Supco MFD10 Digital Capacitor Tester

Supco-MFD10-Digital-Capacitor-Tester-product

INTRODUCTION

The capacitor tester can reliably test all capacitors from 0.01 MFD to 10,000 MFD.

This includes all types of start-and-run capacitors used in the refrigeration and air conditioning industries. It is designed to meet all industrial specifications and service requirements. This pocket-size, battery-operated capacitor tester is simple to operate. Just attach the leads to the capacitor terminals, press the button and the exact capacitor value is brightly displayed on the LED readout. A handy carrying case is also included.

BATTERY INSTALLATION

Slide the rear cover down and install (4) AA batteries. Observe polarity as indicated on the bottom of the battery compartment.

BATTERY TEST

Set the scale to 10 MFD. Separate clip leads so that no contact is made. Press the activator button. If the batteries are good the display will read 8.888. If other numbers appear this indicates that the batteries are weak and should be replaced.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Disconnect the capacitor from all power sources.
  2. Discharge capacitor. Failure to discharge the capacitor can cause the protective fuse to open.
  3. Attach clip leads to capacitor terminals. It is important to ensure good contact with the capacitor terminals.
  4. Set the scale switch to the expected capacitor value range. From 0.01 MFD to 10 MFD set scale switch to 10 MFD. For values over 10 MFD set the scale switch to 10,000 MFD. Press the activator button. The value will be on the LED display.

Accessories

Part No. Description

MFDFUSE:   Replacement fuse
22792:  Soft carrying case

NOTE: When the unit indicates a shorted capacitor, be sure to test the capacitor at the higher range. Good capacitors above 10 MFD will indicate a shorted capacitor (display will show 0.000) when tested on the low range. On the high range the
correct reading will be displayed

Safety Instructions

  1. Avoid Wet Environments : Do not use the capacitor tester in wet conditions.
  2. Check the Tester : Before each use, inspect the tester for any signs of damage or wear. Do not use if it appears damaged.
  3. Properly Rated Test Leads : Use only the test leads that come with the tester or those specified by the manufacturer.
  4. Stay Away from Live Circuits : Never touch exposed wires or terminals with your hands when the power is on.
  5. Turn Off Power : Before testing capacitors in a circuit, always ensure the power is turned off and the circuit is de-energized.
  6. Discharge Capacitors : Before testing, always discharge capacitors. Capacitors can store energy even if the device they’re in is powered off.
  7. Proper Handling : Do not drop, throw, or otherwise mishandle the tester.
  8. Battery : Replace the battery when indicated or if the device doesn’t function correctly. Dispose of used batteries properly.
  9. Storage : Store the capacitor tester in a dry place away from direct sunlight.
  10. Avoid Extreme Temperatures : Don’t expose the tester to extreme heat or cold. It can affect its accuracy and performance.
  11. Do Not Modify : Never attempt to modify or repair the device unless you are qualified and authorized to do so.
  12. Safety Gear : Wear appropriate safety gear, like safety goggles, when working with electrical circuits.
