Place the vehicle in park, turn it off, and disconnect the negative battery terminal using a 1/2 wrench.
-
Using a trim tool or flathead screwdriver, pry on the right side of the passenger side plastic fog light fascia and other arrowed locations shown to remove. Disconnect the parking sensors if equipped. Repeat for the driver’s side.
-
Using a 15mm socket, loosen the three circled bolts on the passenger side of the bumper and repeat for the driver side.
-
With the help of an assistant, lift the bumper and remove the loosened bolts. Before removing the bumper, disconnect the main upstream bumper harness connector behind the driver-side headlight.
-
Place the bumper face down on a soft work surface. Locate the brackets and place the provided adhesive-backed rubber on the bumper resting surface of each bracket. Trim as needed.
-
Using a 10mm socket, remove the two arrowed bolts on the weather seal above the bumper mount (passenger side shown). Slip the 6 XL Linkable bracket under the seal and align the slots over the bumper mounting holes. Tighten the two 10mm hex head bolts. Repeat for the driver’s side. Follow steps 4-2 backward to install the bumper. If the brackets need to be narrower or wider, the bumper mounting bolts will have to be loosened again later.
For steel bumper-equipped models: -
Using a T40 Torx bit, remove the four arrowed bolts.
-
Locate the 6 XL Linkable mounting brackets and place the adhesive-backed rubber on the bottom mounting surface. Trim as needed. Mount the driver and passenger side brackets to the bumper in the previous bolt locations. You may need to loosen the bolts to adjust the width of the brackets later.
For all models: -
Place the 6XL Linkable onto a soft work surface. Using the provided Allen wrench, remove the upper and lower bolts on the left and right links of the center pair of lights.
-
Remove the housing bolts on one side of the center pair of lights (left side shown). Locate the L-bracket with support brace hardware. With a 7/16 wrench and socket, attach the rubber bump as shown. Using the longer bolts in the support bracket parts bag, reattach the link to the left side light with the support bracket in between. Leave the bolts slightly loose for now. Repeat for the right-side light.
-
Using the provided Allen wrench, replace the bolts from step 9 and reassemble the Linkable light bar. One at a time, loosen each pair of links and adjust so the edges are parallel as shown. Then tighten them. The outer two pairs of links can remain loose momentarily.
-
Using the provided Linkable mounting hardware, Allen wrench, and 7/16 socket, mount the lightbar onto the bumper brackets. Tighten it. Also, tighten the top and bottom bolts on the end links. Have an assistant pull up on the light bar center while pushing down on the preload supports, and tighten the left and right housing bolts through the supports.

Have an assistant pull up on the light bar center, while pushing down on the preload supports, and tighten the left and right housing bolts through the supports.
-
The main harness (up fitter or toggle switch) will need to be unraveled. Route the light lead of the harness along the driver-side inner fender away from any hot, sharp, and/or rotating components. Continue routing the harness down behind the headlight. Through the gap between the grill and the bumper, route the harness across to the Linkable connector on the passenger side and plug it into the light. Remove the slack and tie the harness as needed, pulling up into the engine compartment. Any extra harness length can be tied up and placed into the inner driver-side fender.
-
If you purchased the Upfitter switch version:
- Locate the bundle of up fitter wires in the back driver-side corner taped to the large wiring harness. Pull the tape off to access the wires.
- Reference the table to choose a switch location. We suggest AUX 2 for this kit. AUX 1 is the only other switch able to power this light.
- Using the pliers, clasp the splice connector on the upfitter splice harness over the desired wire/circuit. Wrap the tape back over the remaining wires. Make sure all wires are isolated and add electrical tape as needed. (The green wire will not be used)
- Mount the black ring terminal of the splice harness to the common ground on the driver-side firewall using a 10mm socket wrench.
- Reattach battery ground (-).
-
If you purchased the stand-alone toggle switch version:
- Locate the firewall passthrough the grommet on the right side of the brake booster. In the cab, this will be located next to the footrest. Push the grommet into the engine compartment from the cab.
- There are two easy options for switching locations on the dash in the locations arrowed under the headlight controls.
- Gently pull the dash panel away until unclipped. Locate the two circled indentations on the back of the dash below the headlight controls. These are the two suggested switch mounting locations.
- Snap a photo of the switch wiring for reference later. Remove the switch terminals from the switch. Remove the tape around the wires on either side of the grommet.
- Choose the desired dash location for the switch. Drill ¾” hole.
- Thread the wires through the hole in the passthrough grommet, mount the switch, and reattach the switch terminals. Tape around the wires of the grommet. Install dash panel.
- Mount the (+) and (-) ring terminals of the harness to the corresponding battery terminals starting with the (+) red lead.
- Reattach battery ground (-)
Tie all wires away from sharp, hot, and/or rotating components. Re-torque all
the fasteners after 100 miles.
Your install is now complete! Thank you for choosing Baja Designs.
