PTC-17 Ceramic heater

Intended Use
The PTC heating element regulates the heat output depending on the ambient
temperature. The higher the ambient temperature, the lower the heat output.
The product also has overheating protection. Power is supplied via a normal
household power outlet.
The car heater is suitable for operation in vehicle interior. Do not use it
outdoors.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this
product. If you use the product for purposes other than those described above,
the product may be damaged. In addition, improper use can result in short
circuits, fires, electric shocks or other hazards. Read the instructions
carefully and store them in a safe place. Make this product available to third
parties only together with its operating instructions.
This product complies with the statutory national and European requirements.

CAUTION: Do not cover.
Never cover the product during or shortly after use (such as with clothes, a
blanket, curtains, etc.) to prevent it from overheating. This also poses a
fire hazard!

This device is not intended to be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or lack of experience and / or lack of knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or have received instructions on how to use the device.

Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.

The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets. Use extreme caution when children are present. Children cannot recognize the hazards posed by improperly using electric devices. Children may attempt to insert objects into the device. There is a risk of lethal electric shock! The hot surfaces also pose a great risk of injury and fire hazard! Set up the product out of the reach of children.

Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing material for children.

Protect the appliance from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity, moisture, flammable gases, steam and solvents.

Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.

If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
– is visibly damaged,
– is no longer working properly,
– has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
– has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses. -
Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage the product.

Never operate the product without the safety guard and do not insert any objects into the safety guard. This poses a risk of fatal injury due to electric shock and fire hazard!

Make sure there is enough space between the device and other objects during use to guarantee sufficient air circulation.

Never use the product in the direct vicinity of a bathtub, a shower or a swimming pool.
-
Never place the product directly beneath a wall power outlet.
-
Do not use the product with a separate timer, an external remote control system or any other device to automatically turn on the product.

The product is suitable for operation in stationary vehicles (engine off), provided all notes and instructions in this user manual are observed.

Make absolutely sure to follow and observe the information by the vehicle manufacturer regarding the installation of interior heating equipment.

The device was constructed according to protection class II. Only a proper mains socket (230 V/AC, 50 Hz) of the public supply net must be used as voltage source.

The wall outlet or alternatively the plug socket of the extension cord must be located near the device and be easy to access.

Never pull the mains plug from the socket by pulling at the cable. Always pull it from the mains socket using the intended grips.

Unplug the mains plug from the mains socket if you do not use the device for an extended period of time.

For safety reasons, always unplug the device in case of a thunderstorm.

Make sure that the mains cable is not squeezed, bent, damaged by sharp edges or put under mechanical stress. Avoid excessive thermal stress on the mains cable from extreme heat or cold. Do not modify the mains cable. Otherwise the mains cable may be damaged. A damaged mains cable can cause a deadly electric shock.

Do not touch the mains cable if it is damaged. First, power down the respective mains socket (e.g. via the respective circuit breaker) and then carefully pull the mains plug from the mains socket. Never use the product if the mains cable is damaged.

To prevent risks, damaged power cables may only be replaced by the manufacturer, a professional workshop appointed by the manufacturer, or a similarly qualified person.

Never plug in or unplug the mains plug when your hands are wet.

Uncoil the power cable fully. Failure to do so may result in overheating. This poses a fire hazard!

Ensure a distance of at least 30 cm from the air outlet to combustible and highly flammable materials and objects (e.g. curtains, doors, furniture, etc.). If the distance is too short, there is a risk of fire!

Use in spaces with a great amount of dust, with flammable gases, vapors or solvents is not permitted. There is a danger of fire and explosion!

Never leave the product unattended during use.
-
The air vents become very hot very quickly. Risk of burning! Use appropriate caution when handling the product. Never touch it with your bare hands.

Unpleasant odors may occur for some time during first use. Make sure the vehicle where the product is set up is sufficiently ventilated.

Move, transport and store the product only when it is fully cooled off.
-
Use the product in moderate climates only, do not use in the tropics.

Do not use the product just after moving it from a cold to a warm space. This may cause condensation, which can destroy the device or lead to electric shock. Allow the device to reach room temperature first. Wait until all condensation has evaporated. This may take several hours. Only after this you may connect the product to the power supply and use it.

Never pour liquids above or near the product. This poses a great fire hazard and risk of electric shock. Should liquid enter the device interior, remove it immediately from the circuit (turn off the circuit‘s fuse/circuit breaker/residual current operated circuit breaker). Only now is it safe to unplug the product. Consult a professional. Discontinue use of the product.

Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the appliance.

Maintenance, modifications and repairs must only be completed by a technician or an authorised repair centre.

Installation
a) Inside the vehicle
Notes:
- Never attempt to operate the product via the cigarette lighter receptacle using an inverter while driving.
- The product is suitable for heating the vehicle interior and de-icing the windshields before driving only.
- Make absolutely sure to follow and observe the information by the vehicle manufacturer regarding the installation of interior heating equipment.
- Ensure a minimum distance of 30 cm from the air inlet and air outlet, of 5 cm to the left and right side, and of 5 cm to the back. Do not block the air inlet and air outlet.
On the vehicle floor:
- Slide on the mounting plate and place the product with the mounting plate facing downwards on the vehicle floor (floor mat or carpet). Make sure the product is in stable position.
- It is also very important that the product does not draw hot air during operation. Ensure that by keeping the distance from the air outlet to other objects as big as possible.
Fixed installation:

Mount the product to a suitable location inside the vehicle, e.g. to the center console [ Fig. 1 ] or underneath the glove compartment, using the mounting plate and observing the minimum distances.

Make sure the air outlet faces upwards in order to prevent the product from drawing hot air during operation.

Use the mounting plate as template and mark the positions for the boreholes through the screw holes.
When drilling or attaching screws, make sure not to damage any cables or structural components located underneath the surface. -
Use special installation material depending on the installation location. Consult an expert.

Mains cable: Make sure not to bend the mains cable and prevent it from chafing against other objects.
b) Wall installation
-
Do not mount the product to wooden walls or other walls made of highly flammable materials.
-
Install the mounting plate to a flat, stable, vertical wall. Follow [ Fig. 2 ] regarding the alignment of the mounting plate.

Use the installation plate as a template and mark the drill holes on the wall through the screw holes.
When drilling or tightening screws, make sure not to damage any cables, wires or pipes located underneath the surface. -
Drill the holes in the wall and insert suitable dowels.

Mount the installation plate to the wall using the included screws.
-
Attach the product to the installation plate. The on/off switch must be on the upper side.
You may also place the product on a suitable surface (only with installed mounting plate). In this case, the red LED must face upward.
Operation
Important! The product is not suitable for outdoor use. When using the product inside a vehicle, make sure the extension cord to the product is suitable for outdoor use (e.g. IP 44). The product and the mains cable and mains plug must never be exposed to moisture or humidity.
- Make sure that the product is turned off (on/off switch to O) before plugging the power plug into the power outlet.
- Connect the mains plug to a common household wall outlet or, when using the product inside a vehicle, to the extension cord.
- Turn on the product (on/off switch to I). The red LED lights up during operation.
- Turn off and unplug the product when it is not in use.
- Let the product cool down to room temperature before storing it.
Overheating
Important!
Risk of burns! Always allow sufficient time for the heater to cool down before
touching it!
The device includes an overheat protection feature that shuts the power off if
the internal temperature gets too hot (90 °C or higher).
If the device unexpectedly stops working during normal operation the
overheating protection may have triggered.
To reset the device:
- Disconnect the product from the power supply and allow it to cool down completely.
- Switch the power OFF (0).
- Press the reset button located on the bottom of the product.
- Check for and remove any conditions that may have caused the overheating protection to trigger (e.g. blocked vents, very high ambient temperatures).
- Reconnect the product to the power supply and switch the power ON (I).
Important!
Immediately stop using the product and consult a qualified technician if:
- The power supply keeps interrupting or switching off during normal operation.
- The product will not switch ON..
Care and Cleaning
- This product does not require maintenance. There are no components located inside the product you need to maintain. Never open/dismantle the product. Have maintenance and repairs done by qualified experts or repair shops only.
- Never open the cover on the back of the product. Make sure that the sticker on the cover is not damaged during cleaning.
- Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions as they can cause damage to the housing and malfunctioning.
- Never submerge the product in water or other liquids.
- Switch off the product and disconnect the mains plug from the wall outlet or alternatively from the extension cord before cleaning. Allow it to cool down completely.
- To clean the product, a dry, soft and clean cloth is sufficient. Do not apply too much pressure to the housing to prevent scratching.
- You can use a long-haired, soft and clean brush and a vacuum cleaner to remove dust.
Disposal
This symbol must appear on any electrical and electronic equipment placed on
the EU market.
This symbol indicates that this device should not be disposed of as unsorted
municipal waste at the end of its service life.
Owners of WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) shall dispose
of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. Spent batteries and
accumulators, which are not enclosed by the WEEE, as well as lamps that can be
removed from the WEEE in a non-destructive manner, must be removed by end
users from the WEEE in a non-destructive manner before it is handed over to a
collection point.
Distributors of electrical and electronic equipment are legally obliged to
provide free take-back of waste.
