Product Usage Instructions
Indications for Use:
The Meridian Medical ARUBA 42 Group 1 Multi-Zone Therapeutic Foam Mattress is intended to be used with an appropriately sized bed frame as a part of an overall pressure injury prevention program. Any other use is prohibited.
- WARNING – DO NOT use sharp tools to open the mattress.
- Remove the mattress from its packaging and unroll the mattress.
- Allow the mattress to decompress fully before use.
- Place the non-slip vinyl side face down on the bed surface. The printed side of the mattress should be face up.
- For best results, rotate the mattress (head area to foot area) every six months. Ensure the printed side is ALWAYS face up.
Cleaning & Maintenance:
The mattress MUST be cleaned regularly and/or between use with different patients.
Warnings:
- This product warranty is solely for the benefit of the original consumer purchaser.
- Do not use the mattress if any damage is found. Always have a dealer inspect the product for any damage before transferring ownership to a different user.
- Failure to heed instructions and warnings increases the risk of injury.
- Limited Warranty:
- This warranty provides for the replacement of defective parts and does not cover shipping or labor charges. It does not apply to serial numbered products if the serial number has been removed or defaced, or to defects or damages caused by unauthorized parts, attachments or repairs, negligence, accident, circumstances beyond Compass Health Brands’ control, or improper operation, maintenance, or storage. - BEFORE TRANSFERRING OWNERSHIP OF THE PRODUCT TO A DIFFERENT USER ALWAYS HAVE A DEALER INSPECT THE PRODUCT FOR ANY DAMAGE. IF ANY DAMAGE IS FOUND, DO NOT USE THE PRODUCT.
- PRODUCT MUST ALWAYS BE ACCOMPANIED WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS. FAILURE TO HEED INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS INCREASES THE RISK OF INJURY.
Indications for Use
- The Meridian Medical ARUBA 42” Group 1 Multi-Zone Therapeutic Foam Mattress is intended to be used with an appropriately sized bed frame as a part of an overall pressure injury prevention program. Any other use is prohibited.
- This pressure redistribution mattress is designed to positively contribute to the outcome of a pressure injury prevention care plan when the product is in normal use as defined by Compass Health Brands: the support surface is covered with a cotton, cotton combination, or linen bed sheet, and any one of these is the only item between the support surface and the user. This product should ALWAYS be used in conjunction with informed nursing judgments when assessing risk from pressure injury development.
Instructions for Use
WARNING – DO NOT use sharp tools to open the mattress.
- Remove the mattress from its packaging and unroll the mattress.
- Allow the mattress to decompress fully before use.
- Place non-slip vinyl side face down on the bed surface. The printed side of the mattress should be face up.
- For best results rotate the mattress (head area to foot area) every six months. Ensure the printed side is ALWAYS face up.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- The mattress MUST be cleaned regularly and/or between use with different patients.
- Remove any bedding from the mattress.
- Wipe down both the top and bottom of the mattress covers using a damp cloth pre-soaked in a standard cleaning solution of warm soapy water containing a mild detergent.
- Intermediate disinfectants are acceptable for use on the cover materials. Top covers consisting of typically polyester and/or polyurethane are recommended to be disinfected with Quaternary. Diluted chlorine bleach solution (1:10) is also acceptable. Phenolics are NOT recommended for poly fabric materials.
- Bottom covers consisting of typically vinyl materials are recommended to be disinfected with Phenolics.
- Diluted chlorine bleach solution (1:10) is also acceptable. Quaternary and/or isopropyl is NOT recommended.
- All components of the mattress should be air-dried thoroughly outside of proximity to dusty areas before re-using.
Warnings
- Because of the potential risk of infectious exposure, cleaning with the patient on the bed is NOT recommended. Any item visibly soiled with any bodily fluids should be properly cleaned or removed and all nearby equipment should be inspected for contamination. Staff members should wear appropriate protective clothing when cleaning soiled bedding. Follow standard institutional infection control procedures. DO NOT open the zippered mattress top cover during cleaning, infection control procedures, or during use. DO NOT launder or autoclave mattress covers.
- With use, an increased risk of patient entrapment is possible due to mattress compression. At regular intervals monitor gaps between the mattress, bed, and/or rail. Mattresses MUST fit bed frame and bed rails and if gaps are present, the mattress should be replaced.
- Visit the FDA website at http://www.fda.gov to learn about the risks of entrapment. Refer to the owners’ manuals for beds and rails for additional safety information.
Limited Warranty
- This warranty is solely for the benefit of the original consumer purchaser.
- This device was built to exacting standards and was carefully inspected prior to shipment. Your Meridian Medical™ brand product is guaranteed to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a one-year warranty period on the foam core from the date of purchase and a one-year warranty on the mattress cover, which is subject to normal wear and may require periodic replacement. If within such warranty period, the product proves defective, the product will be serviced or replaced, at the option of Compass Health Brands. This warranty does not cover product failures due to normal wear and tear or device misuse.
- In the event of a defect covered by this warranty, we will, at our option, service or replace the device. This warranty provides only for the replacement of defective parts and does not cover shipping or labor charges.
- Compass Health Brands’ sole obligation and your exclusive remedy under this warranty is limited to such service and/or replacement.
- This warranty shall not apply to serial numbered products if the serial number has been removed or defaced or to defects or damages caused by unauthorized parts, attachments, or repairs, negligence, accident, circumstances beyond Compass Health Brands’ control, or improper operation, maintenance, or storage.
