S B Filters 75-5144 Cold Air Intake

Product Information

This is the installation instructions for the 75-5144 S PRINT intake kit. It is designed for Chevrolet and GMC 2500/3500 trucks with a 6.6L Duramax L5P engine, manufactured between 2017 and 2019. The kit is compatible with stock air boxes and is designed to improve airflow for better performance.

Before starting the installation, please ensure that you have all the necessary tools and components. If anything is missing, contact our customer support at 909-947-0015. It is important to read the entire product guide before proceeding.

The kit comes with a cotton cleanable filter (KF-1081) or a disposable dry extendable filter (KF-1081D). The cotton cleanable filter is pre-oiled from the factory and can be cleaned using the recommended oil. The dry extendable filter does not require oil and should be discarded once it reaches capacity.

Important Note: This intake kit may not fit with certain aftermarket parts such as body lifts or lowering kits, custom hoods, or throttle body spacers/upgrades. Please check compatibility before installation.

Product Usage Instructions

Before starting, make sure the engine is turned off and the vehicle is in Park or the Parking Brake is set.
Disconnect the negative battery cables on both batteries using a 10mm socket/wrench.
Disengage the red locking clip on the MAF sensor electrical harness. Press down on the tab and pull out to disconnect.
Remove the nut securing the stock resonator using a 13mm socket/wrench.
Loosen the hose clamp at the resonator and remove the resonator from the intake tube using an 8mm socket/wrench.
Loosen the hose clamp at the turbo inlet and intake box, then remove the intake tube from the vehicle using an 8mm socket/wrench.
Proceed with the installation of the new intake kit according to the provided exploded view diagram and step-by-step instructions.
After installation, make sure to reconnect the negative battery cables.
For maintenance of the cotton cleanable filter, refer to the S&B Filter Maintenance instructions and use the recommended cleaning and oiling kit (88-0008).

Warning: It is important to disconnect the battery for a minimum of 2 hours during installation. Failure to do so may cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate upon completion of the installation or subsequent operation.

Air Box Plug Testing

Stock air boxes are a signiﬁcant contributor to poor airﬂow which is why S&B designs custom air boxes with secondary and/or enlarged openings. With that said, S&B recognizes the beneﬁts of cooler air. For optimal performance, we recommend that the intake be used without the end cap except in conditions of extreme heat.

Performance Testing

After your installation is complete engage parking brake and start your engine. Listen for abnormal noises. If an air leak is detected, re-inspect hoses and connections as they may need to be repositioned and tightened
S&B FILTERS recommends that you keep your OE intake system in the event it is required in the future.
In order to maintain your warranty, all connections and components must be checked periodically for alignment and for proper tension on all connections. Failure to do so may void your warranty.
Use only S&B FILTERS cleaning and oil products to service your ﬁlter. Using any other brand oil and or cleaners on your S&B air ﬁlter may void your warranty.

Warning!
If your vehicle has a Vehicle Emission Control Information decal aﬃxed to the factory airbox, a new replacement label must be obtained and installed in a readily visible position in the engine compartment in order to remain CARB compliant. Failure to do so will prevent the vehicle from passing a smog check. Replacement labels can be ordered from your local dealership. Regulations state that the VECI label shall not be aﬃxed to any equipment which is easily detached from the vehicle. Label placement, under the hood on a painted surface, is recommended.

INSTALLATION STEPS

STEP 1
With the ignition switched oﬀ and the parking brake set, disconnect the negative battery cables on both batteries. IMPORTANT: Failure to disconnect the battery for a minimum of 2 hours may cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate upon completion of the installation or subsequent operation.
DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!
STEP 2
Disengage the red locking clip, press down on the tab, then pull out to disconnect the electrical harness from the MAF sensor.
STEP 3
Remove the nut securing the stock resonator.
Tool Required: 13 mm Socket/Wrench
STEP 4
Loosen the hose clamp at the resonator then remove the resonator from the intake tube.
Tool Required: 8mm Socket/Wrench
STEP 5
Loosen the hose clamp at the turbo inlet and intake box then remove the intake tube from the vehicle.
Tool Required: 8mm Socket/Wrench
STEP 6
Disconnect the two black clips securing the MAF electrical harness to the intake box.
Tool Required: Panel Popper
STEP 7
Lift the intake box to pull the prongs from the grommets and remove the intake box from the vehicle.
STEP 8
Remove the four bolts securing the intake box tray, then remove the tray from the vehicle.
Tool Required: 10 mm Socket/Wrench
STEP 9
Install the Fender Seal (K) onto the Intake Box(A).
STEP 10
Install the scoop seal (J) onto the intake box(A).
STEP 11
Determine if you want to install the Box Plug (L) onto the Intake Box or leave it open.
STEP 12
Carefully remove the MAF sensor from the stock intake tube then install the sensor onto the S&B Intake Tube (C) with the #8-32 Screws (F), MAF Plate (E) and MAF Gasket (D).
STEP 13
Install the Coupler (H) with #64 Hose Clamps (G) onto the Intake Tube (C). Slide the coupler as far up the intake tube as possible. Do not tighten the hose clamps at this time.
STEP 14
Place the Intake Box (A) into the vehicle.
STEP 15
Align the holes on the Intake Box with the mounting holes on the vehicle then install the three M6 Bolts (N) and Washers (M) and tighten.
Tool Required: 10mm Socket/Wrench
STEP 16
Install the ﬁlter (B) into the intake box (A). The lip of the ﬁlter should go over the ﬂange on the box and snap onto it.
STEP 17
Insert the intake tube (C) into the ﬁlter (B). Align the turbo side with the turbo inlet and slide the coupler (H) down over the turbo inlet. Tighten the hose clamps at the ﬁlter and turbo sides of the tube.
Tool Required: 8mm Socket/Wrench
STEP 18
Reconnect the electrical harness into the MAF sensor and engage the red locking clip.
STEP 19
Reconnect the negative battery terminals on both batteries. Inspect your installation, make sure the kit is properly positioned and all fasteners are secure. Keep all stock parts in case you ever need to reinstall the stock intake assembly. Aﬃx the ID label near the intake kit. The installation is now complete.
