CareCo MS08010004 The Gateway Ramp
BEFORE USE
- Remove and retain all packaging.
- Ensure the ramp has not been damaged in transit or storage.
- Carefully read the instructions and warning texts before using ramp. Keep instructions for reference.
- Ensure the surface at both levels is firm, stable and able to bear the intended load.
MAINTENANCE
- If the ramp becomes damaged or slippery in any way it should not be used (contact supplier/manufacturer).
- The ramp may be cleaned with normal cleaning products and left to dry before use.
- Maximum recommended cleaning temperature 50°C; please enquire for further details on use with industrial cleaning machines.
TO DEPLOY
- To carry the ramp, use special finger-safe carrying hole.
- Position the ramp to bridge over the threshold. The Gateway Ramp spine must sit firmly flat and level on the threshold.
- The Gripline ends of both sides of the ramp must rest firmly on the level surface.
- The Gateway Ramp can safely span the lock keep for double doors.
- Ensure the ramps do not become dislodged in use. Check ramps are firmly located, and stable each time they are used.
- Take care when using the ramps, so that no part of the wheelchair catches and moves the ramps.
FOR USE WITH MANUAL WHEELCHAIR
When securing your Gateway Ramp in place, please consider our guideline
recommendations: the maximum slope in the direction of travel should not
exceed 1:12, meaning that for every one inch of rise, there should be 12
inches of length. Anything steeper is considered dangerous. Where applicable,
there should be a width of at least 36 inches between the ramp’s handrails.
This space must be clear and free of obstacles. The maximum rise for any ramp
should be 30 inches. There should be an appropriately sized landing at the
bottom of the ramp to allow for manoeuvring safely off and away from the ramp.
We recommend this to be 5 feet.
FOR USE WITH A MOBILITY SCOOTER
The minimum gradient of slope in the direction of travel should be no less
than 1:8. Where applicable, there should be a width of at least 36 inches
between the ramp’s handrails. This space must be clear and free of obstacles.
The maximum rise for any ramp should be 30 inches. There should be an
appropriately sized landing at the bottom of the ramp to allow for manoeuvring
safely off and away from the ramp. We recommend this to be 5 feet. Your
Gateway ramp is 71cm wide, please consider this when securing to the desired
walkway/doorway. You Gateway ramp can safely carry weight of 272kg, please
consider this when using the product in its intended way – I.e. please take
note of gross weight of wheelchair/powerchair/ electric scooter and its user

WARRANTY
- The ramp carries a comprehensive 2-year warranty for normal use, conditions apply.
- Use other than published/intended will void the warranty.
- The ramps are not designed for permanent outside use and must not be fixed down.
- Any modification/repair other than by manufacturer will void the warranty.
RECYCLING
If you no longer require this product and it has been supplied to you as loan equipment from your local authority or a charity, please contact the service who loaned it to you and discuss its return/removal from your property. If this is your own product and you wish to dispose of it, please liaise with a local recycling service. All the materials in the ramps are 100% recyclable. Detach all rubber detail and send the aluminium parts to metal recycling.
