Assembly

Battery Charging (see figure A)

  • Use only the power supplies listed in the technical
data. Only these power supplies are matched to the lithium-ion battery of your glue gun.

  • Pay attention to the mains voltage. The voltage of the power source must match the voltage specified on the rating plate of the power adaptor. Power adaptors marked with 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.

Note: The battery is supplied partially charged. To ensure the full capacity of the battery, completely charge the battery before the first use. The lithium-ion battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life. Interrupting the charging process does not damage the battery. The Li-ion battery is protected against deep discharge. A protective circuit switches the glue gun off when the battery is drained, meaning the adhesive is no longer being heated. If the battery charge indicator (8) flashes red, the battery has less than 30% capacity and should be charged. When the battery is fully charged, the battery charge indicator is continuously lit red. To charge the battery, connect the Micro-USB connector (10) of the charging cable (11) to the charging socket (9) and the USB charging connector (12) to the power supply (13). Then plug the mains plug of the power supply into the plug socket. The battery charge indicator (8) will flash green during the charging process. When the charging process is complete, the battery charge indicator will be continuously lit green. Unplug the power supply from the mains. The glue gun cannot be used during the charging process. The lack of function during the charging process does not mean that the tool is defective.

  • Protect the power adaptor against moisture!

Operation

Starting Operation
Switching On and Off
To switch on the glue gun, press and hold the on/off button (7) until the heating indicator (6) lights up green. The heating indicator (6) will flash while the tool is heating up. Once it is continuously lit, the glue gun is ready to use. To switch off the glue gun, press and hold the on/off button (7) until the heating indicator (6) goes out.
Note: If the glue gun is not used for longer than five minutes, it will switch off automatically to save energy. When switching on again, check the battery charge indicator (8): If it lights up red, the battery needs to be charged.

  • Safely place the glue gun down after use and let it cool completely before packing it away. The hot nozzle can cause damage.

Working Advice

  • Keep people and animals away from the hot adhesive and the nozzle tip. Adhesive and nozzle tip will heat up to 170 °C, posing a risk of burns. If hot adhesive comes into contact with skin, immediately hold the affected area under a stream of cold water for several minutes. Do not try to remove the hot adhesive from the skin.

Only use adhesives that have been recommended by the manufacturer of the glue gun. Adhesive bonds can become unstuck when they are affected by moisture.

Preparing for gluing
The bonding locations must be clean, dry and free from grease.

.The materials to be glued together and the work surface must not be easily ignited or flammable. Test whether heat-sensitive materials are suitable beforehand on a sample workpiece. The ambient temperature and the workpieces to be glued must not be colder than +5 °C and not warmer than +50 °C. Materials that cool the adhesive down quickly should be warmed first with a hot air gun.
Gluing
Push the glue stick (4) suited to the material into the glue stick compartment (5). Switch on the glue gun and allow it to heat up. The heating indicator (6) will flash during heating. Once the heating indicator (6) is continuously lit, the glue gun is ready to use. Apply moderate pressure to the feed trigger (3). Apply the adhesive to a single side. Press the materials you wish to glue together against each other for around 10 to 30 seconds immediately after applying the adhesive. It is still possible to correct the bonding location at this point. The bond is stable after approx. two minutes of cooling time.

  • Make sure you do not come into contact with the hot adhesive. Use a silicone mat to press permeable materials together.

Application tip

  • Do not use flammable solvents to clean the bonding locations. The hot glue could ignite any solvent residue or release hazardous fumes.

Adhesive residue on clothing cannot be removed. The bonding locations can be painted.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning

  • Warning! Switch the glue gun off before commencing maintenance and cleaning work.
  • Keep the glue gun clean to ensure effective, safe operation.

After the adhesive has hardened, you can remove it with a blunt object. Do not use solvents when cleaning. If necessary, the bonding locations can be unstuck again by applying heat. An inserted glue stick (4) must not be removed from the rear of the glue gun. This is to prevent damage to the glue gun.

The contained lithium-ion batteries are subject to the Dangerous Goods Legislation requirements. The batteries are suitable for road transport by the user without further restrictions. When shipping by third parties (e.g.: by air transport or forwarding agency), special requirements on packaging and labelling must be observed. For preparation of the item being
shipped, consulting an expert for hazardous material is required.
Disposal
Glue guns, power supplies, batteries, accessories, packaging and adhesive residues should be recycled in an environmentally friendly manner. Do not dispose of glue guns, power supplies or batteries with household waste.

Only for EU countries:
According to the Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment and its transposition into national law, electrical and electronic equipment that are no longer usable, and, according to Directive 2006/66/EC, defective or drained batteries must be collected separately and disposed of in an environmentally correct manner. If disposed of incorrectly, waste electrical and electronic equipment may have harmful effects on the environment and human health, due to the potential presence of hazardous substances.
Only for the United Kingdom:
According to Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations, 2013 (2013/3113) and the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009 (2009/890), electrical and electronic equipment that is no longer usable must be collected separately and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.

Battery packs/batteries: Li-ion:
Please observe the notes in the section on transport (see “Transport”, page 13).

  • Integrated batteries may only be removed for disposal by qualified personnel. Opening the housing shell can irreparably damage the glue gun.

To remove the battery from the glue gun, first ensure that the battery is drained to the point where the battery charge indicator (8) is lit red. Unscrew the screws on the housing and remove the housing shell in order to remove the battery. To prevent a short circuit, disconnect the connectors on the battery one at a time and then isolate the poles. Even when fully discharged, the battery still contains a residual capacity which can be released in case of a short circuit.
