ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES – INFORMATION FOR PRIVATE HOUSEHOLDS
The Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) contains a large number
of requirements for handling electrical and electronic equipment. The most
important requirements are summarized here.
-
Separate collection of old devices
Electrical and electronic equipment that has become waste is referred to as waste equipment. Owners of old devices must collect them separately from unsorted municipal waste. In particular, old devices do not belong in household waste, but in special collection and return systems.. -
Batteries and accumulators as well as lamps
Owners of old devices must usually separate old batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed by the old device, as well as lamps that can be removed from the old device without destroying them, before handing them in at a collection point. This does not apply if old devices are prepared for reuse with the participation of a public waste disposal authority. -
Possibilities of returning old devices
Owners of old devices from private households can hand them in free of charge to the collection points of the public waste disposal authorities or to the take-back points set up by manufacturers or distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG. Shops with a sales area of at least 400 m² for electrical and electronic equipment and those grocery stores with a total sales area of at least 800 m² that offer electrical and electronic equipment several times a year or permanently and make it available on the market are subject to the obligation to take back. This also applies to sales using long-distance means of communication if the storage and shipping areas for electrical and electronic equipment are at least 400 m² or the total storage and shipping areas are at least 800 m². In principle, distributors must ensure that they are taken back by providing suitable return options at a reasonable distance from the respective end user. The possibility of returning an old device free of charge exists in the case of distributors who are obliged to take it back, among other things, if a new device of the same type that essentially fulfills the same functions is handed over to an end user. If a new device is delivered to a private household, the old device of the same type can also be handed over there for collection free of charge; This applies to sales using means of distance communication for devices in categories 1, 2 or 4 in accordance with Section 2 (1) ElektroG, namely “heat exchangers”, “display screen devices” or “large devices” (the latter with at least one external dimension of more than 50 centimeters). End users are asked about a corresponding return intention when concluding a purchase contract. There is also the option of returning old devices that are no larger than 25 centimeters in any external dimension to the distributors’ collection points free of charge, regardless of the purchase of a new device, limited to three old devices per type of device. -
Privacy Notice
Old devices often contain sensitive personal data. This applies in particular to information and telecommunications technology devices such as computers and smartphones. In your own interest, please note that each end user is responsible for deleting the data on the old devices to be disposed of. -
Meaning of the “crossed-out” wheeled bin symbol
The symbol of a crossed-out garbage can, which is regularly shown on electrical and electronic devices, indicates that the device in question must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
If possible, entrust the installation of the power capacitor to a trained car audio installer. However, if you want to carry out the installation yourself, be sure to observe the following instructions. Otherwise there is a risk of injury or serious damage to the device or parts of the vehicle`s electrical system.
- The power capacitor stores very high power reserves and could even explode if mishandled. If the power capacitor is misused, incorrectly connected or not professionally repaired, damage to property or personal injury can result.
- The power capacitor has no reverse polarity protection!
- It is therefore essential to avoid a short circuit at the power connection terminals. Dangerously high currents can flow and enormous damage can occur. Danger of explosion! · The power capacitor must be installed securely and professionally in a mechanically stable location.
- Under no circumstances may the power capacitor be operated with a higher voltage than specified.
- Protect the power capacitor from moisture and heat.
- The permissible operating temperature range is – 40 °C to + 60 °C.
- Please only use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Never use chemicals or water.
- CAUTION: If the power capacitor is removed again or the vehicle is shut down, the power capacitor must first be discharged in order to avoid unwanted voltages and leakage currents.
- CAUTION: If the vehicle is repaired and the vehicle battery is disconnected, the power capacitor must first be disconnected from the vehicle battery or discharged in order to avoid unwanted voltages and leakage currents. If necessary, inform the vehicle technician.

INTENDED USE
This product is only designed for use in a vehicle with 12 volt on-board voltage and negative ground and functions as a power storage for an car audio amplifier. Any other use may lead to damage to the product or in the vicinity of the product.
INSTALLATION NOTES
For best results, the power capacitor should be installed as close to the
amplifier as possible. The cables between the power capacitor and the
amplifier should be as short as possible and have the largest possible cable
cross-section (25 – 50 mm2). The cables must be laid in such a way that their
insulation is not damaged during installation and operation.
Never mount the power capacitor on a bass enclosure or other vibrating parts,
as this could cause internal components to vibrate and seriously damage the
power capacitor.
For assembly, open the two side flaps. Fix the power capacitor in the vehicle
with four screws. During installation, make sure that no standard parts in the
vehicle such as cables, seat belts, tank or similar parts are damaged or
removed.
CAUTION
Before you start with the installation, disconnect necessarily the GROUND
connection wire from the battery to avoid any risk of electric shocks and
short circuits.
INITIAL CHARGING
-
Only use sufficiently strong power cables with a cable cross-section of 25 – 50 mm 2. If necessary, observe the information in the operating instructions for the amplifier.
-
The same cable cross-section should be used for the plus and minus lines.
-
Reconnect the vehicle battery and any other power sources that may have been disconnected for safety during installation.
-
It is strongly recommended to install an additional cable fuse in the plus line to protect the power capacitor from reverse polarity and overload.
-
Connect the yellow cable of the charge/discharge chip card to the negative input of the power capacitor (- NEGATIVE INPUT) of the power capacitor.
-
Connect the negative input of the power capacitor (- NEGATIVE INPUT) to a suitable ground point on the vehicle.
-
Connect the plus input of the power capacitor (+ POSITIVE INPUT) to one end of the extra cable fuse.
-
Connect the blue cable of the charge/discharge chip card to the free end of the cable fuse in the plus line.
-
Connect the red cable of the charge/discharge chip card to the positive pole (+) and the black cable to the negative pole (-) of the vehicle battery.
WIRING DIAGRAM
**** -
To monitor the voltage during charging, a voltmeter should be connected between the positive (+) and negative (-) poles of the vehicle battery and between the positive and negative leads on the power capacitor. To get a more accurate reading, connect the red wire of one voltmeter to the blue wire of the charge/ discharge chip card, which leads to the power capacitor. The black lead of the voltmeter can be connected to the vehicle’s ground terminal.
You can connect the other voltmeter directly between the positive and negative poles of the vehicle battery. -
As soon as the green LED under CHRG starts to light up, the charging process has started. When the green LED goes out, the capacitor is sufficiently charged. This takes about 20 minutes.
-
As soon as the required charging voltage is reached and the power capacitor shows around 90% of the voltage of the vehicle battery on the voltmeter, the charging process is complete.
-
Then remove the four cables of the charge/discharge chip card. Keep the charge/discharge chip card in a suitable place for later use.
-
Finally, connect the positive wire at one end of the cable fuse to the positive (+) pole of the vehicle battery in case you need to reroute it again. Then connect the other end of the cable fuse to the positive input of the power capacitor (+ POSITIVE INPUT). The cable fuse should be installed no more than 30 cm from the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
CAUTION: Sparks may fly when connecting the cables.
DISCHARGING
- Disconnect all connections at the power capacitor except for the power connections at the plus (+ POSITIVE INPUT) and minus input (- NEGATIVE INPUT).
- To monitor the voltage when discharging, a voltmeter should be connected between the plus and minus wires on the power capacitor. To get a more accurate reading, connect the red wire of one voltmeter to the blue wire of the charge/discharge chip card, which leads to the power capacitor. The black lead of the voltmeter can be connected to the vehicle’s ground terminal.
- Connect the yellow cable of the charge/discharge chip card to the negative input of the power capacitor (- NEGATIVE INPUT) of the power capacitor.
- Connect the blue cable of the charge/discharge chip card to the free end of the cable fuse in the plus line.
- Connect the red and black cables of the charge/discharge chip card. The red LED under DISCHRG will light up and the discharging process will begin. This takes about 20 minutes.
- As soon as the red LED has gone out and the voltmeter no longer shows any voltage, the power capacitor is completely discharged.
FUNCTIONAL NOTES
- On top of the power capacitor is a four-digit LED display that shows the current system voltage while it is powered on.
- When the sound system is switched off you can check the current voltage by pressing the push button on the left of the display and the LED display will turn on. With a constant voltage the displayed is on for about 2 minutes. If the LED display flashes, the applied voltage is not constant.
