BARSKA BC447 Spotting Scope
Product Information
The product is a spotting scope with a tripod. It is designed for viewing distant objects and is equipped with an eyepiece, zoom ring, focus knob, and objective lens. The spotting scope is mounted securely onto the tripod using a quick release plate and mounting screw. The tripod has adjustable legs, a center column height lever, pan and tilt control handle, and a leveling bubble for optimal viewing.
Product Usage Instructions
- Caution: Do not look directly at the sun or any light source with this optical device as it can cause permanent eye damage.
- Tripod Set Up:
- Spread the tripod legs and set it on a firm support.
- Adjust the height and angle of the legs by releasing the upper and/or lower leg locks. Extend the legs to the desired height and lock them.
- Mounting:
- Use the quick release plate to release the mounting plate.
- Position the mounting plate onto the mounting platform of the spotting scope and tighten the mounting screw located under the mounting plate to firmly lock the spotting scope body onto the mounting plate.
- Slide the mounting plate with the spotting scope back into position on the tripod.
- Ensure that all locks/knobs are locked/tight and that the tripod is on a stable surface.
- Viewing:
- With the spotting scope securely mounted, point the objective lens at the object. Remove the cover from the objective lens and the lens cap from the eyepiece.
- Rotate the zoom ring of the eyepiece to the lowest magnification.
- Look into the eyepiece and turn the focus knob to focus the object clearly.
- Loosen the pan and tilt control knob, then slowly move the pan and tilt control handle to the desired position. Tighten the pan and tilt control knob to secure your viewing angle.
- Adjust the center column height, then loosen the center column height knob. Spin the height adjustment lever clockwise to raise the tripod and counterclockwise to lower it. Once the desired height is achieved, tighten the center column height knob.
- Note: The tripod leveling bubble is used to level the tripod for optimum viewing and picture taking. The tripod is leveled when the bubble is centered between the black lines.
- Spotting Scope Care:
- Store your spotting scope with the protective lens caps in a cool and moisture-free environment.
- To clean the lenses, use a soft bristle brush to remove any dust or dirt, and then use a soft cloth moistened with alcohol. Wipe the lenses from the center outward and avoid touching them to prevent smearing.
- To clean body parts, use a soft cloth with warm water and mild soap to remove dirt.
- Do not dismantle the spotting scope or the eyepiece. If they require repair or adjustment, please contact BARSKA customer service.
- Tripod Care:
- When not in use, reduce the tripod legs to the minimum height with the upper and lower locks, reduce the center column height, and secure them in place.
- Store your tripod in a cool, dry area.

CAUTION: DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN VIEWING THE SUN OR ANY LIGHT SOURCE WITH THIS OPTICAL DEVICE CAN CAUSE PERMANENT EYE DAMAGE.
Tripod Set Up
- Spread the tripod legs and set the tripod on a firm support.
- Adjust the height and angle of legs by releasing the upper and/or lower leg locks. Extend the legs to desired height and lock upper and/or lower leg locks.
Mounting
- Use the quick release plate to release the mounting plate.
- Position mounting plate onto the mounting platform of the spotting scope then tighten mounting screw located under the mounting plate to firmly lock spotting scope body onto the mounting plate.
- Slide the Mounting Plate with the spotting scope back into position on the tripod.
- Make sure locks/knobs are locked/tight and the tripod is on a stable surface.
Viewing
- With spotting scope mounted securely in place, point the objective lens at the object. Take the cover off objective lens and remove the lens cap off the eyepiece.
- Rotate the zoom ring of the eyepiece to the lowest magnification.
- Look into the eyepiece, then turn the focus knob to focus object clearly.
- Loosen Pan and Tilt Control Knob, then slowly move, pan, and tilt control handle to desired position. Tighten the pan and tilt control knob to secure your viewing angle.
- Slowly move, pan, and tilt control handle to desired position. Tighten the pan knob to secure your viewing angle.
- Adjust center column height, then loosen center column height knob. Gently spin height adjustment lever clockwise to raise tripod, and counter clock wise to lower tripod. Once desired height is achieved, tighten center column height knob.
Note: The tripod leveling bubble is used to level the tripod allowing for optimum viewing and picture taking. The tripod is levelled when the bubble is centered between the black lines.
Spotting Scope Care
- Store your spotting scope with the protective lens caps in a cool and moisture free environment.
- To clean the lenses, use a soft bristle brush to remove any dust or dirt and then use a soft cloth moisture with alcohol. Wipe lenses from center outward and avoid touching the lens, as fingerprints will smear the lens.
