SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read all instructions failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

  • The voltage of the power source must agree with the value given on the nameplate of the machine.
  • Before using the tool, check the tool and its power connections if there is any management. Don’t connect the plug to a power source when the switch is on.
  • Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
  • Extreme temperature differences cause water droplets on power conducting parts. Before switching on the tool, wait tool to get the same temperature working room temperature.
  • Use the power tool, accessories tool bits, etc. in accordance with these instructions and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool, taking into account the work conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from intended could result in a hazardous situation.
  • Fit workpieces and for fitting the workpieces, use clamping equipment or vice.
  • Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Losing clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
  • Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection are used appropriately.
  • When working with the machine, hold it firmly with both hands and provide for a secure stance. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
  • When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. The use of a  cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
  • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks that may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • When the power tool is given to other people, this instruction manual must be given with the power tool.
  • Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

  • Do not throw the batteries to fire.

KEYLESS CHUCK

The keyless chuck fitted to your cordless drill has a capacity of 10mm(3/8’’) and will accept any accessory with a shank diameter not exceeding 10mm. All model have variable speed control and forward and reverse making the drill ideal for tightening and loosening screws and other fixings.

CHARGING THE BATTERY

  • Before use, charge the battery for at least 1 hour.
  • Remove the battery from the drill by pressing the battery release button on each side of the battery pack.
  • Push the battery into the charging base. The battery will only fit into the base in one direction. DO NOT FORCE the battery into the base.

  • The drill is now ready to use.
  • The forward/reverse button controls the direction of rotation of the chuck. This has 3 positions. When pushed to the left, the chuck rotates clockwise and when pushed to the right, counterclockwise. When the lever is set in the central position, the trigger switch is locked and the drill cannot be used – use this when storing or transporting the tool.
  • Loosen the cuck by holding the back part of the chuck with one hand and turning the front part. Insert the required accessory and tighten using hand pressure only.
  • Slide the forward/reverse button to the direction required.
  • The drill can now be used by squeezing the trigger switch.
  • All models have a variable speed function built into the trigger switch.

TORQUE SETTINGS

Your drill is fitted with a torque-adjusting ring(2). This allows you to set the drill to ‘slip’ at a pre-set torque. This tool has a 23-position torque control and therefore a very precise setting is obtainable.

Mechanical Gear Selection
Two-speed ranges can be preselected with the gear selector:

  • 1st gear: Low rotational speed, high power.
  • 2nd gear: High rotational speed, low power.

The speed settings may only be changed when the machine is motionless. If the speed setting notches only partially, briefly press the On/Off switch.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

For safe and proper working, always keep the machine and the ventilation slots clean. If the machine should happen to fail despite the care taken in manufacture and testing, repair should be carried out by an authorized customer services agent for RTRMAX power tools.
