DUNE 4WD Air Compressor Conversion Kit
INTRODUCTION
The Dune 4WD Air Compressor Conversion Kit is designed for easy retro fit to
most brands and styles of tyre air compressor (under BOA power consumption),
converting it into an automatically power cycled unit triggered by the
supplied air trigger gun.
This enables mounting an “off the shelf” air compressor into a vehicle as a
semi-permanent installation. Once operating, it provides a simple solution for
tyre-to-tyre inflation without the annoyance of having to toggle the
compressor power switch on and off to get a pressure reading. The other key
benefit is using a trigger gun for simple on/off inflation, which cannot
normally be used on automotive air compressors due to continuous power
delivery and the risk of blowing the air hose as the compressor does not turn
off.
The Air Control unit comes with a polyurethane hose and trigger gun with
inbuilt pressure gauge which allows the user to control when the air
compressor turns on and off using a simple and easy to use pressure switch
system when pumping air into their vehicle tyres or any inflatable object.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- WARNING! Read instructions before use. Suitable for 12V operation only.
- WARNING! Air compressors can produce a high pressure. DO NOT inflate any item beyond its maximum capacity.
- DO NOT leave the unit unattended while in operation.
- Check capacity and maximum pressure of any inflatable before commencing inflation.
- Monitor the pressure gauge while in operation.
- The gauge should be used as an indication of pressure only. We recommend the use of a separate dial pressure gauge directly applied to the tyre for definitive reading.
- Mount compressor on an appropriate surface for installation.
- DO NOT direct the inflation hose connector head at yourself, others or animals.
- DO NOT carry by the hose, or pull the hose sharply from a valve.
- DO NOT pull the power cable from the vehicle accessory socket or battery terminal by the power lead, grip the plug or connector.
- DO NOT get the compressor wet or use in the rain.
- DO NOT use the compressor for a task it was not designed to perform.
- DO NOT operate the compressor when you are tired, under the influence of alcohol, drugs or intoxicating medication.
- DO NOT operate the compressor if any parts are missing as this may cause failure or possible personal injury.
- DO NOT open the unit.
- Keep children and non essential persons away from the inflation area.
- Keep the compressor clean and in good condition.
- Replace or repair damaged parts. Use recommended parts only. Non authorised parts may be dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.
Features
- Conversion kit, when installed automatically cycles air compressor on and off when inflating tyres using air trigger gun control with internal pressure switch.
- Perfect for installing fixed vehicle mounted air compressors and inflators.
- Quickly and accurately inflate your vehicle without moving back and forth to cycle off compressor power.
- Extra-long 7.SM coiled polyurethane air hose reaches tyres from a fixed mounting location.
- Compatible with any 12V automotive air compressor with max current consumption below 80A (not suitable for TWIN cylinder compressors)
- Requires only simple modification of your BYO air compressors’ power cable to be fitted with S0A style connector (not supplied)
- *Please note: Air Compressor maximum inflation pressure is limited to l00psi after installation, due to the maximum limit of the internal pressure switch. Any increase to this pressure can risk rupturing the included air hoses.
Operating Instructions
- First, connect the air tubes from the air control unit to the air compressor, and then attach the coiled polyurethane hose to the air control unit main body.
- Connect a power cable (needs S0A Plug connection) from the air control unit to the air compressor and then connect the main body of the Air Control Unit to 12V power source using the 2m power wire. We recommend fitting a suitably sized fuse (not supplied) to the positive cable if fitting directly to a battery.
- Switch air compressor inbuilt main power switch to “On” position.
- The compressor will start up and pressurize air hose, when the pressure in the air hose reaches l00psi the compressor will cycle off until the air trigger gun is released.
This system now allows the air compressor to turn on and off at the user’s request using the trigger guns at the end of the polyurethane hose while pumping air.
It is recommended to switch the inbuilt air compressor power switch to the “Off” position when not in use, to further minimize electrical load on the internal circuitry.
NOTE: Periodically check air fittings are tight to prevent air leaks which will cause the air compressor to cycle when in standby.
*Please note: Air Compressor maximum inflation pressure is limited to 100psi after installation, due to the maximum limit of the internal pressure switch. Any increase to this pressure can risk rupturing the included air hoses.
