth if necessary.
WARNING: Do not use sharp or hard objects or cleaning agents for cleaning as these may damage the product.
Storage:
If the power station is not used for a long time, it should be recharged every
12 months and the battery capacity kept between 60-80%. Store the power
station in a cool and dry place.
Faults:
The power station has the following protective functions:
- Short circuit protection
- Over charge protection
- Over-discharge protection
- Over current protection
- Extreme low power protection
- Over temperature protection
- Reverse connection protection
- Anti-charge protection
- Over-voltage protection
Overload warning: If any output circuit is being overloaded, e.g. a device drawing more power than the circuit’s rating, the safety shutdown of that circuit will engage. Warning will be in the form of an alarm beep combined with the displayed overload icon.
The affected circuit will be shut off. To rectify this, unplug the device in question and turn the circuit on again (20) – (23) to use the power station.
Temperature warning: If the temperature of the inverter or battery cells exceeds its range, the temperature warning icon will be displayed along with an alarm beep, and the power station will shut off. Let the power station cool down before continued use.
Integral fans prevent the power station from overheating under heavy loads and the fan icon will be displayed when these fans are in action.
If you are unable to rectify any fault following the above instructions, contact the dealer or Outwell Customer Service.
Disposal:
- Dispose of the power station as battery waste according to local regulations.
- Do not dispose of any batteries with general household waste.
Light Source: LED
The light source and control gear are not replaceable. Access to the light
source and control gear brings contact with high voltages and a high risk of
electric shock. Making the light source and control gear replaceable would
also introduce weak points in the construction that could reduce the lifetime
of the product.
